Show Summary

KidZone is a Canadian television show filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Child actors using their own names comprised the cast, and the show provided a starting point for many young careers. KidZone started out as a sequence of interviews and informative skits in which educational issues, such as anti-smoking or environmental concerns, were presented. The young actors portrayed journalists in each of the skits. Although the show lasted in various formats from 1989 to 2001, one of the recurring sketches, Kerrisdale High, took on a life of its own. The show shifted away from the journalist format to become a docudrama about problems faced by junior high school students. Each episode featured eight main characters and concluded with a moral message. This version of the show became a separate series marketed in the U.S. for one season from 1992-1993. It starred Tony Sampson, Devon Sawa, Jorge Vargas, Chris Hahn, Kea Wong, Jai West, Melissa Barker-Sauer, Maria Dimou and Amber Warnat.
