Hyacinth drags Richard off for a day out in the country - On the way, she decides to visit her father. She doesn't get to see him because he has 'escaped' from Daisy and Onslow's house by climbing down a drainpipe dressed as "Captain Midnight"! Apparently, he's gone to save the woman at the Post Office from a "fate worse than death"(Hyacinth?!). Hyacinth and Richard then visit a stately home. Hyacinth insists on hanging around the "family area", hoping to meet the nobility; To her dismay, Onslow, Daisy and Rose turn up, forcing them to make a hasty exit!moreless

Hyacinth wants to have a day out - a visit with Daddy and then a trip to the country to view a stately home - a favourite outing of hers. Richard, of course, is very unenthusiastic but, as we can easily predict, he goes along with her wishes to keep the peace.

Disappointed by her plans to visit Daddy being thwarted by the fact that he has run away from Onslow and Daisy's house in a 'Captain America' outfit, Hyacinth nevertheless decides that a visit to the country and viewing a gorgeous home is just what the doctor ordered.

From the outset,we can see that Richard is bored, after all, they have visited this particular residence several times in the past and Hyacinth always wants to stand in the same place; the roped-off area near where the family live in the hope of running into them and striking up a friendship.

Hyacinth gets quite carried away when she begins talking loudly to Richard about all of the times she has been speaking to Her Ladyship, all of which are grossly exaggerated, naturally! Overall, Hyacinth is having a relatively good time, until, horror of all horrors, Onslow, Daisy and Rose arrive! Naturally, she can't be seen anywhere near such people, family or not! Making a hurried escape into the large garden surrounding the house, Hyacinth is affronted when she and Richard are accosted by the gardener of all people, however, things turn a little bit sour when the 'gardener' turns out to be His Lordship, owner of the house! An episode not to be missed.moreless
