Season four ushers in Kathy and the new year when Kathy co-hosts CNN's New Year's Eve countdown with Anderson Cooper! Nervous about the upcoming gig, Kathy enlists Team Griffin in helping her come up with funny, newsworthy topics to discuss with Mr. Cooper. Unfortunately, the drinking game that Team Griffin plays makes Jessica a little unruly, and she promptly goes home and hurls in the new year.
Kathy's life is a little bit more upbeat, even though she and Maggie are still coping with the loss of Kathy's father; Kathy has won an Emmy for My Life on the D-List and she has a new boyfriend! It's Apple co-founder - not to mention, billionaire - Steve Wozniak. Steve comes over to meet Maggie before escorting Kathy to the Producers Guild Awards. Maggie and Steve, to Kathy's surprise, find it easier to talk about eating healthy than about computers.
Before her big gig presenting at the PGA's, Kathy's producer friend, Mike, comes to visit her and talk her out of saying anything that might put his job on the line. Finally, the PGA day arrives and Kathy makes a few jokes about Oprah that get mixed results from the audience. Mostly, she is irritated for losing her category to Planet Earth, a show that Kathy vehemently rejects. For all her brushes with the A-list, Kathy affirms that at the end of the night, she's always right back to D.
