Justice League Unlimited, which has finished its final season, had its ups and downs, but all in all it was a terrific show that opened up the DC universe to a wider audience.
Now that Justice League Unlimited has finished its final season, it's a good time to reflect on its impact and legacy. The show had its ups and downs, but all in all it was a great successor to other DC cartoons like the animated Batman and Superman series, as well as Batman Beyond. It may even have outdone those shows in that it opened up the DC universe and its heroes to a wider audience. I had seen superheroes such as Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Lantern before, but I knew hardly anything about them. After Justice League was refurbished into Justice League Unlimited, I met even more superheroes I had never even heard of. Not only did Justice League introduce me to the fascinating and diverse powers and personalities of DC's superheroes, it also set itself apart from other action cartoons by exploring a multitude of serious issues such as weapons proliferation, sexism and religion. Not every episode was perfect, but at its highpoints the show could be wonderfully entertaining as well as intellectually stimulating. My personal favorite episodes are 'Paradise Lost,' in which Wonder Woman rescues her fellow Amazons amid a plethora of Greek mythology, and 'Starcrossed,' which explores the torn feelings of Hawkgirl as a spy for her homeworld and a protector of her adopted planet. I'm making it seem like Justice League was highly intellectual and serious, but we can't forget that it had plenty of great action and fighting. After all, it was aimed at boys. As Justice League Unlimited passes on the torch to the next DC cartoon, The Legion of Superheroes, I'll remember it as a terrific show. If there are ever reruns and you've never seen Justice League before, I strongly recommend you watch them.
Justice League Unlimited was another animated series with a big group of heroes to battle for the safety of the world. The thing I don't get is why is anyone other than Superman required to do anything unless they have Kryptonite? i mean seriously, is there a union thing that is something happens in the water that Auguqman has to go. I woould feel much better if superman was coming to save me rather than Auquaman, a dolphin, whale and a squid. Vocal talents were provided by George Newbern as Superman, Clark Kentand Kal-El, Phil LaMarr as Green Lanternand John Stewart, Maria Canals as Hawkgirl and Shayera Hol, Michael Rosenbaum as Flash and Wally West, Carl Lumbly as Martian Manhunter and J'onn J'onzz, Kevin Conroy as Batman and Bruce Wayne and Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman and Amazon Princess Diana. A pretty fun show to watch though. I would recommend it.
I really like this episode because they had a chance not ot hold back. Superman shows what he can do if he really hits someone. The flash showing what real speed can do. Batman showing he doesn't need any weapon. He is more then just a man. All of the character show why they are super heros/villians.
First on, this show is so cool. All the DC comic fans are going to love this show. I am not a DC fan myself, but this cartoon is just one of the most interesting cartoon I have ever seen.
This show is basically Earth's seven most respected heroes united as one to fight evil that brings threat to the Earth. With superheroes like Batman and Superman, this show is just great. They call themselves the Justice League on Superman's idea. The League originally consist of only seven: 1)Batman, The Caped Crusader, The Dark Knight 2)Wonder Woman, Princess Of Themyscera 3)Superman, better known as Clark Kent or Kal-el 4)The Flash, Wally West, The "Fastest Man Alive" 5)Green Lantern, John Stewart 6)The Martian Manhunter, Jonn Jonzz 7)Hawkgirl, Shayera Hol. But, as the episode goes on, more new superheroes were added into the league. That just makes the show all the more better.
this show is... is simply great, they have made many kind of things like this, even from Marvel or DC Comics that they united all the heroes from each and put them together to fight evil, but they were not so great nor that fascinating, but with Justice Leage the things changed.
I think it was primarily Smallville the one who make me watch this show, because Smallville is very great, but when I watch this show with Superman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and the rest, everyone is fascinating and very great episodes the ones that they do, they seriously know how to do episodes for this series, and they always bring villains from each of the comic characters, or they sometimes include some other DC Comic characters, and I think that is simply great, I mean how couldn't you like the action the hitting and everything...!
This show is EXCELLENT! I couldn't have thought of a better show. ...
Justice League (Unlimited) sets the example, showing the world what a great cartoon series should really be like. It has taken iconic heros like Batman, Superman, and Wonderwoman and has made them compelling for contemporary adiences, while staying true to their roots and the overall spirit of the characters. Unlike other director/producer's attached to previous attempts to make the DCU a media hit, (Joe Shumucker and to a lesser extent Tim Burton [ex:Batman II]), Bruce Timm and company have set themselves apart by truly accomplishing something fantastic and timeless.
Starting with the highly acclaimed and award winning Batman the Animated Series and ending with the equally praised Justice League Unlimited, Timm and company have taken audiences both young and old on an unbeleivable journey in which we have enjoyed the revamping of some of the greatest heros in all of comics as they take part in some of the most mememorable stories that have ever been seen in comic related media. Although characters and the stories that follow them have been upgraded Timm and Co. have been careful to keep them identifiable by incorporating their reconizable characterisitcs, which have sucessfully kept them authentic yet fresh. In so doing they have succeeded in creating one of the most respected universes related to comics, often referred to as the DCAU (Detective Comics Animated Universe).
Some have even come to prefer this continuity to that of the comics. The greatest reason perhaps being becuase of the fantastc story writing, with consistantly poignant arcs and twists, not to metion phenominal character devlopment. Another eqully important reason can be attributed to the many ways in which Timm and Co. have ironed out an otherwise wringled and highly unorganized continuity seen in the comics. Borrowing only the most influencial and memorable story ideas and character motiffs to create their highly adored Animated Universe.
Unlike other types of media relating the DCU (Detective Comics Universe, thanks to the DCAU's Flagship JLU (Justic League Unlimited) and other hallmark series such as Batman, and Superman the Animated series, this touchstone of comic related media will live on forever.
Personally, I have never in my life seen an animated run as highly acclompished and well done in my life. Unfortunately I probably never will again. Although I know there are countless others who share my love and admiration for the JLU and the rest of the DCAU, thanks laregly to Cartoon Network and the WB "bank rollers" this is the end of a legend in animation. Timm as gone on record as saying that he no longer can tolerate the way the DCAU's shows like JLU and Teen Titans have been handled by the Network, and has decided to put it all to rest. They have had a phenominal run and thanks to DVD we can enjoy the shows of DCAU for some time to come. But I hope Cartoon Network doesn't expect us to keep interest in them (At least not me). As they continuosly seperate themsleves from their own name by continuosly palying movies like "Ace Ventura", or shows like "Saved by the Bell," instead of worthy animation like Justice League, or JLU, or any of the DCAU, even if its reruns. "Hell, at least it would be animation!"
Other than "Batman: The Animated Series", this is most likely the best show that involves everyone's favorite superheroes--from the DC Universe at least. The action, writing, directing, and voice overs are top notch. It's a shame though that this show has come close, yet won't, reach 100 episodes (not even "B: TAS" reached it). I'm glad Kevin Conroy stuck around to do Batman here, he's king as Batman. Every other hero is done perfectly of course and the show does a good job of staying as true as they can to the comics and putting all of DC's heroes together without being too dorky for a cartoon. In fact, this show is anything but dorky!
For any superhero fan (late or early), this is definitely your show!
The strange thing is that I grew up on Marvel Comics. The most contact I ever had with DC was through Superfriends and the Superman movies. Then Justice League came along. I was blown away by how great this series was. I think it was fantastic that they managed to incorporate so many different heroes, as well as the plethora of villains we were treated to.
I thought it was a really nice touch that this last season was a bit of a throwback to the old Legion of Doom stories from years ago. There was every chance they could have made this as cheesy as the Superfriends was, but they didn't.
This is a great show that will be sorely missed and I'm sure will one day be seen as an absolute classic.
After watching variations or individual programs over the past four decades of DC Superheroes this is definitely the top best program of them all. I have definitely enjoyed all of them because the 60s cartoons were definitely suited for my young age at the time and introduced me to the DC Universe and as I progressed in age the next continuation was better or age appropriate as I also started seeing the comic books. Therefore, this has been an evolving quality of program, storytelling with Justice League Unlimited at the top and this includes the few live action shows I have watched over the same 40 some years. I am not ashamed to say this because it has been a part of my life and will never deny it. I may be one of a few who will say this on any internet related site or in person.
It's lively, hip, tasteful and some what mature tone makes it a great show for today's broad audience, kids and adults alike. Accordingly, with the steady rise of super hero themes in movies and media, this show delivers a tasteful entertaining show very appropriate for the growing number of comic/super hero fans out there. This is a positive fictional action adventure show suitable for audience of all ages. It is an exciting renovative take on all our childhood superhero and heroines for the new generations of kids, and older fans to enjoy. However, it still retains the essence of the original ideas and concepts of the older superfriends, such as hope, peace, integrity, compassion and call to action, but revamped to appeal to the audience from what was now and then.
A continueation of a great show. Justice League Unlimited has been one of my all time favorite shows to watch. And I speak for many fans when I say Im sad to see it go.
A continueation of a great show. Justice League Unlimited has been one of my all time favorite shows to watch. And I speak for many fans when I say Im sad to see it go. I can't imagine why anyone would dislike this show. It was about a group of superheros around the globe fighting the forces of evil across the galaxy. With great graphic for battle scenes and even better storylines. Any superhero fan would enjoy watching this show. The only down side of this show was its cancelation. Good bye Justice League Unlimited. You will be missed. Hopefuly... they're might be a spin-off.
this show is one of the greatest animated shows ever to hit Toonami. or should I say tv. It's an amazing show with very good plots and stories that intruige the people watching it. This show is amazing and should be seen by ever teenager in the world. If every teenager in the world saw this show, they would automatically fall in love with it becuase of the plotting and characters of the show. It's so great because all of your favorite characters are in it and there is even some new characters that you will begin to like after a while or maybe even right away. Theirs just so many characters that if you had the chance to take one of their powers, you wouldn't know which one to pick because they are all so amazing!!!
This is the best show ever, too bad the second weekend of May (13th)is the last time a new episode will air. I wish there is something I can do to keep this show going. Maybe I\'ll record every show that Boomerang is airing on my dvd recorder and create my very own JLU library. This show has allowed me to teach my sons about; Teamwork, Respect, Honesty and Fun. I grew up on \"Super Friends\" (woke up every Saturday morning without an alarm clock) and my sons make sure that I Tivo every episode (on Cartoon Network and Boomerang). Wish I knew the producers and exec\'s to tell them just how important this show is to me, my family and friends (at UPS (Roswell)).
This new Justice League is unstoppble when it comes to fighting. If they fail they just come back and whoop but again. Nothing can stop them plus the fact that they basiccaly have an army. If they wanted they can all just attack the main enemy base and do
This show is a cool show. The regular justice league was nice to but all the advancements that were made brought its rating up. Green Lantern is way stronger and has mor abilities so does superman,Flash and all the rest. My favorite would be flash because he is fast strong and create a tornado that could probly destroy most of the town. Hawk would probly be the attractive one in the group. The wings make her look like an angel. al the characters have grown stronger throughtout the episodes. which is good fighting lex and all the other villians that have also grew. I would probly give it a 100% rating if I had to. It would also make a great game. They might have already made it though.
This is one of the greatest shows of all time!!!! JLU incorporates all of the DC comics universe. Almost every character(old and new) has been on this show!!! I don\'t want this show to go away!!!!!!!!!!!! On a scale of 1 to 10 this show gets a 20!!!!!!!!!!!! Cartoon Network is crazy to get rid of this show!!! Justice League Unlimited is even better than the old Superfriends cartoon of the seventies and eighties!!!!!! Cartoon Network never appreciated this show!!! I could understand if Paul Dini and the writing staff wanted to stop. I believe it is the fault of Cartoon Network for abandoning this show in order to show CRAP!!!!!!!!!!
the only complaint about this show is that it ends this season. i am an addicted fiend and demand this show continues. well hopefully the legion of superheroes, the new show coming to kids wb, or kids "CW" will be good. It all started five years ago when seven superheroes would unite to battle Earth's (and some other universes') villians to protect society with peace and justice. This show was a classic ranking on top with the animated batman series, not the current one, the one that was back in the 90's. it is sad to see this show go as three years ago, the show expanded to more heroes with "UNLIMITED" and it was just that. There was no restrictions, as we got a chance to look at the other heroes, with several cameos from the original seven. New favorites like Green Arrow, Supergirl, Black Canary, and a few others made the show refreshing, even though it never went stall. I already know the conclusion of the series, and it is wonderful. Enough said, catch the finale in May on cartoon network, and you should see why this is one of the best shows ever shown.
This show is by far one of the best. Although is kinda strays from the actual storyline, it more than makes up for it in animation. It closly resembles the earlier Batman and Superman series short lived on the WB. I hope this does not face the same demise.
This program has a scheduled recording on my dvr regardless
Ok, so I really think this show is a classic. Finally, six reknown heroes: Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern unite and just to make it better, two other: Martian and Hawk Girl join them. Season one was pretty good, season 2 better and from season 3 onwards the plot changes. More heroes, more villains, better predicaments...
I think that episodes will be out for as long as it will be watched, so expect to see episode 300 :).
Great job DC comics I say, your best show EVER. Perhaps a movie will be out too. Anyway, I think MARVEL should do the same. Someting like: X-Men + Spider-Man + F4 + Iron Man and bunch + Hulk + Punisher/Daredevil, etc. Don't you...
This is so cool. Whos yo fave character? I like the Martian Man Hunter.(otherwise known as John)(the alien). Send me a message on who you like. If i was a girl id probly be Wonder Woman. My fave show is actually naruto but this is next.Bla Bla Bla send me a message. We can be friends.
The Justice Leauge is one of the best shows of all time. It has so many heros that every body can watch and relate. They have Superman, The Flash, and Wonderwomen. As long as they keep makeing new episodes or series then the shows should countinue to flurish. The episodes are so intense i can watch some episodes over and over.
This show uses DC Comics characters which is very cool. Any DC Comic book reader will be pleased because this show is very similiar to the comic book. Earth has a large amount of heroes protecting it in the Watch Tower with seven original founders. This show has action, comedy and romance all rolled into one. Plus every season itintroduces more and more cool characters and villians. This is truly a great show.
I hope now that the Legion is coming into play, maybe Supergirl will be showing as much cleavage as Power Girl does.....she has to attract Brainiac 5, after all. Those hot red boots in the air, while B5 mounts her....go, girl!!!
I would hope that we see cameos of other Legionnaires. And the big question is will Saturn Girl don her classic pink bikini costume???
I was an avid Batman The Animated Series watcher when it originally aired. I never got much into the DC Universe and saw the popularity of Justice League and even had friends recommend the series to me. I think we blew threw the first 50 episodes in under two weeks. This series prompted more interest in the comic books and now my personal favorites are Batman and The Flash.
Justice League is such a well written and designed series. I enjoyed every episode up to the Unlimited series. I'm not against the new characters but the stories themselves seemed to change to less interesting blah bits. There were good bits but nothing as good as the original bit.
It's quite disheartening how Cartoon Network treated the end of Unlimited. I'm not sure all the details of why they are delaying the last few episodes yet aired them in the UK but that just feels wrong. Also the handling of the DVD releases of Unlimited (by the WB i guess) is also a let down so I'm glad to have seen the originals.
JLU is a great show. Cartoon Network needs to be beat about the head for mistreating these legendary characters. I pay my cable bill and I would like to see something besides the weirdness of current Japanese anime.....which CN has more than enough of. If this truly is the last of the League series, CN should give the show a solid timeslot. And how about some reruns of Justice League? How about having the show in the daily line-up? How about leaving the show on the air in some form or fashion for about 6 months? Who is running the network, untrained primates?
By the same creator who brought you Batman, Batman Beyond and Superman, Justice League reminds us why this animation team is one of america's best.
First, though some creative liberties were take, the core charactor qualities were retained. This is a balancing act that this creative team seems to always do.
Now on to characters. We'll skip Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Manhunter because they are obvious choices. First, I like that they chose the younger Flash for the comedic value. Second, Hawkgirl, I like her but when it comes down to just another flier that pack a big punch. I understand wanting another female character, but I can think of many others females with different powers. Finally, Green Lantern (John Stewert), I would of like to have seen the original Hal Jordan but I can see why they picked John and he really is a good strong character.
Over all this is a great show. The only two problems: why is Superman such a wimp in season one and I HATE BATMAN'S LONG EARS. Go back to the shorter ears, please.
This was truly one of the best TV shows ever , a vast improvement from the majority of superhero shows nowadays that are just fighting and giant robots. It is not just for kids despite its Y7 rating , this show appeals to adults as well. It has great characters and VOs that match. It is unfortunate that this show was cancelled to make way for other shows (like the ones mentioned above) but there are always the box sets to keep you company. Highly recomended
I can't believe that they changed at the last minute. I had my vcr all set to record. then when I went to watch it I saw something totaly different. Why would you change your programing last minute. I was all excited about the next episode now i have to wait like a month. Cartoon network what is the deal. Somebody tell me what is happening.
All of our comic book heroes put into a cartoon show, with some great writers for the storyline. Justice League Unlimited has a great potential, but its too bad its going to be cancelled just like Teen Titans. Now I just hope that they make a comic book with Justice League Unlimited just like they did Teen Titans.
The way Cartoon Network treats this show and its airtime, one would only assume that this is show is anything less-than-mediocre. However, after watching each season and it's progression, it is safe to label this show as one of the best on Television fit
To save myself from writing a tedious and lengthy review, I will try to make this sweet and simple.
Justice League, and it's predesecor Justice League Unlimited each contain seven bright characters with their own charming personality. Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Superman, Batman, The Flash and The Martian Manhunter. These make up the main cast and each shows their adventures throughout.
As I am not feeling up to par, I will end it here with saying--Watch the show, you WON'T regret it. In fact, you may even find yourself buying the DVD boxed sets, or in my case, downloading them off the internet :-X.
Whatever the case--The show is great and it deserves a 10/10.
