Just Deal

Show Summary

Welcome to the Just Deal guide at TV.com. When this show debuted in September 2000, it was something of a departure from the rest of the TNBC (Teen NBC) lineup that it was a part of. It wasn't a sitcom, although it had plenty of lighter moments. It wasn't filmed before a live audience. It did location shooting. Most of all it was a more realistic look at teens and high school life. The show follows the lives and relationships of three disparate friends who live and go to school in the American Northwest, two of whom have a slow-developing romance budding. Their philosophies on life and how to get along can be summed up by the show's title. Newcomers Brian T. Skala, Erika Thormahlen and Shedrack Anderson III handle the main roles. Just Deal ran for two years on NBC. As had been done with several TNBC shows in the past, a regular 26-episode seaon was split into two, with the first 13 installments only shown during the 2000-01 season. These episodes were filmed from August 15 to November 16, 2000. For 2001-02, the next thirteen were shown (filmed January 22-April 23, 2001), but in the meantime it was learned that NBC planned to drop its TNBC lineup for the fall 2002 season and replace it with Discovery Channel for Kids programming. Then without any warning or publicity, new episodes of Just Deal began airing in May 2002. There were 13 more new shows in this "third season" (filmed July 3-October 26, 2001) which was great news for fans of the show, except that NBC did little to promote it. Consequently, many viewers were unaware of the new broadcasts, thinking that reruns were still being shown each week. The last new episode to be shown, "Animal House Rules." premiered September 7, and on September 28, Just Deal, along with City Guys, All About Us and Skate made its final bow with repeats of the episodes "Looking Back" and "The Little Tramp." (Thanks to David Lumpkin for help with the filming dates.) Just Deal no longer on the air in U.S.? In January 2003, the N-Channel (also known as Noggin) added Just Deal to its line-up. As of late 2004, though, it seems to be absent from that channel's line-up. If anyone has any information about JD being broadcast anywhere, let us know! Q: Where does Just Deal take place? A: In the fictional town of Beachwood, Washington. Did you know? Just Deal was shown in France on the France 2 channel under the name Juste Entre Nous.moreless
