When Saori throws her jewelry into the ocean, she refers to an old Greek wedding tradition. The bride casts her jewelry into the sea, and this gesture means that a new ring, or necklace can be bought, but a new bride can't be bought. In a direct reference to the episode, the Gold Cloth is precious, but the Bronze Saints' lives are much more precious. That was what Saori wanted to tell them when she threw her stuff at the sea.
