A tantalizing set-up episode pulls all the separate factions closer to the middle and Raylan has his poor heart broken.

  • Episode Summary

Boyd continues to try and take control of the town's oxy trade, giving Raylan problems trying to stop an all out war in the process.

    • Oxy Hustle

Justified started with a particularly brutal opening this week with Boyd's oxy-clinic, which is seen by two young women who are given what they see as an unfair amount of pills. So to get more they try to sex up the doc giving it to them and while this is happening two men burst in with shotguns and blow away all the people there except for one of the young women (who is a prostitute), and one of the victims was one of Limehouse's informants on Boyd's operation in the first place. Following Winona's stepping out of the house and Raylan trying to find her he asks for some time off but he is told by Art that he needs to go to Harlan to sort out the clinic mess since it was in his Aunt Helen's name. The prostitute named Ella May, who witnessed the clinic shoot out is beaten by her seeming pimp and locked in his trailer near the bar he works at. Raylan finds computer searches for Costa Rica on Winona's work computer and worries about her fleeing the country so he also checks the evidence locker and finds the money from the bank robbery from last seaon missing. He goes to Boyd at Johnny's Bar and tells him that he needs to stop condemning and using his family name and screwing it up with oxy clinics and giving him a bad reputation and quite frankly making him look rather corrupt. Boyd considers it may be Qarles who ordered the hit on his oxy clinic but he won't strike back and start a war until he is sure. He enlists Ava to go search out information and she finds the bar where Ella May's pimp is at, Ella May also appeared last season. Raylan teams up with Ava and they both interrogate Ella May and when the pimp finds them Raylan tells him to wait outside and when he threatens Raylan again he pistol whips him in the face. Raylan then confronts the owner of another newly set up oxy clinic under Qarles and his associates that is just closing up with the identification that Tanner, their leader, was the lead shooter at Boyd's clinic. When Raylan tells him he has been fingered in the murder by an eyewitness Tanner pulls a gun and a shootout on the road commences and Tanner is dealt with. What's interesting is that it's revealed that Qarles tortures that man in the room of the house that he and Duffy visit often and that he is in fact not behind the attack on the clinic. It's revealed that one of the Limehouse's underlings ordered the hit to get them to be "moved up" in the business of oxy but Limehouse says that he won't kill him instead he must face the fall out for his stupidity and the day will come soon when he'll wished that he had never done such a thing. Limehouse is intelligent and him explaining that the only reason their group has lasted for so long throughout history was by hiding in the shadows and now they're in the open as their enemies will surely put together the pieces. There is a war about to come on, and now that Qarles knows that Raylan is onto him with the FBI friend of Tim's delivering his file to Raylan as a favor the enemies are now gunning for one another. Happy hunting. Also WInona leaving Raylan is really too bad even though she will be in upcoming episodes obviously and him being part of the baby's life it's just hard since they were so good together and Olyphant and Zea share such a natural chemistry and ease to their relationship but she's not wrong that he would've changed by now if he wanted too and she has been gone since season's beginning and only stayed because he got shot and whatnot. But commencement is a good idea and having Raylan go through personal issues is more weight that we happily see him struggle through, and the whole Charlie evidence man taking off with the money instead of Winona was a bit of a curveball I certainly thought that Winona had taken it. Hopefully that will be explored further, if at all.moreless

Not as good as the past two weeks, but this was still a fun episode, down from the sterness of the villain simply shooting in the beginning and not hesitating, to the slow build of this season's arcs. Even if The CW-esque conversation with Natalie Zea and Timothy Olyphant was not bad.

The pace has definitely picked up, but I still think Justified will get even better as the season progresses.moreless

Finally things start happening in Harlan. After meeting the bad guys over several episodes, came the first round of bullets. Though i didn't think they would come from limehouse's corner. As a carnivore i'm on team limehouse, he was awesome putting the lackey back in place. He's all about protecting his town in the bigger picture

Raylan had a lot on his plate this week what with Winona and the money, Arlo and Helen's ghost - hope we'll see where that is going- and Boyd saving gas. I enjoyed the ride immensely.moreless

Good show, great acting. However, aren't we all tired of the Lawman Who Can't Keep His Woman Happy? The cliche doesn't fit Raylan.
