In the final scene of the finale, they showed boomhaur dropping his wallet and inside his wallet was a badge of some sort. Does anyone know what that badge was or did anyone get a better look at it.

Yes. I stopped watching the show years ago, and didn't keep up, so I have NO idea what the implication of this is:

On the left was his driver's license, which also stated "Texas Dept. of Public Safety".

On the right was a badge: TEXAS RANGER

Boomhauer is a Texas Ranger?! OK -- what did I miss all these years?!

I don't think you missed anything. As far as I know, there was never one single indication that Boomhauer even had a job, let alone that he was a ranger. To me, it feels like they just threw that in at the last minute to get an OMG reaction from the audience.

Nope, you didn't miss much. Boomhauer was always a mystery on the show, and while the show winded down I guess the writers wanted to end the mystery behind him. We never knew what Boomhauer's first name was til the episode "Uh, Oh, Canda" where we learn his first name is Jeff. Then in the series finale we also learn he's a Texas Ranger, though there has been much discussion over this since...

    1. Boomhauer's badge looks nothing like an actual Texas Ranger Badge

    2. In the episde "High Anxiety (Part 2)" there is a Texas Ranger that investigates Debbie's muder instead of Boomhauer himself. Though it could be possible Boomhauer applied to become a Texas Ranger after this episode, due to it airing in 2000.

Overall I'm very sad to see this series end. I grew up watching this show and now it's over, hopefully one day we'll see another animated series like it.

I read elsewhere on line that the orginal backstory for Boomhauer was that he was on disability from the Texas Rangers, probably due to being injured in the line of duty, and that is why he never appaeared to have a job, nor felt the need to work.

    Works for me.

If that's true what would his injury have been?

if it wasnt for the fact i saw this for a while... i would say he got hit in the back of his head which made his speech slurred...

but odds are he didn't investigated hank because he was to close to him.. They are friends.... anything he find would be seem shady...

a cop seems to fit with him... Beside hank he is the one everyone goes for advices.. He never home and he is rarely seen... while on the job.. Which means he can go under cover or out of the area during that time...

I was thinking about this; in the holiday shopping episode they had the mower focus group and when Boomhower introudced himeself he said that he was on disability but not much more than that. Is it possible that Boomhower is an undercover detective or something and that is why we never really heard about this?
