If Morgaine has a way of sensing when Entrigan is near, why doesn't it alert her to his presense when Entrigan, Batman, and J'onn set a trap for her at the archeologist's home?
Morgaine: Youth is so wasted on the young.
Jason Blood: Gone, gone, the form of man - rise the Demon Etrigan!
Morgaine: Jason Blood? Doesn't he ever give up? Such an ardent suitor.
Etrigan: I still don't trust that Martian. He's damaged goods. Batman: I'd trust J'onn with my life. Etrigan: I'll send flowers.
J'onn: Then it was all an illusion? Etrigan: Perceptive, isn't he? Flash: Lay off, gruesome.
Etrigan: The witch has an amulet which can sense when I'm drawing near Flash: With that strench, who needs an amulet? Etrigan: (growls, picks up Flash) What? Flash: Nothing!
Etrigan: For the past generation she has hidden from me, but I will never rest until her soul burns in the Eternal Pit. Flash: And I thought Bats was creepy.
Etrigan: That witch will pay for this! I'll feed on her cold heart!
Morgaine: Everything has a price...if you're willing to pay.
Character bios: The Demon Etrigan, Morgaine Le Fay & Mordred
At the costume party there is someone who looks kinda like the villain Maxie Zeus from the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Fire From Olympus." Another one is dressed in an old-style Aquaman costume.
Olivia D'Abo (Morgaine) also does the voice of Star Sapphire in the previous Injustice Gang episodes.
Morgaine's hench-soldiers at the beginning of the episode bear a strong resemblence to the Neo-Men - a group of (mostly) mindless soldiers which appeared in DC Comics' Camelot 3000 miniseries which featured a futuristic version of Morgaine Le Fay.
They get a new actor (Michael T. Weiss of The Pretender and The Legend of Tarzan) to do the voice of the Demon, rather than have Billy Zane reprise the role that he played in the Batman Gotham Knights episode "The Demon Within."
Superman, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern do not appear in this episode
Demon: Speaking normally Several people, only familiar with the current Demon, felt that the fact he doesn't speak in rhyme was a Goof. However, this episode is clearly a homage to Jack Kirby, who created the Demon in 1972 with a normal (if somewhat archaic) speech pattern. Alan Moore came up with the rhyming concept in the 80's in Swamp Thing over a decade later (and it's been used since). Also, within the animated series' continuity the non-rhyming is not a goof: the Demon also spoke normally in his previous Batman: Gotham Knights episode "The Demon Within."
Party-goers Among the guests at the costume party, you can see people dressed as New God characters Dr. Bedlam, the Black Racer, and Vykin the Black. Famed comic book writer Jack Kirby created all of these characters as well as the Demon himself. You can also, if you squint at the line of supposed "other Justice Leaguers", see "Goody Rickels", a very obscure Jack Kirby creation - a parody of Don Rickles in Jimmy Olsen Comics, issues #139 and 141.
Episode Title The episode title appears to be a reference to the song, Tom O'Bedlam's Song. "By a knight of ghosts and shadows, I summoned am to tourney, Ten leagues beyond the wide world's end-Methinks it is no journey."
Morgaine: Youth is so wasted on the young.
This is a paraphrase of one of the most famous quotes by George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950), an Irish playwright and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925.
Flash: I just read it for the articles.
Harv Hickman is pretty obviously a takeoff of Hugh Hefner (note the similar alliteration of the names) of Playboy Magazine in appearance - they don't mention that specifically because it's a kids show, but the Flash's comment is a typical one for many men who read such magazines.
