I don't remember him saying that, but its probably because California is incredibly liberal.

A state that banned same-sex marriage twice over is liberal?

Hank doesn't like a lot of states. He doesn't like Oklahoma either. He only likes Texas.

He also doesn't like visiting other countries (according to his comments in "Returning Japanese").

Most Texans hate Oklahoma. It's like an inferior, diet soda version of their home state.

Most Texans are. After all, Texas used to be its own country.

Despite some really dumb voting choices (especially for an overrated excuse of an actor to be govenor), it's still pretty liberal.

And Hank tends to be a bit more ignorant since season 7; he was sane and fairly conservative early on, but back then he might be able to let his mind be opened by the right turn of events (though he'd never be Mr. VanDressen, of course)

Actually, about the main topic, Hank wouldn't like Europe, either; not even more conservative places, or ones with a strong Christian influence (imagine him in Catholic Ireland or Italy). And being sent to Seattle would cause his insides to go into self-destruct mode.

too true, Texans have a high horse and they know how to stay on. I'm a sixth generation, I outta know old Texans are pretty closed minded.
