Whew! That was quite an action-packed conclusion. I applaud the imagination that went into your story, Comickook. Excellent work.

Thanks, catfan1. I'm glad you liked it. I have to admit it took a lot of thought for me to get that all down. I'll be honest with you, I'm mentally exhausted.

End of the Solar System Part I
    (Warning: Very powerful story)

Krypto has had a busy day with the Dog Stars; 13 missions in just two days! After all of the missions, Krypto comes home really tired and collapses on the floor, exhausted from all of it. Kevin comes in and asks why Krypto is really tired, and explained that the missions weren't easy. Kevin would like to make it up by playing a game with Krypto, but again, Krypto is so tired so Kevin and Krypto agree that tommorrow they will play Fetch & Throw. The Dog Stars signal him yet again in the middle of the night and explains to the Dog Stars that he needs some time off for at least 24 hours. They agree and call the Justice League of Animals for help.

The next day, Kevin's Mom & Dad watches the news and sees that Superman has tested a project at Star Labs about a Kryptonia Defense Suit that will make Superman (and coincidentally, Superdog and Supercat) immune to any Rocks & Minerals' effects, like Kryptonite's and Magnet's. Also, it deflects explosions against them. They tell Kevin about it, who tells Krypto about it and he is excited. However, it is a sort of suit he has to wear in order for it to work. Krypto changes to Superdog in the backyard and flies off to Star Labs to talk to Superman.

When Krypto gets to Superman, he explains that he was waiting for Krypto to show up to help him test it out. Krypto was not expecting this but agreed anyway and tested it out. A Star Labs worker gets a piece of kryptonite and for a few seconds... nothing happens. They try Red Kryptonite, which does have an effect on them. At first nothing happens (in which they say they have succeeded) but later, when they try changing back to Clark Kent/Krypto, it doesn't work. They only programmed the suit to withstand regular Kryptonite.

Krypto flies home and explains to Kevin that until the Red Kryptonite wears off (the Superman costume [for Superman] and Superdog's symbol and cape seemed like they were glued), he's stuck as Superdog. That wasn't really a [nessecarily] bad effect but still, what is Krypto going to do?

Just then, Dark runs into the backyard and something pushed him to go to Krypto's backyard. Krypto explains that it's not a good time to come, but then Kevin starts glowing black. It starts heading into the direction of Dark and Dark is consumed with Darkness. He starts to grow into the shape of Dark Krypto, and explains he's back and better than ever. Krypto asks how he did that, and Dark Krypto explains that before Snooky put him back into the Red Kryptonite, he transferred a piece of himself into Kevin and waited until a reincarnation of him was completed. He also explained that he was invincible, and that even if he died that he would keep coming back, more Dark than ever. This spells an "Uh-oh!" for Krypto and Kevin. Dark Krypto starts to fly off and do something. Krypto chases and Dark Krypto explains that Krypto will never catch him, and defeats Krypto in less than two seconds.

Dark Krypto confronts Star Labs and steals a few chemicals that increase atomic energy and he flies up to the Sun to throw the chemicals toward the Sun; Krypto tries to catch up but can't breathe without his Dog Star Air Helmet. (Apparently, Dark Krypto doesn't breathe.) Dark Krypto flies back down to Earth. Krypto asks what Dark Krypto just did, and Dark Krypto explains he just increased the sun's energy enough to destroy the whole solar system, and that he doesn't care for anybody anymore, and looks forward to causing more devastation on other solar systems. Dark Krypto flies away somewhere else, claiming he has "unfinished business".

Krypto, himself, flies over to Star Labs to retrieve the Kryptonia Defense Suit that deflects Kryptonian Minerals and shields from explosions, gets it on just in time, grabs the one made for Superman and tries to get over to Kevin. It is 143ºF and rising on Earth because the Sun's energy is increasing. He is halfway to Kevin's house when the Sun explodes, leaving a devastating blow... killing everybody on Earth & in the Solar System.

    To be continued
(In the next part, we see the end for Dark Krypto and the Solar System restored)

Yeah, I've got to agree with Mammal_Mage on that point. Aside from that nitpick, though, as you said, this was some considerably powerful stuff.

Sorry, left out that detail. (Honestly, I'm not a very good story writer) Apparently their costumes were stuck to them, and neither Superman or Krypto were able to change back.

End of the Solar System Part II
    (The less-powerful ending)

With Krypto nowhere to go, he takes off the suit and tries to find the Dog Stars. Without his rocket ship, he can't communicate to any of the ships, including the JLA and Dog Stars. He drifts off into the very dark space, with no oxygen Krypto isn't dead but he's now unconscious, until the Dog Stars track his coordinates and beam him up. Krypto is beat up badly. After a few hours of sleeping, Krypto wakes up to the Dog Stars surrounding him. They explained that one of their sensors indicated a Solar System was gone. Krypto agreed, and remarked that it was too late to save them.

However, right before Earth exploded, the Dog Stars explained that they did recover four people who are still unconscious but aren't dead-- Kevin, Andrea, Streaky & Ace the Bat Hound. They are also beat up pretty badly. Krypto is glad that the Dog Stars saved them just in time however it doesn't repair the damage left by Dark Krypto.

The Dog Stars explained that there is a planet that Krypto must go to. It is a Solar System Recovery Unit that is able to repair the damage to any solar system. When Krypto is healed, they beam him down to the tiny planet. Krypto asks who is in charge and one little purple alien says to "Come this way, Kryptonian. An appointment has been scheduled." Krypto thinks the Dog Stars contacted them. They arrive to the head of the Unit, who is able to explain that it is not common but can happen to any Kryptonian. Superman did not have this reaction, but for some reason Krypto did. They show him a weapon-- sort of looks like a vacuum cleaner-- that will drain Krypto's bad side out of him while Krypto is still sleeping as a puppy on his rocket ship. Krypto asks how, and they show him a really confusing math theory that "when you travel back in space, you travel back in time".

Krypto is sent on another rocket toward the Kryptonian Rocket that sent Krypto to Earth, while he was still a puppy. The head of the unit explained that it is the best time to do that. They launched him into the direction of where the Rocket was one and a half years ago, and launch. (They also explained it may take a few hours to get to the Kryptonian Rocket Ship.) Krypto is busy sleeping when he crashes into the same rocket as when he went to Earth.

Krypto hops into the rocket ship, looks around to see the Puppy Self and the jumbled wires. Krypto turns on the vacuum cleaner-type weapon and sucks some sort of black dust into the vacuum cleaner. When the machine says that it is done, and all of it is inside, he gets back outside into the rocket he was in and blasts to the Solar System Recovery Unit, then lands. When Krypto and the vacuum-type weapon come out, the head of the unit comes out, explains that they will study the Puppy Dark Krypto until they can find a cure for Kryptonians who escaped the destruction of Krypton that have the effects related to what Krypto had. Until then, they put Krypto in a pod, and then the little alien presses "Reverse".

Like a tape rewinding, Krypto lands back to where Kevin and Dark appear. Krypto blinks and sees Kevin and Dark staring at him in confusion. He explains that something happened and that he will tell Kevin and Dark later. Until then, they play until they couldn't play anymore.

As for Dark Krypto, only Krypto knew about Dark Krypto and the Dark Krypto events that had happened in the past had not even happen. Not even Kevin remembers about the past events, or the Dog Stars, not even Ace or Streaky. Eventually the Solar System Recovery Unit did find a cure, although they never found any Kryptonian in the universe with a dark side. Dark Krypto faded away as a distant memory when Krypto sucked his Dark side out of the Kryptonian Puppy. (Thank goodness, he was about to destroy other planets as well!)

    The End.

Hello everyone. Just thought you'd like to know. Casey got a B plus on his story. His teacher liked the storyline, but felt it had weakened too much at the end. Not bad for his first try, eh?

Will be heading up to New England in the morning (our flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems this morning). Will talk to all of you in about 10 days.

Comickook is really the co-author of this story. He came up with the title, a lot of the action scenes and filled in some other details.

Who was that cat I saw you with last night?

It's a cold, snowy late afternoon in Metropolis. Streaky is reluctantly flying patrol for Krypto who was spending some time with Kevin, playing in the snow. As he flies over downtown, Streaky hears a call for help. As he flies in closer, he sees a female calico cat holding on to two kittens.

She sees Streaky and calls to him, saying a sewer manhole was missing and two of her kittens just fell in. Streaky is surprised to recognize his old friend, Ginger (they've known each other since they were kittens themselves, but haven't seen each other for about a year-and-a-half human time), but there's no time to say hi, so he dives into the sewer. He comes flying out a few minutes later with the two kittens, both kittens looking drenched in sewer water and smelling pretty bad because of it, but still completely unharmed) . He smiles and comments they sure are cute little guys as he hands them to her and says she should be on her way home now. But the cat tells him she's homeless. Her family moved away from Metropolis and left her just before she had her kittens. Now she's a homeless single mom.

Streaky is indignant. "What some people won't do", he says. He thinks about it and decides there's no way he can take her and the kittens to the shelter but he has another idea. Krypto won't like it, but then, Streaky reasons, he didn't like having to finish up patrol for Krypto on his own either, so they'd be even.

A little later Krypto returns from the park with Kevin and enters his house. He hears something and asks if that's Streaky below. Krypto goes below and sees that the spaceship is inhabited by four kittens and a mother cat, in addition to Streaky. He turns to Krypto and begs, "Please Krypster, you can't just put them out on the street. They would freeze." Krypto sighs, of course he's too good-hearted to do that, but he does feel like Streaky is taking advantage of him. He says, "OK, Streaky, but it's temporary, we need to find a good permanent home for them." Streaky thanks him and says they will get on it tomorrow.

Krypto then explains he will trust Streaky to take care of this while he is on patrol with the Dog Stars until tomorrow afternoon. With that Krypto puts on his spacesuit and heads for outer space.

Meanwhile, while Krypto and Streaky were too pre-occupied with THEIR conversation to overhear her, Ginger is speaking into a small receiver on her collar. She says she's in and she can take pictures of the alien craft, maybe they can duplicate some of the technology.
As she speaks, the scene shifts to a shadowy cat figure who is watching a TV Monitor.

Ginger continues, reporting that all is going according to plan. But she adds, "Streaky won't be hurt, will he? They were friends back before he became Supercat and he saved her kittens, after all." The figure replies, she should keep to her own business or she will never see that fifth kitten of hers again, and signs off. The figure turns around and faces the audience. He is a jaguar wearing a musketeer hat and purple cape.

"Ah, greetings, los ninos and las ninas, you were expecting to perhaps see Mechanikat, no? Ah, but I am here to provide you some villainous variety. Too bad the show will have to end, yes, sad but true, for I plan to defeat Supercat once and for all and then Superdog is next. See you later."

Later that evening Streaky is checking on Ginger and her offspring. She says one of them is still learning to speak. The kitten says, "da-da".

    She says "No, I'm ma-ma".

Streaky says "Let me try. As my nephew will vouch, I have a natural knack with kids." He picks up the kitten, who looks at him and says 'da-da.' Just then he hears a throat clearing.

Streaky turns around and sees Princess and Prince Tomaz behind him. Princess looks angrier than Streaky has ever seen her before, and Streaky has a pretty good suspicion why given the scene just seconds ago. She tells him the queen made a surprise visit to Metropolis and she wanted to surprise him, but it looks as if he had the bigger surprise for her.

She turns around and walks out. A fuming Tomaz walks up to Streaky and says he doesn't care what the consequences are to him, but he cannot tolerate the Princess being dishonored. He takes off a white glove and slaps Streaky across the face. Tomaz says Supercat can find him anytime at the Katalian cultural center where he is also visiting.

The supercat is still in shock at this point and calls after Princess and Tomaz, who are walking off, that it is all a mistake, but they ignore him. Tomaz and his guards try to console Princess, who is in tears as they leave the neighborhood.

Ginger turns to Streaky and says she is really sorry, Streaky tells her it's ok, he'll get it straightened out. Ginger begins to cry and says, no, she's sorry about something else and starts to explain everything.

Meanwhile, Tomaz and Princess are starting to calm down and think rationally. Princess agrees with him that this kind of betrayal would be out of character for the Streaky they know. Princess says they have to go back, Streaky must have a good explanation. But before they can turn around they meet a tall shadowy figure with the all-too-visible gleam of a weapon.

A short time later at Krypto's spaceship, Streaky, after first reacting angrily to the betrayal, softens when he learns of the endangered kitten. He is comforting Ginger and planning his next course of action when Tomaz returns, looking somewhat bruised and his cloak in tatters.

First he offers Streaky his apologies and then before Streaky can respond, tells him Count Jagwire has set up operations back on earth and had taken Princess and Squeaky. After a fierce battle, he defeated Tomaz and his guards and set them free to deliver the news to Streaky: If he wants Princess, Squeaky and Ginger's kitten, he is to come to an abandoned athletic club in downtown Metropolis. Tomaz gets on his knees and says he owes Streaky a debt of honor for doubting him and is duty-bound to accompany him on the mission. Streaky tells him it's OK, but Tomaz insists and says maybe he can help, demonstrating his energy-blast-emitting sword; made from scraps of alien technology left over from Deliah's attempted coupe` a few months back (one of the very few GOOD things to come out of the plot).

They take off, but first stop at Mrs. Fritch's house where Rosie agrees to look after the kittens until they return (playfully tickling one of the kittens as she makes the agreement).

When they arrive at the abandoned athletic club, they are shocked to be met by Deliah, who says she wouldn't miss the demise of Streaky for anything, especially when it will be at the claws of her new boyfriend. She calls out, "Darling, our victory is near!" Streaky queasily grasps his stomach and says his lunch is near.

Deliah steps back and behind her are 30 8-foot tall, very muscular anthro-tigers armed with blasters and energy swords of their own (all hired by Deliah and Jagwire just to up the difficulty for the heroes a bit). One of them swats aside the three guards hard enough to knock them all out for a couple of minutes and then the tiger mercenaries ALL charge Streaky and Tomaz, but the agile Tomaz disables several of them before he is forced to retreat. Streaky barely manages to dodge the blasts, but a combination of super-speed, heat-vision and super-breath finally stops the remaining tigers.

The tigers defeated, Streaky hears a voice coming from inside a large chamber : "Buenos Noches, Supercat."

Streaky replies, "If it isn't the no-account count. Mucho roches to you, el creepo."

As Streaky enters, he hears his nephew calling to him: "Don't come in, Uncle Streaky. It's a trap!" But it's too late and a metal door slams shut behind him.

Meanwhile, Tomaz and his guards, who have come to right after the battle, but were still a little woozy, have found an entryway left unguarded during the big battle and begin looking for Ginger's kitten. They hear crying and see the kitten in a small room at the back with only one guard on duty. While HIS guards distract the enemy guard, Tomaz charges and the guard falls unconscious from a quick energy blast. Outside, Ginger is waiting for them and there is a joyful reunion and then she and Tomaz embrace.

But inside, the fight is far from over. Streaky quickly realizes the room has been configured to simulate a Kryptonian environment (i.e. gravity as heavy as Krypton's and an artificial red sun) leaving Streaky without his powers. The count is wearing a gravity regulating system on his person so that the artificial gravity doesn't affect him.

As Streaky dodges the count (which isn't easy without his flying ability and super-speed, but he's still managing it.... barely), he reflects that his experience avoiding dogs on the street in his pre-Supercat days should be helpful. At one point he lures the count toward a pile of boxes, then knocks one over (albeit with a fair amount of effort, given that Streaky is presently without his super-strength), tripping the count, who snarls in anger as the remaining boxes fall on him (Jagwire might be unaffected by the increased gravity, but the boxes AREN'T, so this is very effective in pinning the count down at least temporarily). Streaky uses the opportunity to rescue Squeaky and get him out of the room. It's tough going because Squeaky can't move at all in the increased gravity and Streaky's barely strong enough to move about AND drag the kitten to safety, but he DOES manage to succeed.

As the count is still pinned down and with Squeaky out of harm's way, Streaky approaches the count in a daring move and begins randomly hitting buttons on the suit he is wearing. It appears he finds the right button as the gravity begins affecting the count, who is now trapped and can't even move enough to turn the device back on.

Streaky, thanks to his Kryptonian powers, is still, at least, able to move about as freely in a Kryptonian environment as a normal cat can in an Earth environment, something Streaky is presently VERY thankful for.

Now freed, Squeaky runs through the building and finally locates the control room. Once inside, he deactivates the gravity entirely and alters the solar generation to simulate intensified yellow sunlight, leaving Jagwire floating about (due to the current zero gravity) blind (due to the brightness of the yellow sunlight), but instantly restoring Streaky's powers.

Meanwhile Tomaz and his guards find Princess being guarded by Deliah. They attack and force Deliah to retreat, but she gets away from them, gloating that her boyfriend will still triumph over that stupid cat. Tomaz, Princess and the guards are left to anxiously await the outcome of the battle going on inside.

Streaky, being pretty used to flying by now, naturally has much more experience maneuvering in zero gravity than Jagwire, and takes advantage of this to gleefully drag the count out and uses his super-breath to knock the wind out of him. The count keels over, muttering incoherently.

As he unleashes his super-breath blast, Streaky has an especially sneaky idea. After flying Jagwire out of the presently zero gravity environment, he then scoops up one of the barely conscious tigers, a female commander and props her up next to the count as if the two were embracing. 'After all, turnabout IS fair play' Streaky silently thinks with a snicker. He calls out in a Spanish accent: "Streaky is defeated, let us celebrate, my dear!" Deliah enters and, infuriated by what she sees, screams it's the last time he'll pull this on her, takes out her blaster and begins firing away at the count, who is recovered JUST enough to beat a hasty retreat. Streaky and Tomaz laugh, and Streaky says those two can fight it out until the space rangers arrive, to which Tomaz good-naturedly agrees.

Ginger walks up to Tomaz holding her kitten and says he is her new hero. Tomaz and Ginger have an announcement to make. It looks like Streaky and Princess aren't the only ones in a long-distance relationship. Tomaz offered to take her back to his kingdom, but they decided that was too big an adjustment to make, what with the kittens and all so, with the permission of Princess, she and the kittens are staying at the Katalian cultural center.

Streaky congratulates Tomaz and says he's happy for his old friend. Tomaz says not to worry, he and Princess have influence with the humans at the cultural center and Ginger and her kittens will be well taken care of. Behind them, space rangers arrive and take away the securely-handcuffed Count and Deliah, who are still snarling angrily at one another (Deliah angry at Jagwire for the suspected unfaithfulness and Jagwire angry at Deliah for falling for Streaky's trick enough to actually attack HIM [but angrier still at Streaky for pulling the trick in the first place]).

Princess sees Streaky and they look at each other uncomfortably until Princess finally takes his paw and offers her apology for doubting him, adding that she owes him one. Streaky eagerly says a fish dinner would repay the debt. Princess agrees as long as Streaky minds his manners while eating, and he does, as Squeaky, Tomaz, Ginger and the kittens join them for their feast.

Everyone else has gone home and Streaky prepares to nap, thinking everything turned out just fine. Then he has a thought. Krypto's spaceship, no one cleaned up after the kittens! He looks inside and finds Kryptonian tools strewn all over the floor, open tins of cat food and yarn wound around everything. Krypto enters and remarks that he's only away for a few hours and Streaky and his friend's kittens leave the place a complete wreck. Krypto smiles and shakes his head, did Streaky accomplish anything while he was gone? Streaky shrugs, “K-Dog, you wouldn't believe me if I told you. Let's just say it was just a typical day in the life of Supercat.” as he gets to work cleaning up the mess Ginger's kittens made (though, to his credit, Krypto IS enough of a good sport to help out with the cleaning).

Hello all. Just got back from New England this afternoon. Had a wonderful time (except for the 5 days of rain). I did come up with a couple of story ideas but will need to consult with my associate writer (Casey). Once everything is down on paper, they will be posted.

    Until later, take care.

I thought up another idea involving Dark Krypto. This one takes places after he's ressurected, but before he is reborn as Dark.

    Dark Krypto to the Rescue?

While playing Kevin in the park, Krypto hears a call for help and goes off to find the source. While he is away, Kevin decides to head home. When krypto finishes his duty, he realizes Kevin went home and heads there as well. However, he arrives to find that Kevin isn't there. Krypto asks Streaky if he ever saw Kevin come back, and Streaky says he hasn't. The two both decide to go look for him. They search every part of the city, but can't find him. Dark Krypto spots Krypto nearby, and decides to have a confrontation, he could use a workout. When he confronts krypto, Krypto tells him he doesn't have the time to deal with him. When Dark Krypto contradicts him, Krypto tells him that Kevin is in trouble. Dark Krypto grows furious and yells at Krypto for letting something happen to him. He knocks Krypto aside and goes to search on his own. With his amplifide supersenses, he discovers a cloaked ship. When he enters, he gets gets trapped in a kryptonite cage. The culprits are the aliens that were responsilbe for the Fake Krypto from before. They abducted Kevin to lure him back. Dark Krypto laughs and tells them that their plan would have worked if he was really Krypto. He easily breaks free and defeats the aliens. He frees kevin and shoves him outside the ship. Dark Krypto then blows it up as the ship tries to leave Earth. Dark Krypto forcefully returns Kevin to Krypto, and Krypto thanks him. Krypto says that Dark Krypto isn't so evil after all. With that comment, Dark Krypto easily snaps and defeats Krypto. He laughs and that says when he's finally free of his cursed affection for Kevin, he'll prove how evil he really is. As Dark Krypto leaves, Kevin rushes over to Krypto and asks if he's okay. Krypto just stares off, wondering what was really going on in Dark Krypto's mind.

Hello all. Just got back from New England this afternoon. Had a wonderful time (except for the 5 days of rain). I did come up with a couple of story ideas but will need to consult with my associate writer (Casey). Once everything is down on paper, they will be posted.

    Thanks very much Ladsone.

    Until later, take care.

This is an idea I came up with for a 12-minute episode while on vacation and driving along the coast of Maine. It's a little change of pace in the style because it will be more educational than anything, so here goes.

KRYPTO THE SUPERDOG IN: A WHALE OF A TALE

The story opens on a Friday afternoon at Superman Elementary School. Krypto is there waiting for Kevin to get out of school for a three-day weekend. The bell rings and all the kids come running out of the building yelling that another weekend has come. Krypto notices that Kevin is not among the first out (like he usually is). A few minutes later, Kevin comes walking out of school looking like he had just lost his best friend. Krypto runs up to him, frisbee in mouth and tail happily wagging. Kevin sees him and says he just wants to go home. K-dog drops the frisbee out of his mouth and asks Kevin what's wrong.

Kevin explains that one of his teachers has given the class an assignment to write a two-page report on whales that will be due when they come back to class on Tuesday. Kevin also explains that the reports will be featured at the class open house later on in the week. Krypto tries to cheer Kevin up by telling him that he will help Kevin with his report as best as he can. Kevin asks where they can find a whale because the Metropolis aquarium does not have any. When they get home, K-dog and kevin go down to the rocket and contacts Dorcan at the JLA headquarters. Dorcan agrees to meet them and our two friends prepare for the assignment.

The next morning, K-dog and Kevin meet Dorcan at the JLA compound. Dorcan tells them that there are some whales a few miles offshore that are heading south for the winter. Kevin asks how they will get out there to see the whales, and Krypto says that is not a problem. They will use the JLA mini-sub to go out to sea. K-dog and Kevin climb on board and head out with Dorcan leading the way. A short time later, they arrive at the location and moments later, Dorcan surfaces, followed by three whales. Dorcan explains to Kevin (who is taking notes) how whales were at one time, nearly hunted to extinction, but have made a comeback. K-dog and Kevin spend about an hour with the whales when they tell Dorcan they have to leave to catch up to the rest of the pod. Kevin thanks them and the whales swim off. Dorcan tells Kevin that he knows that he'll do a wonderful job on his report. Dorcan tells his friends goodbye and leaves to head back to Atlantis. Krypto and Kevin head back to the compound to write his report. They finish the report and head home to play for the rest of the day.

On Tuesday, Kevin turns his report in with the rest of the class. The next Friday, K-dog is at the school again waiting for Kevin. When the bell rings, Kevin is the first one out and runs over to Krypto and hugs him. Kevin tells him that he got an A on his report and they head off to the park to enjoy the weekend.

Thanks for sharing this idea, Ladsone. I mean, sure it's pretty much educational fare, but I still thank you for writing it because it seems, for fan work (and fans are exactly what we are) rather well-written educational fare. Once more, thank you very much for checking back in with us.

I'll definitely do my best. Though I have to say it looks like you're only eight away from your at least 100th post.

Here's a story featuring the 23rd Century Dog Star Squadron, co-written with Comickook. I was really intrigued by Comickook's Master Mimic and Equalizer characters and I had this idea involving them, which he helped me to fully realize and I thnk him for adding so much good stuff to the story. Anyone interested can learn more about these characters in the Future Animals thread.

    Wedding Bell Doom

As the scene opens, the mid-23rd century Dog Stars are gathered in a training room. Dash Hound is telling his teammates, "this should be good, the guy is actually afraid of Frisbees." As Tralfaz walks in, Laser Lab, smirking, says, "Hey, pal, wanna play Frisbee?" Tralfaz nervously says maybe later.

Equalizer says playfully, "Oh come on," and throws the Frisbee at him, accidentally putting some of her natural super-strength behind the throw. It hits him in the nose and knocks him over.... after he goes flying back about ten feet. Everyone laughs except for Equalizer (who's feeling guilty about the throw), Cobra Canine (who just has no sense of humor and is glaring at the already highly ashamed Equalizer), Air Dale and Whizzy (who are his two best friends).

Feeling humiliated, Tralfaz slinks out. Dash has never liked Tralfaz and as he laughs, remarks, "What a total wimp.", which earns him a pretty dirty look from both Air Dale AND Whizzy

But Equalizer feels bad about accidentally throwing the Frisbee too hard and decides to apologize. Soon they leave his room and he says they're using their off duty time time to go to dinner. Laser Lab and Dash Hound's jaws drop and Dash says, "That guy works faster than me."

But Tralfaz says, "we're just friends who want to talk." Air Dale and Whizzy smile and the former tells them to have a good time.

At dinner they learn they have a lot in common with their family problems, Equalizer being the daughter of a notorious villain and Starhound having a rocky relationship with his own father, the former Starhound, who makes no secret of the fact he always favored his deceased older son. As the evening continues, Equalizer tells him his conversation about the history of superheroes was entertaining, even though she admits some of the more arcane references went over her head. But as they talk, they don't notice a dark
afghan dog off in a corner watching them. His interest picks up when he sees Tralfaz hand Equalizer a ring. He is telling her it's an interesting artifact he has been studying, a Green Lantern ring from the 20th century and she tries it on. The dark figure picks up a communicator and urgently asks to speak to the master. He isn't listening as Tralfaz says Equalizer is like a sister to him.

Later, Tralfaz is reading in bed, about Ancient Gordanian history, one of his favorite topics. He reflects that Equalizer seems to be very nice, despite the little incident with the Frisbee, funny he'd never taken notice of her before. Suddenly there's a sound, a dark figure throws something at him and the room fills with gas. When he awakens, he is without his Starhound gear and a dark dog tells him it's time to meet the master.

They enter a large room and a huge St. Bernard gets up and peers down at him, scowling, hmm, you don't look like much to me, he says. Tralfaz folds his arms and asks "what is the meaning of this?"

Master Mimic introduces himself. Tralfaz chuckles and asks if he can do Huckleberry Hound. Mimic scowls and ignoring the jest, which he's heard variations on many
times, says he only wants to meet his future son-in-law. Tralfaz, puzzled, says "Son-in-law?"

MM explains that even though he is thought of as a notorious villain, he is very concerned about his daughter's future. Perhaps, he says, it is time he gave up his life of crime for the sake of her happiness. Master Mimic's face adopts a surprisingly warm expression and he says "Welcome to the family, son." He embraces Tralfaz, who moans that his back is breaking.

Recovering, Tralfaz seems more interested in a vase in the corner of the office. He says its remarkable to see Thanagerian pottery of this vintage, muttering under his breath that it was stolen no doubt.

Then the Mimic clears his throat and asks for Tralfaz's full attention His expression changes in a few seconds from warm and friendly to menacing as he says if he ever sees his daughter unhappy for one second.... He picks up a fairly tough looking bone from a dish on his desk and crushes it to powder with one bare paw. Tralfaz gulps and remarks Master Mimic should know they can do wonderful things with 23rd Century psychiatry.

The villain seems to take no notice of the remark and guards lead a nervous Tralfaz out of the room, MM makes himself a note to have that nerdish goof killed as soon as he deals with his daughter. He gets out a file folder and pulls out a photo of Rodrigo, a brutish-looking St. Bernard who is one of his top lieutenants, much more suitable son-in-law material, he thinks. With the Dog Stars out the way, everything will be like it's supposed to. His daughter will return, she'll marry Rodrigo and then, grandchildren. He smiles warmly, they'll be a family again.

Earlier, the Dog Stars had awoken and realized their security had been breached. Tral's gone, Air Dale says as Whizzy begins scouring the ship for clues with his X-ray and microscopic vision and Prophetic Pup tries to locate something Tralfaz had on recently so that she can get a "'physic scent'". Equalizer has a sudden realization and tells them she thinks her father is behind it.

One of his known hideouts is nearby and they head in that direction. As they approach he communicates with them by video screen and asks Equalizer about her wedding plans. She is shocked and asks what he means. He tells her not to pretend, she wouldn't want future hubby to be hurt. He invites her in and she decides the best thing to do is play along. She heads for Tralfaz and says "Darling!" as she embraces him. He moans she's crushing the few vertebrae her father missed. She whispers, "Sorry about the grip. Still, be quiet, you don't know what he's capable of."

Master Mimic says he's so happy for his daughter, he wants to see a wedding as soon as possible, when all their friends can make it. He'll even declare a truce with the Dog Stars.

"Hey, no offense," Tral says, "But I don't really want to..." She konks him lightly on the head (just enough to put him out for a couple of minutes without really hurting him) and he keels over.
She tells her father, "Don't worry, he has these fainting spells." He tells her to go back and tell her friends to come back tomorrow. He'll hold on the groom for safekeeping, he adds menacingly.

Equalizer reports back to her friends. He has some warped idea about a wedding and they're all sure it's a trap. But Air Dale says, Master Mimic knows they won't desert their friend, so they have to attend. Whizzy slams his right fist into his left paw as he nods his agreement. "However, aside from you and me, AD, only a couple of us should go in. The rest should probably lie in wait on the ship in case we need back-up or a quick escape. Just my honest opinion, though.".

None of the other heroes can argue with the super-cat's logic in this case. Air Dale says Dash should go in because they might need his speed to smuggle in Tralfaz's Starhound gear (to which Dash groans a bit).

Fireball volunteers to go in too since she figures the team needs somebody going in who has experience with the sneaky stuff. Equalizer tells them to stick with her, she doesn't think he'll do anything to hurt her.

So the next day, the five Dog Stars on the rescue team (counting Equalizer) enter the large teleportation-shielded lair of their adversary. Air Dale was picked to serve as best man, Fireball as the maid of honor and Megacat and Dash Hound are also both in attendance as added witnesses. Master Mimic comes out and says the bride needs to prepare.

They want to see that Tral is ok, and he agrees to show him to Air Dale. They're suspicious, but proceed anyway, not wanting to risk getting their friend hurt.

Seeing his friend, Air Dale smiles, "Tral, you're all dressed up for the big event." Tralfaz is wearing an over sized tuxedo and top hat, obviously made for a St. Bernard and hastily re-tailored. He glares and tells Dale this is humiliating. MM says, it's a pity they couldn't all show up. His face begins to contort with hate but he sees Equalizer behind him and begins smiling again.

He tells her she needs to go and prepare, but she refuses and says she wants her friends with her. She tells him the idea is insane, they need more time to plan a proper wedding.

But he bares his teeth and says he's decided not to give the bride away.

Bars close down and a a force field generates in front of the bars; trapping the other heroes despite Equalizer's protests (MM designed the force field so that Cobra Canine couldn't just use her super-flexibility to slither through the bars [Cobra Canine wasn't in attendance, but MM designed the trap to be prepared for ANY of the Dog Stars]).

She struggles against the grips of three of her father's robotic enforcers (who are holding her securely but gently outside the range in which she could try to duplicate her teammates' powers) but despite her super-strength, these robots are pretty well made and, unlike her father, Equalizer's power duplicating powers don't allow her to copy mechanically induced abilities.

Master Mimic reveals that the structure is wired to explode in a half-hour but he has plenty of time to escape with his daughter. But he is surprised when she refuses to leave with him (using careful leverage to trip up the enforcer robots enough for get them to release her) and says she will try to disarm the explosives. He tries to stop her but meanwhile Air Dale, Megacat, Dash Hound, Fireball and Starhound (Fireball's flirting with MM's lair guards at just the right times [only the fact he knew full well she was only
flirting as a diversionary tactic kept Whizzy {who has a pretty good-sized crush on Fireball} calm enough not to mess things up] and Dash Hound's super-speed allowed them to smuggle the Starhound gear in) are escaping after discovering that a combination of super breath, super-strength, super-speed, fire powers and stellar energy is enough to break open their prison (albeit barely).

The five heroes are confronted by the dreaded villain and a battle rages between them (Master Mimic duplicates all the combined powers of all five of his opponents [including Starhound's since MM's powers CAN duplicate powers gained by mechanical means]). Master Mimic says he is grudgingly impressed that just the five of them were able to get through the super-tough metal of those bars AND the force field. He also adds that he'd have to make a note to have the guards who let that nerdy wimp's super-gear get smuggled in severely punished. Within earshot, MM's lieutenant Rodrigo, who was supposed to be supervising the guards, gulps nervously as the battle rages on.

During the battle, Master Mimic sees that he has done considerable damage to Tralfaz's Starhound gear and is determined to destroy him (while Air Dale, Dash Hound, Fireball and Megacat; already badly battered themselves from the fight; are all being securely restrained by, between all of them, about two dozen of the villain's security robots [who were NOT being anywhere near as gentle with these heroes as they were with Equalizer]), but Equalizer (just close enough to the battle to duplicate the combined powers of Air Dale, Megacat, Dash Hound and Fireball) comes to his rescue just in time by zipping between the two with her temporary super-speed and standing firm (while also using her temporary fire powers [very carefully aimed as to not hit her other teammates] to soften up the robots enough for the just arriving and fairly fresh Laser Labrador and Cobra Canine [only Prophetic Pup stayed on the ship; both because she's wise enough to know her powers aren't of much use in DIRECT combat for the most part AND because somebody has to make sure the Dog Stars' ship is kept on the ready for a quick getaway to finish off the robots [freeing their teammates in the bargain] with their respective laser powers and acid spit). Equalizer displays a determined look on her face that says "don't mess with my teammates." Tral is trying hard not to show any fear, but there is a clearly relieved look on his face as Equalizer shields him from the enraged villain (and an even more relieved look as Air Dale flies up to him [fighting through his pain] and starts flying him to safety WHILE Equalizer is staring down her evil father)

With the battle in a standoff and with time before the building explodes slipping away, they finally all retreat and leave the area in their ships just in time. As the Dog Stars depart, they look below and see the large building in the center of the villains' lair explode and crumble. Master Mimic's ship can be seen far in the distance, heading for another of his many lairs.

Later, the Dog Stars celebrate (well, except for Prophetic Pup and Whizzy; Whizzy is trying to fix Tralfaz's Starhound gear and improve Tralfaz's Starhound gear [Tralfaz has asked Whizzy to look into ways to make the gear more attack-resistant] and Prophetic Pup also insists that the ship's security will need to be improved and is looking over blueprints FOR the needed improvements [fully intent on showing them to Whizzy so that the tech-savvy super-cat could help her on that project once he was done fixing
and improving Tralfaz's gear]). Tralfaz expresses his gratitude to all his teammates, even Dash, he says with a small smile. He adds that he especially wants to thank Equalizer for saving his life, it couldn't have been easy, standing up to her father like that, he tells her. But she downplays her heroism, saying he's her teammate and she knows he would come to her aid if the situation was reversed.

Air Dale responds that's right, they're a team and they look out for each other. "I don't know what I'd do without you guys," he says.
Then the normally serious Air Dale smiles and announces they have something to show everyone. They've been practicing since their return. He takes out a Frisbee and throws it at Tralfaz, who with some noticeable effort, jumps up and grasps it perfectly between his teeth. Everyone, even Dash, cheers as Air Dale puts a paw around his old friend Tralfaz and says, "You the dog." Tral replies, "No, you the dog," and they both chuckle.

Equalizer shakes her head, but smiles and says Dale and Tral and the others are like having goofball brothers, a statement to which Fireball agrees smilingly. In fact, this statement is VERY close to the truth given that Air Dale and Tralfaz knew each other since the former's days as a space ranger years ago (in fact, Air Dale was the partner of Tralfaz's older brother Valiant) and Air Dale visited his partner, Valiant's family quite often in that time, so Air Dale and Tralfaz ended up becoming as close as brothers
    themselves.

The scene fades from her to Master Mimic, alone, in a large, dark empty office, looking at a photo of his daughter. In the background, but in an area of prominent distinction, is another picture of him (in his pre-super-villain days), his wife (who is long dead but still much-beloved by the villain) and all their pups; including Equalizer when she was very young (all the pups except Equalizer were killed in the same freak cosmic occurrence that claimed MM's wife). With tears in his eyes, he is wondering what went wrong. Some day, he thinks, she'll realize her mistake, it's only a matter of time before she returns to her real family.

Back on the Dog Stars' ship, Equalizer is thinking about her dad, how he'd actually be a pretty good dog if not for the tragedy that claimed her mother and siblings. She admits she misses her mother and siblings very much too, but she channeled her grief into more constructive pursuits (such as super-hero work).... like she feels that her mother would have wanted her to. MM took the tragedy differently; lashing out at a universe that so
cruelly claimed the lives of his entire family save one. The heroine mused about the irony that, in his efforts to "get her back", he neglects to think that, if he would have stuck to the straight and narrow, her father never would have "lost" her in the first place.
