Carl Kolchak is excited because the World Series has arrived, the Cubs are in it for the first time in years, and he has a ticket. But, news of numerous animal deaths at the zoo draws his attention away from the game. On his way to the zoo, news of a break-in at RayDyne Electronics interrupts that. A wall explodes and throws cops everywhere and stacks of lead ingots disappear into thin air. Kolchak acknowledges it but the police chief dosen't. I guess people refuse to believe what their mind won't grasp. At the zoo, Kolchak learns that the animals all died from heart attacks. There is also some kind of black gooey substance near one of them: compromised of acetone, hydrochloric acid and bone marrow. After investigation, Kolchak learns that electronic equiptment has been going missing in the city and people have been dying because of their bone marrow being sucked out of them. Plus, government "big brother" types have been seen investigating this phenomena and stopping Kolchak from getting the story. When Vincenzo lets slip that there's a UFO involved, Kolchak dosen't stop investigating. Was there any doubt? At the observatory, Kolchak finds the alien lifeform looking at star maps and then finds it's spaceship. This episode is Kolchak's first real entanglement with the one of the "special units" of the US government. This shows how our government keeps odd occurrences like these away from the public view.
