  • The reason I call it underappreciated...

Most families in this day have problems. Not one family is perfect. Keyshia Cole's family has gone through its ups and downs. Drugs, prostitution, unplanned pregnancy, adoption....but ultimately they have overcome all of this to try and stay together as a family. I love the show because it doesn't show life from the ideal family; it shows life from the real family with real problems, real struggles, and real achievement. Keyshia is of course a multi-platinum, grammy nominated singer with a voice comparable to the Great Mary J. Blige. She goes through the struggles of incorporating her professional life in with her personal life which is a task in itself. Other cast includes Manny-greatest manager alive, Nefetaria-older sister, Frankie-birth mother, Yvonne Cole-foster mother, along with a host of other family and friends whose names I can't recall. Overall, the show is very entertaining and gives a glance into the life of someone who wasn't born with a silver spoon but used the talent she was born with the achieve great success. She still has a ways to go to get her family on the same page, but she shows great strength and loyalty when dealing with them.moreless
  • I shouldn't love watching this show

but I do. Keyshia is the glue that holds her troubled family together. And she, so far, has done a wonderful job at it. Her strength in the presence of a lot of challenges is inspirational. Her mother is a recovering drug addict and ex-con, and her sister is a single mother of 3 who has a pass in prostitution. They are both VERY rough around the edges and are threatened, in some ways, by Keyshia's adopted family and her career success. The drama on this show never ends, and at times is very raw-but it's great to see how they always come back together as a family unit.moreless
