The Kath and Kim TV movie. Kel and Kath have just been on an overseas tour based on the international blockbuster, The Da Vinci Code. They return to Fountain Lakes refreshed and ready to gear up for Christmas Day in just two weeks’ time. But it will be the most harrowing two weeks of their lives. Kath’s admiration for another man causes an outbreak of jealousy in Kel. The result is a shocking incident that could lead to a ruined marriage and possible legal proceedings. Meanwhile Brett and Kim have serious issues. Brett’s recent promotion at Computacity has gone to more than just his head. And who is the new man in Sharon’s life? No one seems to know. Could this lead to Sharon’s dream wedding in Captain Cook’s cottage?moreless

In it; Christmas is coming and Kim and Brett's relationship is once again on the rocks, Kath and Kel are torn apart when Kath becomes infatuated with Michael Bublé and Sharon starts an internet relationship, determined not to spend Christmas alone. This is probably the only time anyone will ever say this but the creators Jane Turner and Gina Riley should've taken a leaf out of South Park creators; Trey Parker and Matt Stone's book that you should release a movie based on a TV show when the show is at its best. They did and the South Park movie was a success, Da Kath and Kim Code was released when the show was creaky and the movie is even more so. The frequent ties with the Da Vinci Code are absurd and unnecessary and the jokes are never laugh out loud, not even when Sharon provides us with her illustrious physical comedy. Good points however are the star – studded cameos from a range of stars like The Wiggles to a subdued Barry Humphries all of which are great apart from a robotic Michael Bublé. Popular recurring characters Prue and Trude who would normally be restricted to hilarious small parts in the series are very prominent in the movie and although their accents and snobbishness are funny for a scene their numerous appearances just add to the movie's general inability to amuse. In conclusion; Da Kath and Kim Code is a disappointing movie adaptation of the hit series although it's not hideous the formula is wearing thin and fresh jokes and ideas are needed fast.moreless

- Barry Humphries A.K.A Dame Edna Everage, who stars in this episode towards the end, has Christmas Dinner with the main cast. His charecter has recently come to Melbourne and when asked what he thought of Australia, he passed comment that upon entering the city and country he felt unnerving but when he saw the global corporations, like shops, and his skepticism and restlessness vanished. Humpries in past interviews such as the South Bank show, has past comment that he thought Australia lacked its individuality and that its global designs and brands of building and companies was causing that (in the conversation IKEA is mentioned). The point of his comment at the dinner table was that as a tourist the highlights of his visit to Australia was the global brands and produdcts, nothing unique to Australia.
