The dialogue in this show makes it a gripping watch. On the surface the premise and some of the plotlines can border on preposterous but the dialogue and acting are to such a high level it has me hooked on the edge of my seat. The relationships between Raylan and Boyd/Tim/Art are fantastically observed. Gripping drama that often seems more like a dark comedy.
The acting and writing on this show put it far and above anything else on TV. The characters are so finely formed and the nuances given to each of them are amazing. How else could you look at a character like Boyd and feel sad as he breaks into a house and stares at what could have been and mourns for a life he and Ava planned in spite of all the evil he has done. This show has not received the recognition it deserves. I have never hung on every episode of any show as I have with this and hate to wait til it returns.
This is a fantastic show. Everyone I have told to watch this show is hooked. Such a great show. I think it is one of my favorite shows and hate having to wait a week to see the next episode. Going to really drive me nuts having to wait all summer for the next season to start. Gotta love Raylan and Boyd both.
Exceptional acting, great writing. This show was awesome from episode 1 and still continues to be one of the best shows on tv today. Timothy Olyphant rules!!!
This show is the best action show on TV!!! Olmyphant aka Raylan Givens is a Mountain type of Dirty Harry character, kick their ass and ask questions later! My kind of guy! Just as the name of the show, Raylan is OUT FOR JUSTICE, which ever way the wind direction takes him, he is up for the game and ALWAYS comes through! My spouse and I LOVE the way the action that the show brings, no yawning while Justifed is on, it keeps in suspense! You NEVER know what might happen next! GREAT WRITING and Timothy is a GREAT actor, as is guy who plays Boyd. Wasn't familiar with him before this show, but it wouldn't be the same without him. I did recognize him in Cowboys & Aliens, but Justified was first, and will remain first unless someone can top this FIRE CRACKER SHOW!!! KUDOS!!!
My husband and I were watching season 2, of Justified, episode 6, Blaze of Glory, when Doug noticed Art's open fly when he began to chase the old bank robber. Did anyone else notice this?
When The Shield ended, a lot of us really had nothing to watch, as Rescue Me was also wrapping up. I was addicted from the first episode, and I have never missed taken me a bit, but I finally don't see "Boyd" as "Shane" anymore. :) took me a while, I was a die hard fan of The Shield. :) Timothy is brilliant and the way all the characters play off of each other make the show so very entertaining and make me want more!
Justified is quality programming. This is the reason people love fx. I thought Fx would suck when ''the shield'' died, but they've had so many good show till i'm now a true believe. I do wish Justified had a little more Rachel in it. Other than that a can only say , well done.
just saw when this excellent show comes back and I am PUMPED! Lots of great characters, strong writing and superb acting. Cannot get enough of this show.
The stories are always exciting, from start to finish with no lags. You'd expect this from creator Graham Yost, who excels at action plots.
The characters are interesting and quirky. These are not stock characters but complex people with complicated motives. For example, in the 2nd season, the crime boss is a mother who tortures one of her sons when he disobeys her - but then lets him hug her. A weird but believable moment that created genuine intrigue - who is this cruel woman with a soft spot?
Scott Olyphant as Raylon Givens is just so strong. You know he could carry the show all on his own episode after episode. But he doesn't need to because the rest of the cast is exceptional, too, especially the guy who plays Boyd Crowder.
Two strong female leads - both love interests to Raylon - keep the drama crackling.
Probably my favorite and has my vote for best show on tv right now. The story arcs are fabulously and the characters are top notched and superbly acted
The only thing that would make this show better, would be if it were on HBO so they could be a little less constricted. Love this show. "The next one's coming faster." We rewound that like 10 times. Raylan is a classic man's man, few of which exist on TV anymore. Wouldn't wanna marry the guy, but I'd take a one-night stand. Yum.
Don't you just love the Justified theme song "Long Hard Times To Come" by Gangstagrass, a group of musicians from NYC who blend bluegrass and rap together creating a genre that has rarely been experimented with before?! Gangstagrass released their newest album "Rappalachia" last month and it's been getting some great reviews. It's a great 15 track album filled with awesome hip-hop bluegrass music featuring guests such as rap legend Kool Keith. Check out the band at www.gangstagrass.com and help spread the word about them!
This show is amazing! I only started watching it about half-way through season 3, but I was hooked! Even my hubby really got in to this show! I can't wait until next season!!!
Givens is seated in a diner. His phone rings and he answers. Scene cuts to a local law enforcement officer in a car, on the phone with Givens. From the backseat, we see the officer in rear quarter-profile, with the restaurant through the windshield.
Officer: Well, I didn't figured Lester would wait long, and he didn't.
Givins: What? (Not a surprised what, a give-me-the-information what)
Officer: Rory showed Lester some bruises on her arm she got when you took that little .22 away from her. Looks like he's planning on scaring you off, with a little public humiliation on the side, 'cause their man is waiting for you right outside, should be a good dinner show for those folks by the windows."
Givens hangs up, puts some bills on the table and walks out.
A large guy is standing in the middle of the sidewalk out front.
Large Guy: "I was told you need an ass-kicking before you leave town."
Givens: "Ass-kickens never come as much of a surprise, but I didn't know I was leaving town."
Large Guy punches his palm. Large Guy: Knuckle and skull."
Givens indicates that something has just occurred to him, does the raised index, give-me-a-second gesture, pats his pockets and pulls a very little .22 revolver out of his pocket and casually points it at Large Guy.
Large Guy smirks, "You kidding?"
Givens: "You think you can take me in a straight-up fight?"
Large Guy: "I'll kick your ass, little man."
Givens: "You're probably right, so let's do it this way; you come on and I'll shoot you six times with this little pistol. Three times in the chest, cause that hurts like a bitch, and three times in the guts, cause that will often cause a man to immediately crap his pants, which is a real discouragement. Then we'll have our fight."
Large Guy's eyes cut up and to the left, clearly imagining fighting with six holes and messy pants.
Large Man (unsure, grasping): "They' just send somebody else to kick your ass."
Givens: "I figure, which is a problem, cause I just don't scare worth a damn. Probably a character defect, cause it does result in me getting my ass kicked on a regular basis."
A voice from off camera calls; "Hey Harvey, you're blocking legal access on that sidewalk, I'd hate to have to call your P.O." Camera pans to show the local law enforcement officer standing by his car, door open, one leg up on the lower door frame. Large Guy looks momentarily relieved, then blusters;
Large Guy: "Well - I guess your lucky."
As Givens turns away dismissively. Givins: Think so? Maybe I'll buy a Scratcher tonight."
Justified and I see deadwood people.
All in all a good show with intense action, intense calm and intense light hearted moments brought on by Tim's character.
It's a good show. Intense action, written and acted well. The part fits Tim's persona so well it had to be written for him. I'm especially pleased that at least 3 of Tim's co-stars from Deadwood were on the show (played as Dan Dority, Johnny Burns and Con Stapleton) I'm pretty sure I saw Trixie in a very early episode but I'm not sure. Hopefully Calamity Jane will show up as a love interest.
There is way to much time spent on ridiculous religious dialog and the one episode where the Boyd Crowder got the liven hell beat out of him. Jaw punched at least 9 times from different directions, then he was able to preach, yell and cry with no apparent jaw damage and no facial bruising. Take a look at the Godfather, remember Michael's face after one punch? ...that was "real".
The Crew & Production has done a excellent job to the film & TV industry. Keep it up. The writer and producer you've done it GOOD! The main is the character such as Raylan Givens, Boyd Crowder, Winona Hawkins,Ava Crowder. These are those that should maintain in this drama because the cast succeed to play role the character very well. Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins all of you've alive the character excellently! Keep it up man! love "Justified" too much. The Cast, The Storyline and all scene is such as perfect. - Sapiqalo79(Malaysia)The Crew & Production has done a excellent job to the film & TV industry. Finally! We've been 'Justified'!! Can't get enough!the actors and writing just meld. reminds me of late 1960's storylines. In our family this drama is NO.1 from ages 19-83. That says alot as we live all over North America. This show is not to be missed.
Finally! We've been 'Justified'! Great story lines, realistic yet not over-the-top scenarios. amazing actor interaction.
'Justified' is the first drama that isn't a copycat of everything else on TV, which is why all age groups are grappling for great/good viewing.
This show is a winner for all the right reasons. It reminds me of 60's-70's TV dramas:)
Love it and never miss it.I can't wait until the next season. I hope the writers stay on this interesting, realistic path. the humour/drama mix works when so many shows fall flat. Steering away from the 'going the extreme' to shock viewers is working for this series.
I dont know where to begin to say all the great things I want to say about this show. I absolutley love it. It is well written and most certainly well casted with Timothy Olyphant at the helm, how could you ask for anything more. Can you tell that I am a really big fan of his?? It all started in Deadwood. This is the best new show on TV I hope it gets great reviews and great ratings. If people have taste for tv I dont know how they can not live this. It has everything from gun fights to drug lords to love scenes. I hope we have this show for lots more seasons to come. Kudos to the writers and most of all to the great cast who make the characters believeable and exciting. Love you Mr. Olyphant. Keep up the great work.
I love, love, love this show. It is the perfect vehicle for Timothy Olyphant, who exudes cool, confident, and cowboy, all at the same time. It makes you miss the best westerns and the actors portraying the lawmen in them.
What is the essence of "cool"? You know the people who have it (Samuel L. Jackson, anyone?), or who had it (the late Paul Newman) - but can anyone tell why some people have so much cool it seems to escape from their pores - and others, no matter how hard they try, will never get it. Having said this - the show, the character, and the writing of the show "Justified", fit Timothy Olyphant like a glove, just because he is so cool.
The Raylan Givens' stories were created by Elmore Leonard, and although this wasn't the case, you could imagine them written with this actor in mind. I say this show is perfect because watching it is not only entertaining, but, to me, it's like watching someone you know and admire doing something they were born to do. The plots become secondary - just make sure Mr. Olyphant is in every scene, and I'll be a happy camper.
