When Michael undergoes the ritual of having knives thrown around his head, the knives actually poke through the wood board from behind him.
The shot of Elliott and Annie's hands tied show Allie to have long, painted nails, but when she touches Elliott as they escape, she appears to have shortly cut nails.
When Elliott and Allie pull over following their escape to tell Michael what they learned, they stop under the full sunlight of a midday sun, but when the camera changes angles, they're suddenly under long shadows from brush to their right.
When KITT pulls into a parking space in preparation to reverse and pin Vanessa and an accomplice, he projects a shadow to the left. Following a reaction shot, KITT then reverses, but the shadow is now on the right and the cars around him are different.
Michael: Hey, KITT, you got a little buddy over here. KITT, meet KNERD.
(KNERD's scanner hums)
KITT: KNERD?
Elliott: When you got it, flaunt it.
KITT: Good grief.
Elliott: (after destroying a tea set) Precise tea-steaming time is broken down into minute fractions.
Michael: Just like the teapot.
Devon: Have you ever heard of sei-jo?
Michael: Sei-jo? Sounds like something from a sushi bar.
Devon: (after Elliott melted his trophy) My cricket trophy! We won the cricket championship that year. I've had this for decades.
Elliott: Gee, what decade was that?
Devon: Nevermind.
KITT: Michael, there's one thing about Elliott I don't understand.
Michael: What's that?
KITT: Assuming one wouldn't prefer being called a nerd, why does he act like one?
Michael: I don't think he's acting.
Mac: [Michael] could be trouble.
Vanessa: Wrong tense, Mac. He is trouble.
Music: Bryan Adams' "Run To You" (cover version)
The German episode title is "Elliott, der Schlaukopf", meaning "Clever Elliot". The French episode title is "Le Cristal noir", and the Czech episode title is "Černý krystal", both meaning "Black Crystal".
This is the first of Victoria Bass' two, unrelated appearances on Knight Rider. She can also be seen in season four's "Knight Behind Bars."
Elliott claims he's ready to help in "rain or shine, sleet or snow," similar to the motto of the United States Postal Service.
Buck Rogers:
Mac referred to the Thermal Laser as a "Buck Rogers gizmo," in reference to the short-lived NBC sci-fi series "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" from 1979-1981.
