  • Laaaaaaaaaaadybird, Saves the Day!

    9.5
Another great KOTH episode, and Season 4 picks up steam. This episode has classic scenes and lines and is a must watch for anyone who wants to be called a KOTH fan. It has a great plot line, albeit a bit far fetched in some areas, but everything works well together and all the characters have some really funny moments. One of my all time favourite episodes!
  • In this very touching episode, we see an emotional side to Hank that we've never seen before...

    8.5
In this episode, Bobby finds a racoon hanging around his house, whom he names Bandit and keeps as a pet. The bandit causes havoc in the Hill house, and Hank calls upon Dale to exterminate it. To protect her "master", Hank's bloodhound Ladybird leaps to the rescue to take care of the racoon, but disappears, along with bandit.

As Hank desperately searches for his beloved bloodhound, he secretly breaks down in the garage. An emotional side to Hank we've never seen before. I can tell that he loves his wife and son, but he's always too embarrassed to show it. However he's not afraid to show his love for his dog because his dog has never judged him, or doubted him.

In pursuit of Bandit and Ladybird, Dale goes nuts and fends for himself in the woods. All in all, a solid episode with some very revealing moments.moreless
  • Bobby adopts a racoon and names it Bandit. It bites Ladybird and scratched Dale. All three run off. Hank is afraid Ladybird could have rabies.

    9.6
Bobby is sick of Ladybird because he thinks she is too old and she only listens to Hank. Bobby adopts a racoon and names it Bandit. When a storm comes, Bobby lets it go in Hank's workshed. Hank sees it and hires Dale to get ride of it. Bandit scratches Dale and bites Ladybird (who defends Hank.) Ladybird, Dale, and Bandit run off. Bobby looks for Bandit and Hank looks for Ladybird. Hank is then afraid Ladybird could have rabies. Hank, Bobby, Bill, and Boomhower go into the woods to search for Ladybird. Hank and Bobby seperate from Bill and Boomhower. Dale is in the woods and going crazy. He captures Hank and Bobby. He wants to switch his "rabied" blood with Hank's clean blood. But, Dale is still stupid and gives Hank his pocket knife. Hank almost sets Bobby free, when Dale stops him. Ladybird comes, and chases Dale up a tree. Bobby gets free and frees Hank. Hank calls Ladybird, and Bobby points a gun at Ladybird, thinking she has rabies. He fires the gun, and misses Ladybird. He said he didn't miss, and shows Hank how he shot Bandit, who was about to bite Hank. Hank and Bobby give Bandit a proper funeral.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (7)

    • During the scene in which Bobby shares his Hungry Man dinner with the raccoon, the food in the left of the tray is a white color. As the shot shows the raccoon eating, it's bright yellow.

    • When Bobby and Hank are in the pet store looking around, there are some red & white bags of dog food. Hank then asks the store clerk how much it costs to put a photo of Ladybird on a mug, and the color of the bags has changed. One of the bags is orange and white, whilst another is yellow and white.

    • As Bill goes to get another beer from the cooler box, he raises the door and a raccoon pops out. The only problem is there is no conceivable way it could have got in without one of them noticing or shutting the door on the cooler. They would have had to close the cooler before bringing it out and the of the raccoon would have been hard to fit in the box along with the beer without someone noticing. Even if the raccoon had sneaked in the box before or after they brought the cooler out without anyone looking, the raccoon wouldn't have been able to get in and put the door back on.

    • We learn Dale's phone number is 555-0156 and Hank's is 555-0197.

    • It shows Hank turning a bunch of things on to hide his crying, but all the sounds stop at once as suppose to one by one.

    • Tagline: "So long, suckers!" -Dale

    • Bobby says "She has rabies she'll bite you" referring to Bandit, however throughout the rest of the episode, including after this, he refers to Bandit as a boy. Obviously this was a tactic by the writers to make it seem as if he meant Ladybird, but it would have been easier to make Bandit a girl.

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Hank: We'll need a volunteer to stay with Nancy, in case Dale shows up.
John Redcorn: (raises his hand, then Bill raises his hand. He glares at Bill angrily) My hand was up first. (continues to glare until Bill puts his hand down.)

    • Dale: (Under the influence of mushrooms, Dale is recording his outdoor experience, his shelter collapses) Reminder: Buy a hammer and nails. (notices there are no batteries in his recorder) ...and batteries. (hurls his tape recorder. Speaks into a pinecone) ...and a new tape recorder.

    • Dale (While on top of a tree branch): So long, suckers! (Starts flapping his arms and makes bird noises until he jumps off and falls to the ground) Hank, I can see your house from here.

    • Nancy: The earliest symptoms of rabies include chills . . .
Dale: I'm cold, Nancy, soooo COLD!
Nancy: You're in your underwear, Sug.

    • Dale: (reassuring Hank) I'll find LadyBird. Lucky for you, I'm not only an exterminator, I am also a bounty hunter, here's my OTHER card. Give it to me, and save 10%.

    • Hank: (Holding her bloody collar) Oh My GOD!! LadyBird is hurt...Somebody call 9-1-1!

    • Hank: LadyBird is a member of this family. You've seen our Christmas card.
Bobby: I've also seen her drink outta the toilet, wipe herself across the carpet, scratch herself, and sniff another dog's butt.

    • Bobby: (Opening trash bag for raccoon) Now, let's see what's in Santa's bag? What a CRIME! If you are not a hungry man, Luanne, you should not be taking on a Hungry Man Dinner.

    • Bobby: Has anyone smelled today's trash yet? It's nice.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Dale mentions that he is a licensed bounty hunter. He became one back in Season 3's Pregnant Paws. This is the final mention of it in the series.

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Hungry Man: It is a TV dinner company

    • Young Frankenstein
When Dale asks Hank to cover up the hole after enters, and asks that he not remove it no matter what, then instantly pleads with him to remove literally moments afterward is a possible reference to a similar scene in the movie Young Frankenstein.

    • This episode's title is a similar to the title of the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
