  • Dang 'Ol Wedding Man!

    7.0
I do agree that this is at best an OK episode, and pretty sad for a premiere. That being said, it's not as bad as the other reviewers have said. It had a lot more laughs than some other episodes, and the plot was pretty decent. It was nice to see Boomhauer as more than just a player, but also nice that they didn't forget that he was, and made mention of it. The bachelor party flashback was very funny, especially Dale's part. I loved Strickland in the back with the hookers as Hank is talking about how he cares about marriage. It was a bit boring at times, but I was laughing through enough of it, that I can say it was a pretty good episode overall.moreless

boomhauer's brother, patch, visits and reveals he is marrying one of boomhauer's old girlfriends. boomhauer is mad and when this fight gets worse, he drops his role as best man and hank takes over.

a really boring episode. when this is on i rarely finish it. i've seen the whole thing like once. it bores me and i do not find any of it funny or interesting. honestly, one of my least favorite episodes of the series. not really good in any places, and so because of all this, this might be one of the few episodes i give an F too. Maybe D+ if I am feeling generousmoreless
  • Boring episode.

    6.0
Right from the start I knew this would be a boring episode. Whenever Boomhauer is the focus, it will be a drag. He is an okay character, but he is just so hard to understand. Pair that with his brother, who is equally as hard to understand, and you have yourself a bad mix. I did like the comedy in this one. It was pretty funny and it had some funny bits here and there. But the thing that made this show average was the fact that half of the dialogue was directed at Boomhauer and Patch. Overall, just average. Thank you.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Tagline: (Laughs) "Oh, Patch!" -Dale

    • With this episode, every main character (Hank, Peggy, Bobby, Luanne, Bill, Boomhauer, Dale) has had an episode with their name somewhere in the title.

    • In the episode "Dang 'Ol Love" they made it seem as if Boomhauer had never been in love before then, but in this episode it appears that he had been in love with Katherine.

    • Anytime one of the guys got married, during the bachelor party, the bachelor would have a ball and chain attached to them and someone would ask for them to get a beer and when they got up and started dragging it everyone laughed.

    • According to the flashback, Bill got married first, then Hank and then Dale.

    • In the first shot of the rehearsal dinner, Hank's wine glass is full; however, in the next shot and for the rest of the scene, the glass is empty, despite Hank not drinking from it.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Bill: What are Patch and Katherine serving at their wedding? I need to know what color tux to wear, stain-wise.

    • Kahn: You must settle this like men. Angry redneck men. Blunderbuss at twenty paces!

    • Hank: I really thought Boomhauer had come along - I mean, he brought beer! But then, the prostitutes....
Dale: Maybe you can work that into your speech at the rehearsal dinner. You know, in a funny way!

    • Boomhauer: I still remember the day Katherine left for London - Boomhauer stayed in his hot tub for two straight days. I have never seen a man look so unhappy yet so relaxed!

    • Boomhauer: (running into his old girlfriend) Ahhh, dang ol' smile, you remember our ol' braces gettin' all hooked like that? Talkin' bout no pain no gain!

    • Dale: Don't worry, Boomhauer, Patch may have beat you to the altar, but you'll beat him to the grave. As a bachelor, your life expectancy is seven years shorter than us blissfully marrieds. Even Bill gets a couple of years' credit for that charade of a marriage of his.

    • Dale: It's like if the Russians landed on the moon after we did, and then married it!

  • NOTES (1)

    • The song in the flashback and at the bachelor party is "The Joker" by The Steve Miller Band. The song that Craig T. plays at the party is "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • The episode title and the character Patch is a likely allusion to the former Days of our Lives soap character Steve "Patch" Johnson who once had a similar storyline with his old buddy Bo Brady who loved the same woman from their past.
