    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (5)

      • Early in the episode, KITT displays a map indicating the Right-On Ranch is near an intersection with lots of houses on one corner, though there are never houses in view and the map does not match the one Michael finds in the safe at the Shaggy Buffalo later in the episode.

      • After the sheriff makes his statement about handling Michael, he then shoots a can with his pistol, but before the second shot hits the can, there is a noticeable skip in the video and the ground scenery shifts down suddenly.

      • When KITT helps force the sheriff off the bucking bronco after 19 seconds, the close-up of the clock reads 7 seconds.

      • When going to save the kids on the disabled bus, Michael has KITT open the roof, but he selects Eject Left, which should also operate the ejector function, instead of Auto Roof L.

      • Michael puts KITT into Ski Mode during the climactic showdown on a road next to a sharp drop-off, but the close-up of KITT's front end shows a flat landscape with utility poles in the background, though no such poles appear in long shots.

    • QUOTES (10)

      • Magic: Man, you just knocked my socks off!
KITT: Yes, well, put them back on, it gets cold here at night!

      • Rebecca: If you haven't guessed already, Michael, my real occupation isn't ranching. I'm a child psychologist.
Michael: I kinda got that feeling.
Rebecca: By the way I handle the kids?
Michael: No, by the way you tried to milk that cow, which turned out to be a bull.

      • Michael: KITT, I think this place needs a new disk jockey. Put on something that I can dance to.
        KITT: How about Swan Lake?

      • Michael: My name's Michael Knight. I'm from the Foundation.
Rebecca: Where are all the others?

      • Michael: Well, I think it's time we sashayed down to the old homestead, partner.
KITT: I think I liked you better when you spoke rock 'n' roll.

      • KITT: Map overlay indicates Old Canyon Road.
Michael: Does the map overlay indicate where it goes?
KITT: No, but were I to hazard a guess, I'd say an old canyon.

      • Sheriff: (on Michael) If that long drink of water gives you any trouble at all, you just let me handle him.

      • Michael: (into communicator) One more time, please.
KITT: Michael, if you're not careful, they will be doing the Texas Two-step on your head.
Michael: (growling) Just put on some rock and roll, will ya?

      • Devon: Well, Michael, I won't keep you. Oh, just remember, "children are the flowers of mankind!"

      • Michael: Well, looks like the hoosegow's over there.
KITT: Hoosegow? Is that something like moo cow?

    • NOTES (2)

      • The German episode title is prefixed with "Viehdiebe", meaning "Cattle Thieves". The French episode title is "Les Bâtards", meaning "The Mongrels".

      • Music: The Pointer Sister's "I'm So Excited"; Huey Lewis and the News' "The Heart of Rock 'N Roll" Both are cover versions.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • When Michael jumped into KITT and hollered "Hi-ho, KITT, away!" it is an homage to The Lone Ranger, whose trademark saying was "Hi-ho, Silver, away!"
