  • It is Xmas time (remember not to use that expression around Hyacinth), and Mrs. Bucket is trying her best to make it memorable - as expected.

This episode was probably a Christmas special, by the feel of it. The ending was a little out of character, but then, if this was a season special, it can be put on that account.

Some surprising stuff, like Richard and Emmett getting drunk together (such a hilarious scene, singing "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer"), several kisses under mistletoe, and Elizabeth showing some leg...

Daddy escapes to the Church hall, Rose's new boyfriend likes to dance, and Hyacinth is desperate to make the record with all the Christmas cards she has received - although according to Richard, not all of them are sent by other people...

    Altogether, a standard episode.moreless
  • It's that time of the year again and Hyacinth is certainly in a very festive mood and expects Richard to be equally jolly - and agree to dress up as Father Christmas!moreless

The festive season has arrived and Hyacinth has already had to find room in the house to display no less than one hundred and twelve cards. Many of them are genuine but she has written quite a few to herself for those people who may have mislaid her address!

Richard in totally unimpressed when he is informed that he is to dress up as Father Christmas and distribute gifts to the old people at the church hall and tries to dissuade Hyacinth, all to no avail. Whilst wearing the suit, he goes to visit Elizabeth and Emmett and gets very, very drunk, meaning that he is unable to drive Hyacinth to the chrurch hall and forcing Elizabeth to don the costume and pretend to be Richard herself. Meanwhile, Richard's boss and his wife, whom Hyacinth wishes to impress (naturally) arrive at the church hall and are rather surprised to see 'Richard' wearing a petticoat under the costume!

As if that isn't enough, Daddy is up to his old tricks and is causing havoc in the church hall and the vicar tells Hyacinth to remove him at once, which she does, dressing him as a cat in a pantomine costume. With Elizabeth dressed as Richard, Daddy dressed as a cat and Rose, Onslow and Daisy turning up, it's only natural that everything will go wrong. Or will it? After all, it IS Christmas!moreless
