Key West

Show Summary

Seamus O'Neill (Fisher Stevens) is an ordinary man, factory worker, who one day hits the big money and becomes rich. To fulfill his biggest dream, being a writer, O'Neill moves to the little town of Key West, where he might get the inspiration for his creativity. Key West rolls the new everyday life of O'Neill, from the very moment of the winning. With him, there are Abednigo "JoJo" Nabuli (T.C. Carson), the weird immigrant, Paul "Gumbo" Beausoleil (Leland Crooke), the owner of the exotic bar (and an alligator), Mayor Chaucy Caldwell (Denise Crosby), the Rebulican, and a lot more stereotypical figures from this little town, that colorize O'Neill's life. Key West has lasted 13 episodes, during January-June 1993, on FOX.

most certainly my favorite show of this era.one day there will hopefully be a venue for shows that are not necessarily the most popular, just good entertaining tv.the makers of serenity should review this program.i find it extremely disappointing this show is unavailable in any format.dvd release requested please.if you don't find dvd release to be what you consider to be a sufficiently profitable venture then(as a public service) then why not just put it out on the internet and see what happens.perhaps it will be a lot more popular than you think,or is that what you are afraid of lets see just where your hearts are we have certainly paid your bills so far haven't we?moreless

After 12 years, I still can't get the shows I watched from that era out of my head. I don't know of any other shows that fit that same qualifier. Except maybe "In Living Color" - but that one is in a bad way. This show has absolutely stood the test of time.
  • A lottery winner decides to live his dream and follow his hero Earnest Hemmingway to Key West to become a writer, only to find that his winnings have vanished.

What an incredible show! When is it coming to DVD so I can rewatch it? The only episode I can remember somewhat clearly is the one about the Key West residents riding out a hurricane and throwing a party. I remember everyone having fun being in a real party mood, then when the hurricane hit, Fisher Stevens' character was in absolute terror. Anyone have any info? Fisher Stevens really shined in this one, as he did in Early Edition. Any other episodes stick out in anyone's head? I just wish it would have lasted another season or two. It was one of those quirky shows that come along every once in a while that a core fan base love, but isn't well received by the "Punky Brewster"esque masses that decide which shows live or die.moreless
  • Would be millioniare Seamus hits the lottery, sells all his possessions and moves to Key West to become a writer only to find the tax man seized all his winnings leaving him bankrupt and trying to make it as a writer.moreless

A unique show which has some on the best episodes in TV history, the show featuring Key West being hit by hurricane Andrew being the best. Unfortunately it got a little weird in the end with people coming back from the Bermuda Triangle and being reunited with family members. I suppose the writers were trying to suggest that Key West was a magical place where anything was possible. It had a unique cast of characters strippers, cowboys, rednecks, gays, straights, artists ,writers and businessmen all who accepted each other and paid no attention to their differences, the common thread being they lived in an area they loved. Underviewed and underappreciated hopefully they will release it on DVD.moreless
