Hyacinth is delighted to receive a telephone call from Mrs. Fortescue, an elderly widow of means who requires a lift into town. Naturally, Richard is pressed into service to drive her, with Hyacinth as a more than willing passenger.

Richard is less than keen to drive Mrs. Fortescue anywhere due to her habit of catching people with her lethal walking stick! Of course, Hyacinth ignores his objections and in fact, instructs him on how to ring the doorbell and the correct way to smile when Mrs. Fortescue answers the door.

After finally get the old lady into the car and heading to town, Hyacinth is mortified when they see Rose and Daisy waiting at a bus stop and Richard insists on giving them a lift! As Rose does often, within minutes, she has told Mrs. Fortescue the tragic story of her latest romantic adventures. The old lady is very sympathetic and is more than agreeable when it is suggested that they should go to a local pub for a drink.

Hyacinth, of course, refuses to enter a 'public house', considering such a thing beneath her. She waits in the car, clearly out of sorts while the others enter the establishment. In what could only be called a series of unfortunate events, Hyacinth finds herself stranded on a truck, seen by her unbearable snobbish neighbour, Mrs. Barker-Finch,and finally, defeated, entering the bar of the hotel to find Mrs. Fortescue winning at darts and Onslow offering to buy her a drink! Watch it and see the rest!moreless
