it kinda makes sence that tusky-husky and mammoth-mutt will get together.(explains why he was the only one she talked to in "tusky's tooth")

Well, yeah. It kind of DOES make sense when you think of it that way. That's why I thanked you for the inspiration.

Here's an updated and revised (with help from Comickook) profile  for a character who was originally intended only to make a one-shot appearance in one of my episode ideas long ago (the time traveling historian from "The Greatest Hero") and  then I had other ideas for him. This is from a timeline that may or may not actually take place in the 'Krypto' universe.

    Tralfaz the Starhound

Powers/abilities: No inherent powers but wearing a cosmic collar enables him to fly, manipulate gravity to a certain degree, fire energy blasts and generate powerful energy fields (what's more, the collar was also specially rewired by Whizzy to ensure that Master Mimic can never copy its powers again following one particularly close call the Squadron had against the villain [any attempt on MM's part to do so now results in a massively painful feedback shock]). On top of that, his Starhound armor (improved by Whizzy when the super-feline also improved the collar), is nearly indestructible, but surprisingly lightweight. His comprehensive knowledge of superhero history has also proved invaluable to the 23rd Century Dog Stars and he IS a competent detective and tactician, having developed those latter two skills from assisting Valiant and Air Dale on several of their cases back in the pair's space ranger days. His skills at paw-to-paw combat have improved somewhat since he started out as Starhound, but he is still well below the skill level of teammate Air Dale.

Appearance: Standard brown and white collie, wearing a blue cosmic collar and light blue armor as protection from attack

Species: Collie of mixed alien/earth origin

    Home universe: standard Krypto-verse

Personality: He is normally calm and patient, even in time of crisis and often unnecessarily uses big words in everyday speech (either Whizzy or Equalizer often have to act as Tralfaz's translator, depending on which one is in closer proximity at the time). But, although a gifted intellectual, Tralfaz is sometimes lacking in common sense, which often leads to misunderstandings with his fellow Dog Stars. Somewhat shy initially, he has gradually grown into the role of superhero and is now highly respected and is well-liked by his colleagues (with the possible exceptions of Dash Hound and Laser Lab), although detractors often refer to him as a "nerd" or "geek."

Background: An unlikely intellectual hero of the 23rd Century, Professor Tralfaz was one of the galaxy's most respected historians and authors until tragedy changed his life forever.

The son of noted superhero Reynaldo the Starhound, the scholar had been content to live in the shadow of his father and then his brother, who became the new Starhound after ill health forced their father's retirement. But his brother, Valiant, gave his life to save a planet threatened by members of a powerful criminal organization, the revived version of the Cat Crime Club, shortly after taking over the mantle of Starhound. As much as he initially disliked the idea, Tralfaz believed it was his responsibility to carry on the family tradition and his father (who he had an often rocky relationship with) reluctantly gave permission , not realizing quite what his son had in mind. Unfortunately, he was ill-prepared for the job and soon found himself captured by the CCC. He likely would have met the same fate as his brother if not for the intervention of the 23rd Century version of the Dog Star Patrol. His old friend, Air Dale, the team's second-in-command vouched for him and he was awarded  a probationary membership on the team.

Putting his academic career on hold, he served the Patrol first as an advisor and junior member. He improved his abilities and eventually earned full membership as a member of the Dog Star Squadron. Despite saving the day many times, the bookish Tralfaz is known as "Dr. Dweeb" to Dash Hound and other detractors. The same critics also allege his most deadly weapon is his ability to bore listeners with lectures on incredibly obscure historical minutae.

Tralfaz continues his studies in his spare time and occasionally time travels to visit his subjects, including Krypto and Streaky (the first visit was before he became Starhound). He is a close friend of Air Dale, Dog Star second-in-command (Dale was the partner of Valiant when the two served as space rangers) and Dog Star member Whizzy the Megacat (who is only the second CAT to become a member of the Squadron), the latter of whom he has known since college. Tralfaz and Whizzy often enjoy discussing technical issues that would go over the heads of most of the other Dog Star members. Whizzy is also the designer of the current Starhound costume and equipment, which was redesigned to offer better protection from attack.

Before becoming Starhound, Tralfaz had occasionally aided Dale and Valiant on cases involving superhero lore, his first forays into taking an active role in the superhero world he had often written about. At one time he even aided the Space Rangers by attempting to masquerade as Bat Hound in an attempt to trap a Bat Hound-obsessed villain. He and Dale got to know each other well when Dale visited Valiant and Tralfaz's father during his space ranger days and the two became close friends, even staying in touch after Dale left the Space Rangers to become a Dog Star and Dale provided valuable information for his research on Kryptonian heroes.

After some awkward initial adventures together, including one where they were forced into a phony 'wedding' ceremony, he has developed something of a silent crush on fellow hero Equalizer although; despite Dash Hound's insinuations otherwise; the two are just friends who enjoy discussing superhero history (after all, in addition to the good professor's bashfulness concerning women, he also knows that Equalizer and Air Dale each secretly have somewhat more than professional feelings for the other [or, at least strongly SUSPECTS it] and is honorable enough to keep his distance as far as THAT detail goes; especially since Dale is one of his two best friends). It also helps that Equalizer has long been an admirer of the professor's work and is surprisingly good at understanding the jargon in his books and translating them into plain English (well, "plain intergalactic animal" would be more accurate, but you get the idea). At the same time, the professor seems oblivious to Prophetic Pup's increasingly broad hints she would be interested in a romantic relationship, much to the frustration of Fireball who has tried to act as a matchmaker for the two.

He and his legendary father have become closer recently following a shared Father's Day adventure and the two continue to keep in touch, his father even occasionally offering advice on major cases and, on rare occasions, taking an active role in his adventures.

Professor Tralfaz has won numerous awards for his research and is the author of quite a large series of best-selling books on the history of Earth's superhero pets, including the award-winning "World's Finest: the Real Story of Krypto, Streaky and Ace", his "United We Stand" series on the histories of super-animal hero teams (including the original Dog Star Patrol, the Justice League of Animals, the Pantheon of Familiars and the Ultra-Cats) and his "Looking into Many Mirrors" series following the exploits of the great animal heroes in other universes. He also acts as a consultant for many of the movies based on the legendary exploits of the greatest super-hero animals of the 21st and 22nd centuries, almost all of the proceeds to his book sales and movie consultant gigs being donated to the Valiant Foundation, a charity group founded in respectful memory of Tralfaz's brother Valiant.

Sorry, but I'd like to add a little more to mine.

Name: Jerry (superhero alias: Bathound, or as we know him as, Bathound Beyond)

    Species: Dog

Abilities/Equipment: A special super-suit that gives him strength, agility, and an array of cool gadgets

Number of Years In The Future: 40

Physical Description: Black, with a black super-suit (see Abilities/Equipment)

Personality: Plucky, eager, and a little impulsive

History (since I figured this is important, too): Jerry was adopted, from the animal shelter, by Terry McGinnis's little brother, Matt. One day, Jerry followed Terry to the Batcave, where he learned that Bruce Wayne was the old Batman, and his dog, Ace, was his "partner", Bathound. One day, Jerry sneaks off with Ace's old uniform, then meets a group of superhero animals known as the Star Patrol Unlimited (SPU), led by Superdog and a few of the original Dog Stars. Once Ace found out, he was furious, but an old friend convinced him to give Jerry a chance with the suit. After stopping the supervillain Dr. Oblongata, Jerry had proven himself worthy of being Ace's successor and becoming Jerry the Bathound, aka, to us, Bathound Beyond. However, he turned down the offer of joining the SPU.

    Thanks again, Dan.

    Anyway, here's my next one.

    Name: Cortex

    Species: Part-Alien Afghan, Part Alien-Dachshund

Abilities: High intelligence; Gifted tactician and gadgeteer; Limited telepathy, telekinesis and pyrokinesis (i.e. the ability to start and/or control fires with his mind).

Personality: Natural born leader; Can be very friendly and is even a bit flirtatious concerning Rao (aka Superdog III [see my file on Rao on this very thread {post twenty}), but knows how to be ultra-serious and, yet, extremely calm (definitely doesn't take after his maiden grandfather []) in an emergency.

Description: Looks like a male Brainy Barker except with dark red fur and no cape attached to the collar, which has a "'C'" tag on it.

Number of Human Years In The Future: Twenty years.

Descended from: Cortex's paternal grandmother is Brainy Barker (Cortex gets his flirtatiousness [at least around Rao], from Brainy's MATE's [who isn't a pre-existing Krypto character] side of the family). His maiden grandfather is Hot Dog (whose mate also wasn't a pre-existing Krypto character).

I was thinking of this villain for the 23rd century characters I was developing. He exists in one possible timeline for the Krypto characters.

    Niccolo the 'Canine Chronometer'

Once a widely respected historical scholar of the 23rd century, Professor Niccolo was revealed as a villain, seeking to gain control of his world's timeline, by superhero Reynaldo the Starhound. Niccolo swore revenge on Reynaldo and the emnity extended to Reynaldo's son, Tralfaz. As Niccolo's student, Tralfaz was given a failing grade for his research paper: “How Streaky and Krypto paved the way for today's intergalactic peace.” “Naive fanboy drivel” he labeled the paper. (The failing grade was later overturned by an academic review committee.)
Using stolen technology of the 23rd century, Niccolo gained the unfettered ability to travel in time and now seeks to undo the progress made by the superheroes and replace it with a totalitarian rule in which his own ideas would be unchallenged. (On taking over as Starhound, Tralfaz found himself forced into something akin to a time-traveling game of chess in which he used his own time-traveling capabilities to block Niccolo's efforts to alter history.) Niccolo's ultimate goal is to prevent the existence of Superdog in his timeline, eliminating the spread of superheroes and paving the way for his own unchallenged rule. Revenge is also a motivating factor for his criminal efforts as he is well aware that if successful he would nullify Tralfaz's superhero research. He ultimately crosses paths with Krypto on several occasions during his attempts to eliminate the superdog. The combined efforts of Krypto and two eras of Dog Stars finally forced Niccolo into taking refuge somewhere in the past.

Niccolo has equipped himself with a personal force field, power-blast emitting gloves and inpenetrable blue armor of a currently unknown alien design that make him more than a match for Starhound. His costume also includes a dark grey cape and helmet.

Personality: Niccolo is, obviously, extremely intelligent, and also tends to the meglomaniacal, but disguises this with a disarming charm and engaging sense of humor, at least until his patience runs out. He has an almost compulsive need to manipulate and dominate others.

Breed: An alien German Shepherd-type breed

    Fireball
23rd Century cat member of the reorganized Dog Star Squadron

Fireball is a cat mutant who met up with the 23rd Century Dog Stars when they came to her planet to battle members of Cat Crime Cartel. She ended up playing a major role in helping them topple the evil leader of the planet's crime underground who had subjugated the world's cats. She was awarded honorary Dog Star membership for her assistance but she found herself intrigued by the dog superheroes and their battle against the kinds of criminals who had made life miserable for her friends. To their surprise, she applied for full membership as a Dog Star and, with the retirement of Ultra-Hot Dog, was accepted.
Fireball was born with the ability to emit balls of fire that somewhat resemble hairballs. With practice she has developed deadly aim with her power and can also form fire rings and walls of fire to trap her enemies. She is a determined fighter who grew up in a tough atmosphere and learned the art of fighting dirty at a young age. As a result, she is more willing to use trickery and deception against her opponents than her teammates. At the same time she is extremely loyal to her comrades and they enjoy good-natured ribbing about the differences between cats and dogs.

Personality: She has a very outgoing personality and makes friends easily. Fireball is somewhat flirtatious and enjoys playfully teasing Starhound who may have a crush on her.

Breed: She is an alien mixed-breed tabby cat.

Here's another future Dog Star character I decided to make an updated and revised profile for. Thanks to Comickook for contributing to the revised version

    Dash Hound

    Species: greyhound of earth origin.

    Era: 23rd Century

    Home universe: standard Krypto-verse

Appearance: Standard grey-colored greyhound, very fit naturally, wearing a yellow heat-resistant sweater.

Powers/abilities: Obviously super speed (his speed is about equal to that of the Flash, so he can move and think at the speed of light [though he isn't always smart enough to make best use of his fast thinking], vibrate through solid matter, create powerful whirlwinds by spinning his front paws, spin his body in such a way as to become a living drill or tornado, create the illusion of being many places at once [within close proximity of course] with the help of multiple well-timed after-images and produce incredible friction heat by rubbing an object repeatedly at super-speed). He also has some limited super-strength (nowhere near Kryptonian canine level, but he IS about 25 times stronger than a normal healthy dog his size and breed [and 30 dog years his real junior]) as well as the ability to regenerate cells (even to the point of aging a lot more slowly than an ordinary dog [in fact, his aging speed is now about half that of a human being) and heal rapidly from injuries.

Personality: His past experiences, as an abandoned former racing champion and failed relationships, have left him a bit cynical and he is capable of displaying a a sarcastic and mean-spirited sense of humor. He thinks of himself as quite witty (although he's not really as smart as he thinks he is, he IS intelligent enough to master many of the classic super-speed tricks). He can at times seem smug and egotistical but he is a talented hero and he's all business when he's needed, willing to give his all for his teammates and, though he hates to show it, he really does have a good heart.

Background: Once a champion racer, Dash was a broken-down former racing greyhound who ended up at STAR Labs as a test subject. An experiment gone awry during a storm caused him to be doused him with a random mixture of chemicals and then hit by an electrical charge from an experimental cell regenerator. The combination gave him super-speed, along with the ability to heal quickly from injuries (his aging was even reversed by thirty dog years and he found he now had a greatly slowed down aging rate besides) and some limited super-strength, and ironically, he is now immensely faster than he ever was in his prime as a racing dog.

With his new powers, he decided to take on the dog gang that was fixing races at the track where he formerly raced and threatening his friends, but found he needed the help of the Dog Star Squadron to conduct his investigation and learn to control his super-speed. Although his personality initially left a bad impression on the canine super heroes, Dash showed true heroism by risking his life to save the Dog Stars. They had to admit there was more to him than the sometimes annoying atittude on the surface and he was finally invited to join as a full-time member.

Dash tends to be in a hurry all the time and he also tends to make A LOT of wisecracks, sometimes to the annoyance of his fellow Dog Stars, but he also has the ability to think fast in a crisis. He enjoys showing off his feats of speed when he's not enjoying playing practical jokes, particularly on his 'arch-enemy' on the team, Tralfaz the Starhound. Even after Tralfaz and Dash were forced to team up together on a case when no other Dog Stars were available and the two developed a grudging mutual respect, Dash still gets a hoot out of trying to prank the good professor. However, Dash is also the victim of practical jokes himself, often at the paws of Equalizer, who enjoys turning the tables on him. Dash secretly has an unrequitted crush on Cobra Canine but, at this time, nothing has come of it.

Not too bad, catfan1. Here's my first contribution to your 23rd century Dog Stars idea.

    Cobra Canine

    Species: Alien whippet (female)

Abilities: Super-flexible body that allows her to squeeze through virtually any sized opening and contort her body into a variety of shapes within the limits of her actual size; Ability to spit a super-powerful acid at will with fearsome accuracy (note: the entire inside of her mouth [including her tongue] has a nearly indestructible coating that prevents her from ruining said inside with her own acid-spit power); Upper canine teeth can deliver a dilluted toxin into those she bites that can immobilze a target for up to a half-hour (but, unlike her namesake, the dilluted toxin causes no permanent damage to her opponents).

Personality: Fiercely independent, a touch arrogant and maybe even a little over-serious, but still a very loyal friend and teammate to the other Dog Stars and geniunely concerned about the welfare of the innocents of the galaxy.

Physical description: Much like a full-grown Earth whippet except for her mostly black coat with red patches of fur on her paws and a couple of golden spots on her back.

Thanks, catfan1. Very much appreciated. Here's one very loosely based on the actual comics intended as a possible member of the 23rd century Dog Stars.

    Name: Air Dale

Species: Mostly Airedale Terrier, but has some other breeds mixed in there too (including trace amounts of Kryptonian canine) (male)

Abilities: Heavily dilluted Kryptonian blood gives Air Dale the powers of unaided flight and super-breath (though, the blood line is so dilluted that these are the only powers he DOES have [on the upside, however, the fact the blood line is THIS dilluted has the benefit of making Air Dale immune to Kryptonite and able to retain his flying ability and super-breath under a red sun]). Also, thanks to his training and experience as a space ranger well before signing on with the Dog Star Squadron, Air Dale is also a capable detective and tactician and is very good at paw-to-paw combat, possessing above average agility and reflexes even without using his flying ability.

Personality: Is usually serious, but not OVERLY so (i.e. he's not much for MAKING jokes, but he can TAKE a joke pretty well if it's harmless and in good tastes); Is also usually reasonably intelligent (though Starhound's more obscure historical references do still have a habit of whizzing over his head), very patient and quite able to keep a cool head in a high pressure situation, which is a combination that serves him well both on the Dog Stars and as one of Starhound's best off-duty friends (having known Tralfaz since his space ranger days, being that Tralfaz's brother Valiant was Air Dale's partner).

Description: Much like a standard Airedale Terrier, but with a clear-sky-blue-colored fur.

Descended from: One of Air Dale's more famous ancestors is Krypto himself (even though the blood line has been heavily thinned over a period of nearly two and a half centuries).

Number of Years In The Future: Roughly 250 human years.

I like the way you used the name from the old comics for your character, Comickook. I think Air Dale could be a good level-headed straight man for some of the other Dog Stars.

Here's another candidate for the future Dog Stars of the 23rd century

    Laser Labrador

Has the ability to generate waves of light as well as focused and powerful laser beams from his eyes. The ability to project weak beams of light is indigenous to dogs of his planet, but Laser Labrador has developed this to a much more powerful and fine degree. He can hit far away targets with a very fine beam of light. In addition to his laser abilities, he found that with practice he was able to create and project complicated holographic images and other less concentrated waves of light he uses to confuse his enemies.

Personality: As his abilities might suggest, Laser Labrador is perfectionist and detail-oriented, some would say almost to the point of being obsessive-compulsive. He is also capable of being somewhat impatient and sarcastic with his teammates, but they've learned not to take it personally. Despite his personality faults, he is quick to come to their aid and tries to be a team player. Laser Labrador is capable of effectiveness in battle although he has definite liabilities: tending to be excitable and lacking the cool head and patience of Air Dale. He was dubbed "Lazy Lab" by Fireball, a nickname he despises.

    Breed: a black labrador

Another good one, catfan1. Here's my latest contribution to the 23rd century Dog Stars:

    Name: Equalizer

Species: Mutant alien Saint Bernard (female)

Abilities: Can duplicate the natural abilities of any super-beings (the duplication is in proportion to her size, so if she's bigger than somebody she's copying the powers of, she gets a higher level of said power because of the size difference and, if she's copying the powers of somebdy who's bigger than HER, she gets a lower level of those powers ALSO because of the size difference) within a range of 100 yards (the biggest drawbacks to the power are the fact that it can only allow her to duplicate the powers of five beings at a time, the power can't duplicate any abilities granted by mechanical means [such as cybernetics or power rings], the power replication only lasts for fifteen minutes at a time, she can only use the duplication power once an hour and she can't duplicate powers from the same individual[s] twice within the same 24-hour period). Also, her villainous father, Master Mimic, is immune to her use of the power since he has the same powers as her on a double-strength scale); Also has a measure of natural super-strength equal to that of fifty ordinary full-grown Earth Saint Bernards her size (and she's big even by Saint Bernard standard), is deceptively quick and agile for her size and a considerable measure of skill in paw-to-hand or paw-to-paw combat.

Personality: Extremely brave, compassionate and honorable, but has self-esteem issues which drive her to work ten times harder than any of the other Dog Stars (this stems from the fact that her father, Master Mimic, is one of the worst super-villains in the universe [and one of the Dog Stars' most persistent enemies] and she feels her teammates don't trust her due to who her father is and, thus, works extra hard to EARN their trust and prove to them, and herself, that she's not like her father despite having inherited a portion of his powers [even though, truth be known, she's already earned the trust of her teammates at least 30 times over; she just doesn't see that even if THEY do]). Has a slight fondness for harmless pranks, but only focuses those pranks on OTHER pranksters (and, even then, only during VERY quiet periods].

Description: Looks like an Earth Saint Bernard except for being nine inches taller, having about 60 pounds more visible muscle and having a coat that's all white except for her paws and a couple of spots on her back [those are light silver])

Number of Years in the Future: Roughly 250 human years.

Here is the leader of the mid-23rd century version of the Dog Star Squadron. Her name comes from a character in the old Superboy-Krypto comics of the 1960s.

    Prophetic Pup
She is the leader who organizes the missions and runs the Dog Star space station. A mixed breed dog whose psychic powers include limited mind control over one or two other creatures in her immediate area, she is also able to use data gathered from her psychic abilities to calculate the possibility of future events, hence her name. However, her projections are based on the limited amount of psychic information available to her and are not infallible. She works closely with Air Dale who functions as a second-in-command and usually leads the team in action.

Personality: A firm, very much in control leader. She has a noticeably harsher command style than her distant ancestor, Brainy Barker. She probably has to be harsh on occasion to keep all the disparate personalities who make up the Dog Star team working together and under control. Beneath the stern demeanor, she is very sensitive and intelligent and has a sly sense of humor she displays on rare occasions.

Breed: She is a mixed breed dog with features that combine the characteristics of Afghan, Cocker Spaniel and Sheepdog. She is light brown with long hair similar to an Afghan and has the build of a regular Cocker Spaniel.

Well done, catfan1. Thanks for finally getting this up.

Here's a villain to add to the 23rd century Dog Stars' list of rogues. I kind of already alluded to him in my Equalizer file, actually.

    Name: Master Mimic

Species: Mutant alien Saint Bernard. (male)

Abilities/Equipment: Like his heroic daughter, Equalizer, Master Mimic possesses the ability to duplicate super-powers from any super-beings he wishes and, like Equalizer, the power-duplication IS in proportion to his size (though his power-copying range is expanded to 200 yards and can used to copy the powers of up to TEN super-beings at a time for up to a half-hour. Also, unlike his daughter, he CAN copy powers derived from mechanical means and the power-duplicating power CAN be used again after a half-hour [which is exactly how long the power-duplication lasts {even though he DOES have to wait twelve hours before he can copy the powers of somebody he has ALREADY copied the powers of}]); Master Mimic also possesses a measure of natural super-strength equal to that of a hundred ordinary Earth Saint Bernards his size (if you can call a Saint Bernard his size ordinary); Is also deceptively fast and agile for his size, and is a gifted criminal strategist as well as an expert in all manner of weapons (many of which he has rather ready access to) and many forms of unarmed combat.

Personality: To most, Master Mimic is extremely cunning, cruel, treacherous, greedy, egotistical and bad-tempered as well as being incredibly bold and stubborn, which is a combination that, mixed with his powers and skills, easily cements his well-earned reputation as one of the most feared space villains in the 23rd century. However, before he became known as Master Mimic, he was also once a surprisingly caring and devoted family dog (in fact, it was the tragic deaths of his wife and all of his pups except one [the one that would grow up to become Equalizer] that drove him to villainy in the first place). Out of memory of this, Equalizer is actually the only individual Master Mimic cares more about than himself. On the same token, he also immensely hates the Dog Star Squadron (whom he irrationally blames for taking his only surviving daughter from him), the hero team which his daughter is a member in very good standing. This actually leads to heavily mixed emotions whenever he battles the heroes (which is frequent).

Physical Description: Much like a regular Earth Saint Bernard, except that he, is about a foot-and-a-half taller than most Saint Bernards, has 120 pounds more visible muscle and has a mostly black coat of fur with golden patches on his paws and back.

Number of Years in the Future: Approximately 250 human years.
