The producers thought it would be better to keep Bill as his single (pathetic) self rather than have hime in a long-term relationship as was originally planned. Apparently the decision came at the beginning of the 8th season, because Bill mentions things are oing well with Laoma in the next episode, "The Witches of East Arlen" when Bobby reads his future with tarot cards.

Yeah, that storyline was dropped at the snap of a finger. So much for continuity.

I would like to see Laoma return to Arlen and get with Bill. They could still come up with storylines to keep Bill pathetic. For instance, perhaps she will not marry Bill because of her religion. In Bill's mind, he cannot compete with the wealthy men Laoma meets while cleaning houses or going to the country club with Kahn.

OR, they could let the two get married but this still doesn't improve Bill's self-esteem.

Better yet, bring back Reverend Shoup to create some love-triangle tension.

Hey! Right! I forgot about her! OK, how's this? Laoma returns to town with a broken heart . . . again . . . and she and Bill take up where they left off. However, it seems that every time they go somewhere, say out to eat, here comes Lenore! What about letting Lenore date Boomhauer, and every time Laoma is at Bill's, Lenore is at Boomhauer's.

Hey, KOTH writers, we won't sue if you use these storylines.
