  • Get Drew

Good to see the return of Limehouse here, and the multiple games of cat and mouse with kidnappees, but they are really pushing the boundaries of reality this season. No police involvement in all of these schemes, none whatsoever?

But good episode if you choose to ignore that.
  • nice episode.

the season's unfolding interestingly enough. looks like hell's coming next episode.
  • The Drew Thompson Boogie

Things heated up in Harlan this week as all parties converged on Shelby (Drew) as he prepares to get out of the country. His going for Ellen May was predictable but decent of him and much like the moment in any story when you know the character has lost their chance to escape as a result (like in Heat). The marshals set up roadblocks stopping every car out of the city. Shelby's plan was to take his own plane out of there but he suspects that they're on to him in a tense scene. Luckily Ellen May is driving and he sees the lights on at the airport and doesn't get caught. Shelby gets the idea to go to Noble's Holler and give Ellen May over to Limehouse in exchange for the 15 grand he has left from his Tonin rip-off back in the day. It was great to see Limehouse back again and Mykelti Williamson slipped right back into his role delivering quite a power house performance. But word travels fast around Harlan and Limehouse takes Shelby hostage knowing that he's in fact Drew. Boyd's scene at the beginning trying to convince the marshals to let him go was typical Boyd's silver tongued efforts and finally Rachel told him to shove it. Boyd is sprung loose from prison and finds out that Drew and Ellen May are in Noble's but that Limehouse wants 150,000 dollars for each of them which would clean his enterprise out. Ava was in fact the one at Nobles in the first place finding out about Ellen May showing up. When Boyd gets there Limehouse tells a moving monologue about his dream of driving a plane full of friends which leads to him saying that it'll take the whole 300k to spring one of the hostages. After his call to Nicky Augustine telling him the price plus 200k, or if he was just talking of reimbursement I'm not sure, this led to some sturdy conflict. Colt promises to make his mistake right which sets Johnny on edge and Duffy says that he better be the one to find Drew first if he ever wants to be first in command in Harlan. Johnny slips his info to the Marshals in exchange for Raylan possibly putting Boyd in prison later on for illegal activities. I had actually completely forgotten who Delroy was at this point so remembering that he and the other guy were the old owners of Audrey's was an "oh yeah" moment for me. I knew Boyd would choose Shelby/Drew because he has to deliver him to Augustine to get Tonin what he wants, but his not wanting to risk Ava's well-being by betting on Ellen May was a great as well. Johnny's little spurt on Boyd added some great credibility to my believing he's fed up with his cousin and why he hadn't sided with Devil last season if he was indeed so sick of Boyd being in charge. Although Raylan is right when he tells him that he got shotgunned because of being a criminal. Colt takes Shelby/Drew to a field and handcuffs him to a tractor where a helicopter comes in to take him away. How about that scene where I was sure that Colt would shoot Shelby dead? I thought for sure he would, what a relief that he laughed it off in that way. Of course Drew would try anything to get free and not be given over to Tonin. But thanks to Johnny's information the Marshals show up just when the helicopter lands and Augustine has to fly it out of there. The Marshals now have Drew in custody and Limehouse has Ellen May. With Tonin's other guys in the FBI, and nobody apparently searching for Agent Barkley who's been dead for a really long time it seems, people in law enforcement could snake Drew out of their clutches to deliver him to Tonin. But Art's right with how much of a badass Drew is. Shooting Tonin, hiding right under their noses, having two jobs in law enforcement and then running off with a whore half his age. I also like that Art acknowledged how hard it was to get around Harlan showing just how valuable Raylan is to the team. I hope that they bring the whole Tim/Colt conflict back up though in the next few episodes. Surely Duffy is smart to run to get away from Tonin's wrath of the Marshals getting Drew before Augustine and Boyd too. Tonin's reach goes far and we're going to see just how far even if the top Dixie Mafia guy is turning tail to run from him. Seeing deeper into Drew/Shelby and his bit about wanting to have seen the world if he hadn't broken his legs in the airplane fall and his monologue to Boyd about having gotten the Chowders out of the mud with his stimulus package of cocaine he ripped off of Tonin. Now things get into overdrive as the Marshals try to get out of Harlan with Drew alive and everyone of Tonin's going after Boyd, Duffy, and the Marshals for their failure. No telling what will happen to Ellen May now, although it looks like she'll squeal about Delroy I'm sure causing Limehouse more trouble than he bargained for. But this was a very solid episode that got us more Drew and got everyone jumpstarted into looking for him. Also since Art's going to retire I can see Raylan, if he gets out alive and with Drew, writing his own ticket to another office and getting out of Kentucky or even into Art's position next season but I would be much happier seeing that go to Rachel or Tim and seeing Raylan go somewhere else. I don't see him leaving so long as Winona stays put with their baby in Lexington so surely he will have Art's post in the beginning of Season 5, provided he delivers Drew to the powers that be and Tonin goes down.moreless
