Kolchak begins by investigating the murder of a cab driver who had his head cut off by someone on a motorcycle with superhuman strength using a sword. The cab dispatcher is put in a mental ward because he claimed that the rider had no head. Kolchak learns that the motorcycle the killer was riding was a Beezer from the 50's. Apparently the rider, Harold Baker, was killed by a rival bike gang in 1956 and is seeking revenge on the ones who were responsible for his death. The cemetery Baker was buried at was sold to a developer to build condos and while the bodies were being moved, Baker's head fell out of his coffin. Kolchak also has to deal with Captain Jonas, the youngest captain on the police force and one who has it in for Kolchak. Kolchak learns from a historian that during the French Reign of Terror, when many people were beheaded, many headless corpses that had lost their heads roamed around seeking revenge on those who had wronged them until the heads were reunited with the bodies. Meanwhile, Vincenzo is back from the hospital after having an ulcer. Apparently, all the stress from working at INS, most of it probably from Kolchak, is the cause of his ailment.moreless

    • Kolchak: There is an old, simple axiom about the dead: don't disturb them, not for any reason at all.

    • Jonas: And you're telling me that I should go into a barn of bones…and…and…and…find someone's skull and then play pin the head on the stump?!? Kolchak: Right, right. Jonas: Is that what you think police do? Kolchak: I've given up figuring out what police do. All I know is what has to be done!

    • Kolchak: (when Baker's head is lost) In one case the oversight was very small. But it blossomed into a flower of evil.

    • Kolchak: (opening monologue) The teenage years: sixteen candles, fervent passions, aimless joyrides and the forbidden taste of beer. A time the world allows for sowing one's wild oats. But for some individuals I came to know in this summer of their discontent it had been a time when they had sown the seeds of their own destruction.

    • Neil: (to Kolchak) Well, if it isn't the third runner-up in the Spike Jones lookalike contest.

    • Jonas: Fortunately for all of us, Kolchak, you're your own worse enemy.

    • Jonas: Surely some biker has taken it into his head to avenge Baker's death. And he has a costume -! Kolchak: That is no costume and he certainly hasn't taken it into his head because there IS no head!

    • Kolchak: And you're supposed to be the brightest, the youngest, captain on the force, huh? Well, you're not fit to be captain of the Rockettes!

    • Vincenzo: Boy, you people got a lot of gall, let me tell you. You sit around here collecting your salaries and gassing about guillotines and corpses on motor scooters and stuffing your faces. Kolchak: Aha. Vincenzo: This isn't a functioning newsroom. This is occupational therapy!
