A mad dash for cash put all of our characters on each others' tails this week in one of the most entertaining episodes of the season.

What an episode of Justified tonight. Easily the best of the season as it had all the elements you watch, strong authentic dialogue, a lot of action including a big explosion at the end, and the show just leaving you wanting more. Raylan's pursuit of Quarles has been great and their final showdown should be great next week.

What I do know is that this was a highly-entertaining hour of TV.moreless

Gone are the days when Justified pushed things aside to meet a "villain of the week" quota that most other series have now. So many threads plotwise make it nearly impossible for Justified to squeeze out a villain of the week and keep the Qarles invasion as engaging as it is. That being said the serialized storyline is really working Justified's groove into whole new awesome territory. All of the factions trying to set each one against one another. Boyd teaming up with Earl and Dickie to hit the bank where Limehouse allegedly keeps Mags' money stashed, Wynn Duffy double dealing with Boyd to kill off Qarles as well as setting Qarles against Boyd after he hits the bank. The more intense parts of the episode were Arlo seeing a hallucination of dead Helen since he hasn't been taking his "medication" whatever that is to counteract some sort of condition it can cause this. I was legitimately worried about Ava for a minute there when Arlo put the gun in her face. Also Boyd's beatdown on Dickie was well paced and his whole improvised "hurt him in every conceivable way with what I have around me before killing him" method really worked as Goggins got justice for Ava's near death last season. Raylan was put onto the trail of Qarles by Limehouse and the local PD keeps and eye on Boyd and Dickie and Earl and their crew as they prepare to hit the bank. But Boyd smells a rat and suspects Earl is setting them up for Limehouse which he acknowledges. Earl redirects Dickie once they escape Johnny who is watching over them and Earl leads Dickie to Loretta's house which Raylan already got tipped off at Dickie would be headed to by Limehouse. Raylan's words to Dickie were cruel and true, saying that he only thinks that he's tough and he's going to go back to jail not even a week after having been released. Raylan never telling him to put the gun down meant that he wanted Dickie to give him an excuse to shoot him but I don't think we're done with Dickie just yet. Qarles's escape at the beginning of the episode was slimy and perfect, as he outsmarted his captors as easily and putting his clothes back on. That really validates his "particular skill set" and Tonin's saying that "If you know Bobby like I do you'd take the 100k" meaning he's hard to kill, just like Raylan. The last scene of Boyd and Qarles's standoff with Johnny as backup for Boyd I had a feeling it would be the end for one or both of them but the bomb that Duffy and Boyd put under the car goes off just as Qarles pulls his quick draw with his sleeve cannons as the bomb goes off and Boyd gets KO'd by hitting his head and Johnny falls out of his chair. The cop that Raylan has been working with for the past two seasons heading up the local Harlan PD gets killed by Qarles leaving Raylan to once again have a personal stake in taking Qarles down. This episode served as true testament that this show has the capability to juggly so many factions and now I feel like we have an even deepen understanding of the type of man Limehouse is. Excited for the finale and Season 4 should continue this wave of excellence.moreless
