This episode is considered to be one of Donna Mills' favorite episodes that dealt with Olivia's drug problem. In a way, this episode is somewhat like the movie The Miracle Worker, but the miracle that breaks through in Olivia comes from when Brian gets beaten up by the dealer and she gives Abby all of her drugs, placing her on the road to drug-free awareness.
The episode title is an allusion to The Miracle Worker, a play by William Gibson based upon Helen Keller's autobiography, The Story of My Life, which was originally produced as a television play, moved to Broadway, and was later adapted into a feature film in 1962.
