Easily, the strongest character in the series was Amazo the Android. Superman and Doomsday had one heck of a fight, but neither of them would have been able to put a dent in Amazo.
I hated AMAZO. The fact that he wasn't a fan made character was the only thing that stopped him from being a Gary Stu. AMAZO could copy anyone's powers and then he would just have them for good. Geez, JL witers, why didn't you just make him God? I can understand the importance of having formidable villains for the League to go against, but AMAZO was DBZ villain cheap. Characters with tons of powers and zero weaknesses annoy me to no end.

Sorry, but like him or not, you can't deny that he owns anyone in the series.

Other than AMAZO, I'd say the strongest hero is definitely Superman (duh) the strongest villian is Doomsday. Man, I'd give anything to see them fight the second time.

Amazo shouldn't have ever even been put on JL/JLU.

Because he is very powerful. I don't hate him so much, but imagine what will be happen if Amazo appeared in the episode "Destroyer". He can destroy Earth with just a simple thought. We don't need a Gary Stu.

I liked AMAZO. The others had to actually think on their feet to subdue him and, as "The Return" showed, they were at each others' throats in deciding what to do about him. That made for some great drama. He was practically the only Gary Stu in the show, so he wasn't as annoying as he would've been in Dragonball Z (where everyone is unstoppable). The fact that AMAZO was initially evolving made him an incredibly interesting villain, since if he had decided to destroy Earth in "The Return", it would've been on the Leagues' consciences for not stopping him when they had the chance in "Tabula Rasa". Frankly, the idea of a "God"-type villain has always appealled to me a lot, especially one able to copy the powers of others, since it makes a change and turns the plot into a race against time. I agree that he had to go or at least get toned down, but IMO he delivered one of the all-time best JL/JLU stories: "The Return".

I don't exactly think that "The Return" was the best of the JL/JLU stories but to me the ep is more in the top 10. Now the one with Shazam is a winner or the one with the Legion of Super Heroes, "Far From Home".

The episode with Captain Marvel (Shazam) was titled "Clash". And I also enjopyed that episode. However, I didn't much care for "The Return", because I don't like AMAZO. And I also didn't like "Far From Home", 1) because one of my favorite Legionnaires Chameleon Boy, was barely in the episode, and 2) I didn't buy Supergirl's motivation for staying in the 31st century for one minute. Kara only knew Brainiac 5 for about 4 hours and just like that, she's willing to leave her old life, her family and friends, and the only home that she ever knew just to be with him? In a word "Cheesy!" I mean, come on. The JLU writers should have been able to come up with a better reason for Kara to abandon her old life and stay in the future other than a mere schoolgirl crush. What if they break up a week later? Supergirl would look and feel pretty stupid if it doesn't work out between  her and Brainy. I like the Legion of Super Heroes version of Brainiac 5 better anyway. The JLU version of Brainy was kind of a lamer, IMHO.

If Amazo wanted to destroy the JLU, he would (easily) and if he didn't want to destroy the JLU then there would be no point in him being there. If he's not going to fight on the show if he is invincible than what's the point of him being on the show. Amazo is pointless on the show, if he doesn't fight because he is invincible and he is not doing anything on the show because of his invicibility than why is he on the show?

Why the hostility, Silverstar. I never stated whether or not I liked the character. My view he is simply objective. The question posed here is, "who is the strongest Justice League hero/villain?". The answer: AMAZO. It's as simple as that. Now I do happen to like the character, however it is easy for me to see why others, like yourself, do not.

Candidly, almost everyone on these forums is outspoken (including myself). They say what's on their mind. That said, Silver should entitle everyone to their opinion about who they think is the strongest hero without, "Hostility" as you put it.

In a strength contest, AMAZO WOULD be the strongest because he's is a GARY STU.

It basically means a flawless character. The female version would be Mary Sue.
