Kitchen Nightmares

Season 1 Episode 10

Secret Garden

Aired Friday 8:00 PM Dec 12, 2007 on FOX

  • Trivia

    • Editing Error: During the scene in which Gordon Ramsay returns the dirty glass, it goes from empty, to full of water, then back to empty when he hands the glass over.

    • At one point, Jane stated "Now that I'm the manager, I am the bitch of the place," however, close captioning read (bleep) of the place.

  • Quotes

    • Gordon: Raw carrot. Fine if you're a (bleep)ing rabbit.

    • Michel: I'm like, so wrong.
Gordon: Are you just saying that?
Michel: No, no, I mean it.

    • Gordon: I've got to get some air before I do something I'll really regret.

    • Michel: Your menu is not better than mine.
      Gordon: You're a donkey.

    • Michel: (in an interview segment) If Gordon gets in my way -- (in the kitchen) give me the knife, I'll take care of it --- (return to interview segment) I promise I'll make him suffer.

    • Gordon: We've got some customers in under the age of 50. It's exciting.

    • Michel: (in an interview segment) I like to go to the customers because it's great for my ego.

    • Narrator: Now that the kitchen is up to Gordon's standards, it's time for him to check out a dinner service. Well, maybe not a full dinner service.

    • Gordon: Every time I say something to you, you just smile at me. When are you going to get serious with me, Michel?

    • Devon: Honestly, I've never seen anyone talk to Michel in the way Ramsay talked to him.

    • Chef Ramsay: Don't take this personally.
      Chef Bardavid: Yes
Chef Ramsay: I thought your food was crap. Tasteless, bizarre... your food was long winded, boring, and just, you know, badly done.

    • According to previous health-inspection records, Secret Garden has encountered problems, some of which were highlighted on the episode such as "unsanitary conditions" with the facilities and equipment.

    • Chef Michel Bardavid was born, raised, and professionally trained in Lyon, France. Bardavid has previously worked at Checkers, Fenix at the Argyle Hotel, and famed The French Laundry which is owned and operated by Thomas Keller, who is one of only two chefs in the world with two three-Michelin star restaurants (an accomplishment Ramsay doesn't own as of the airing of this episode).
