      7.0
Boyd Crowder is getting involved in a lot of people's lives and I love it. An intense season further intensified tonight as we saw handcuffs, violence, deceit and everything in between. Qarles has been a great character for this show and I look forward to seeing how he handles his situation, but right now this was a high octane, fun hour of television.
    • Falling Down

      9.0
Qarles tries desperately to regain his footing in Harlan County and when two Detroit thugs head after Raylan because Wynn Duffy told them he would know where Qarles is. This episode brought us much closer to a conclusion but didn't give any overarching hints as to where that might in fact be. Raylan teaming up with Art was cool seeing that Art likes to go out into the field every once in a while. His somewhat advice givings to Raylan as his surrogate father like father (he even mentions Arlo) about not getting himself killed before his son is born is something Raylan in needs to hear. Tim and Rachel taking down the men that Dickie Bennett called down to Harlan with a plan to attack Noble's Hollar and take all of Limehouse's money that he owes him was a good step writing wise as it gave them something to do since they've been sidelined the last few episodes and showed just how desperate Dickie is to get his money now that he's out of prison. Qarles killing the two low life drug dealers paying protection money to Boyd and stealing their drugs to get protection from the men looking for him was well staged and proved how very dangerous and on edge Qarles must be in his state of mind. Boyd's countermeasure against Qarles and Duffy's double dipping against Qarles and the Detroit thugs show just how slimy of an opportunist he is and wanting to come out on the winning side of whatever happens. Tonin not so much promising him he can run the oxy side down in Kentucky was very manipulative and Duffy will surely have to deliver in order to even be considered to run things in Harlan. Bernard and Dickie's ultimate alliance and the potential downfall of Limehouse will prove to be very interesting to see how it plays out since how he claims it people won't openly oppose Limehouse but if he goes down he will have their loyalty. Tim also delivered his own signature sense of humor to this episode and Rachel was discriminated against again for being a black female Marshal by a racist Tennessee thug. Tim seizing the money that Dickie settles for is really funny and he won't be seeing anything of it ever again. Boyd's takedown of Qarles with the taser is good and Tonin cautioning Duffy to just kill Qarles rather than delivering him to Sammy alive for pointing a gun at him because he's so dangerous. So Qarles will have to die but in what fashion with 2 episodes still left to go. Raylan and Art taking down the two Detroit thugs who could've solved his Qarles problem for him was ironic in all the right ways after he realizes that they're there to kill Qarles and not to help him after all. Justified is really delivering this season but one thing is that the character's aren't as developed as they could be at this stage and it's more like other than Raylan things just keep building and happening around them, there could literally be a whole show without Raylan and the Marshals just focusing on Boyd and the power struggles of Harlan and Kentucky in general. Lots of threads to weave together but now things can really start to happen before we close this excellent season.moreless
