Episode Summary

EDIT

When Bobby's runny nose and constant sneezing turn out to be an allergy to dander, he is given some medication, and Hank is told to get rid of Ladybird. Hank is taken aback, trying to find any way around it, so he builds a luxurious new doghouse. During the 'Grand Opening' of the house, Ladybird refuses to go in. Hank rethinks his options, and sends Bobby out to live in the house. Soon Bobby discovers that he has found the right combination of pills to be able to be around Ladybird, but enjoys living in the dog house so much, he doesn't tell his parents.

  • Gee, Hank really does love his dog more than his family!

Still, despite it's flaws, this is a pretty entertaining episode.

This is the 100th episode of KOTH. This means this episode needs to be judged in two ways. A) is the episode on its own good? and B) is this a good episode for such a special occasion? To answer the first question, yes. It's a pretty decent episode, with a good plot, and some funny moments. To answer the second, not really. There was nothing special about it, and maybe that is because despite it being the 100th, it was not advertised as such. Why it wasn't, I don't know. My rating will be based on overall feeling, not just whether it was a special 100th episode. So, taking everything into consideration it was a pretty good episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (9)

    • The dog house is never seen or mentioned again in the series.

    • Tagline: "We all came to see the opening of a doghouse." -Dale

    • After going through puberty, the animators draw Joseph with a blue shirt and brown shorts. This is the first episode (there are several others) in post-puberty era, where Joseph wears his old green shirt and white shorts.

    • When Bobby is being called for dinner Hank goes and stands in front of the TV and it is clearly off, even though Bobby was flipping channels.

    • Bobby discovers that to keep his allergies in line he needs to take 2 yellow ones and half of the red one. Earlier in the episode all his pills were white.

    • When we see Bobby talking to Hank about the allergy test there are lots of black marks (dots for the allergy test) on Bobby's back and one red circle around one of them. As Hank is looking at them there is a shot from behind Bobby and the red circle has gone.

    • When Peggy says that Bobby could have invited her and Hank to the dog house, Hank says that they wouldn't have been able to fit in the door, but he went in and out of it earlier while fixing up the doghouse. At the end of the episode, Peggy is inside the doghouse with a student she is tutoring.

    • After the frantic phone call from the hospital, Hank rushes to the emergency room. In the hallway there are two doors, the one to his left says "Consultation" whilst the one to his right says "Examination". He uses his left hand to open the door and in the next shot you can see the door now says "Examination" and "Consultation" on the opposite door.

    • In "Hank's Dirty Laundry" the Hill's address was shown to be 320 Rainey Street. However, in this episode, when Peggy is looking at the mail, all of their mail has 84 Rainey Street as their address. This is the first of many inconsistencies with the Hill address.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Hank: (seeing several pin pricks on Bobby's back) Aha, they're testing you for allergies, you sure you still want that Merlin tattoo?

    • Peggy: Look, if you want a dog inside the house, it says right here that there are several hypoallergenic breeds of dog, such as poodles or hairless.
Hank: A poodle? Why not just go all the way and get me a cat and a sex-change operation?

    • Dale: Push her in! We all came to see the opening of a doghouse!

    • Hank: Although we move you into Barkingham Palace today, we will always leave a doggie-door open into our hearts.

    • Connie: I stole a bottle of Chianti from my dad. I poured out the wine so we can put a candle in it.
