Krypto and Ignatius already seem to know each other, even though this is the first time they are seen interacting.
When the caterpillar pupates, they all call it a "cocoon." However, the caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Butterfly caterpillars DO NOT become cocoons when they pupate, only moth caterpillars do that. The right term for a pupating butterfly caterpillar is a chrysalis.
Continuity: Streaks already has powers in this episode. Streaky, however, gains his powers in the episode "The Streaky Story" which was shown after this episode was broadcast.
Krypto: Hold on, you don't have your wings yet!
Caterpiller: (Gasps) Neither do you!
Krypto: Yeah, well... I'm kind of a special case.
Krypto: Streaky, is it me or does every stop on your list involve food?
This is the first time Krypto has appeared in an episode without his owner: Kevin Whitney.
Villain(s): Ignatious
This episode is the first appearance of Ignatius, who is Krypto's second most recurring series foe.
This episode illustrates for the first time that Krypto pretty much only keeps his identity secret from HUMANS, because the caterpillar he was helping specifically referred to him as "Krypto" even when he was in action as Superdog (the first of several animals other than Streaky to do so in the series).
Scientist: Test subjects... um, no longer explode.
The concept of using apples as test subjects and that the early test subjects explode is a possible nod toward the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids movie.
Episode Title: "A Bug's Strife"
This is an obivous spoof of the Pixar film A Bug's Life.
