Keys to the Castle is a documentary TV series developed by HGTV that follows host, actor John Barrowman, as he explores what it is like for modern owners of castles. With palatial homes with stones older than most cities, these home owners in Dorset, Suffolk, and two in Scotland as well as four chateaux in France give a personalized tour sharing all the secrets and joys of living in some of the oldest homes in Europe. From unbelievable landscapes of hedge mazes to moats keeping the neighbors from asking for some sugar, these homes offer both pros and cons to living in a flashback to the Middle Ages. John gets a taste of what it is like to have a home with ghosts from the sixteenth century, heating over one hundred rooms in a stone building, and maintaining a very old and very leaky roof.
