This was a great episode! I am surprised and upset that NBC did not at least allow it to run all the way through. I mean I saw 24 and when that ended it kinda left is weird taste in my mouth. This show obviously still has some time to kill. I was definately surprised that Silas was still alive, but I was also surprised that his nephew sold out his own dad. I was really surprised by the mom and her lying to her husband about her daughter's alleged treasonous actions. Wow! What people will do in order to protect their family (even unborn). I think that was clever. Although it made sense for Silas to force his son to produce an heir, it was nonetheless still a surprise. And I am amazed that Jack's "girlfriend" is so naive in the midst of such a bloody family, not to realize that she is being used. I was also really surprised that Rev. Samuels pray was technically not answered. Who would have thought that he would have been shot only to come back as a ghost and nobody realize it! Wow! I love how he was talking to Silas and during the whole conversation Silas had no idea that Rev. Samuels was dead! That was cool. All in all I would rate this series a 9.5 for the amazing plot twists. It really is a pity that the show was canceled. I can see that it would at least have promise to last an entire season, maybe even two. Well, here's to hope...moreless

    • Jack: She had no part in this. Thomasina: Her part she'll be glad to play. Your father wants for you a living death. To brick you into a wall with someone who loves you who you can't stand the sight of, until you produce an heir, which Silas will take and raise right this time. (Lucinda runs into Jack's arms) Lucinda: I don't understand. Jack: Thomasina, love. Please. You've known me since I could crawl. Thomasina: You went against the family. You're not charming anymore, Jack. Jack: Don't do this. Thomasina: It's not so hard. Just close your eyes and dream of someone who's dead. Edit
    • Silas: Not bad right? Even you must be impressed today. You're welcome. I give and I am thankful for giving is a need. We understand eachother on that point. It was a mad idea you had in the first place. Kings, a monarchy in this day and age? I'm looking out on the city that I built in your name. This is what you wanted. Deny it? Then you can forgive me. Then I still have some role yet to play. (It begins to rain) Oh thank you! Thank you! Whatever you want, I am ready! (thunder) Him? But why? No! No, what about me!? What am I supposed to do?! Don't go! Don't go! (Silas returns inside) Thomasina: Sir? Silas: Find Shepherd. Bring him to the mansion. Tell him I listened. Edit
    • Rev. Samuels: God does not take council with sinners. Recently you and I--we've been made unforgivable. Jack: We both knew my father had to go. Rev. Samuels: And all the others? All the innocents shot. Dead. The declaration of war. Jack: That's William. Rev. Samuels: We allowed it. Silas was right. I cannot accuse him and let myself go unscrutinized. Jack: I can make good of our mistakes. Once you put the crown on my head you will see how good it fits. Rev. Samuels: The crown will never touch your head. That is the hollowness that you feel and you know it. He knows it. And he will never speak to you. Jack: Why not? Rev. Samuels: You are not the one he wants. Edit
