This has apparently been out for a week or two but I just stumbled across it today and hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere: It's an interview with comic book writer Jesse Leon McCann (Animaniacs, Simpsons, Looney Tunes) who is working on the Krypto series for DC Comics.

    http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/pb/114926296262883.htm

    Sounds promising. Here's a quote:

Because it is set in the DC Universe, any and all things relative to Superman can-- and do -- happen. The science, outer space realities, crazy villains-- all are possible in KRYPTO THE SUPERDOG. In fact, in the first book, both Superman and the Joker make cameos. And-- like I always do when writing my scripts-- the story should appeal to older readers, too. Sort of like Warner Brothers' classic cartoons.

"Cartoon Network ROCKS America's culture right now. But it's cable. When I was a kid, I didn't have cable."

Heh, I wonder if the interviewer is watching the same network as I am. *is no longer really a fan of CN*

Aside from that, this comic sounds promising, although I hope kryptonite isn't beaten to death like it's been on the show. Also, it'd be funny if more DC villains amd heroes showed in the comic then in the actual show.

It's also neat that they get real writers to come and talk at schools. I hope stuff like that can get more kids interested in witing and reading again. Nice that kids know who Krypto is.

I haven't heard a date given yet but I'll be on the alert for it. I'm sure someone here will see the announcement and let us all know.

We Interupt this Program to bring you a special news BULLETIN!  I have just received confirmation from Matt, the webmaster at Legions of Gotham.  The release date for the Krypto 6-series comic will be September 20th.  Also, the cover art for the first issue is on this site as well.  My sincere thanks to Matt for this news.

That's some *very* nice cover art. I hope they make a lot of comics, like they did with the Superman and JLU series.

Yeah, it's a good sign that DC has some interest in keeping the Krypto property alive and, from all indications, the comic has the potential to be a very entertaining read. Of course, I'm still hoping maybe we'll eventually get more TV episodes, too.

A black and white rendering of the cover for Krypto #2 is now up at dccomics.com.

    quote:

It's Crisis for Krypto as he and Kevin travel to different dimensions! But will everyone they meet be just as friendly and helpful as the Super Pup himself?

Love that artwork. That one dog on the upper left looks almost like Dogwood. I wonder...

Interesting concept indeed.  I will have to print this out and take it over to my comics store tomorrow and let them see this.

Hello everyone.  I noticed it's been kind of quiet here on the forum this week (I guess with back to school and all other happenings).  I do bring some good news.  Now posted on the DC comics site is the third cover for the November issue of Krypto.  The link is as follows:

That particular cover looks rather weird to me, but I hope the actual story will be better. Man, it's going to be hard to wait for this comic!

Admittedly, I haven't bought many comics recently, but I can't wait to get this in a few weeks. Let's hope the mini-series lives up to its promise and maybe there will even be more issues eventually.

I checked and the comic shop nearest me is more than 50 miles away. I'll probably get my issues by mail order.

Hello my friends.  Casey and I send our regards.  Well, it's one week and counting until K-dog number 1 hits the newsstands.  To say my junior "partner" is anxious right now would be an understatement.  Hope all is well and we look forward to seeing more episodes soon.

    LADSONE AND CASEY TOO!
