"Keen Eddie" is the second short-lived cop show I've fallen in love with within a day. The first was USA Network's "Touching Evil", although that is a very dark thriller, while "Keen Eddie" is on an opposite end of the spectrum.
Mark Valley plays Eddie Arlette, a New York cop who is sent to London to get some drugs off the street, since it's his fault the drug dealers got away. He has some interesting misadventures while he's there, and by the end of the pilot he's been offered a job in London, and accepts.
The cast is GREAT in their roles, and the writing is near perfect, and reminds one of other great dramedies such as "Desperate Housewives" and "Wonderfalls". FOX tried to make this show more hip with a cool soundtrack, funky editing, camera angles, and zooms. Add all that with the aforementioned excellent writing and acting, and FOX gets what they wanted: a hip cop show.
Most pilots go through a struggle to set up characters and their stories, but this pilot doesn't. It gets right into the action and grabs your interest right from the start. That alone makes the show worth checking out. You won't regret it if you do.
