First off, I have to thank Mammal_Mage for suggesting a seperate thread to discuss the idea of original characters based on classic Marvel heroes (or villains) and what pets they could have. Of course, since all these characters ARE based on Marvel characters, this is not intended for any sort of profit motive; strictly for a fun challenge.

Now, we should probably set up some sort of basic descriptions for both the Marvel-style heroes AND their pets:

Marvel-Style Hero (or Villain) (note: this is strictly for reference since, most likely, the animals will be the ones actually shown [])

    Character Name (Civilian Identity):

    Heroic (or Villainous) Identity:

    Abilities/Equipment:

    Origin:

    Personality:

Marvel Hero (or Villain) the Character is Based On:

    Hero (or Villain's) Pet

    Name:

    Species:

    Abilities/Equipment:

    Personality:

    Physical Description:

In fact, here's the first one (again, I have to thank Mammal_Mage for the inspiration):

    Human Character:

    Civilian Name: Harrison Henderson

    Hero Name: Commander Arthropod

Abilities/Equipment: Limited super-strength (can lift up to twenty tons with supreme effort); superhuman reflexes and agility (exactly 30 times peak human); can adhere to virtually any inverted solid object; highly sensitive danger sense (provides six-hundredths of a second worth of early warning concerning danger AND provides him with a full psychic awareness of his immediate surrounding during flare-ups); ability to shoot out organic webbing from his wrists (the strength and amount of the webbing depends on how good his physical health is); Gifted scientist.

Origin: Fascinated with spiders throughout his life, scientist Harrison Henderson began work bio-engineering a type of spider that combines the best abilities of ALL spider species (including the combined strength of all the spider-types). His efforts wielded some amount of success, but one of his most successful test spiders bit him one night and the spider's blood merged with his own, granting him the combined proportionate powers of every type of spider that the test spider had mixed in. Revelling in his newfound power at first, Harrison figured he could make some side bucks as a professional daredevil, but wore a special costume so he could use his powers anonymously. Unfortunately, the scientist grew gradually more arrogant as he got better with his powers. So arrogant, in fact, that he refused to act when a bank he was at was being robbed, even though he could have easily handled the robbers. Unfortunately, that same inaction cost him the life of his fiancee`, Jacquilyn Geavers, since those same bank robbers he allowed to escape ended up murdering her three nights later at a diamond exchange. Chasing down the crooks as Commander Arthropod (his costumed daredevil alter-ego), he caught the crooks, but recognized them and realized he was as much to blame for his fiancee`'s death as the crooks. Ever since then, Harrison has been mindful of the responsibilities that come with his powers and Commander Arthropod has switched gears from glorified stuntman to super-crime-fighter.

Personality: More than a little bit of a wisecracker, but also highly intelligent and just as highly responsible. The near-constant wisecracking is merely to annoy the bad guys off their game and keep their attention on HIM rather than innocents.

Marvel Character This Is Based on: Spider-Man

    Now his Pet:

    Name: Webbly the Arthro-Pooch

    Species: Labrador-retriever (all black)

Abilities: Limited super-strength (can lift up to five tons with supreme effort); Fifteen times peak-Labrador reflexes and agility; Ability to adhere to almost any inverted solid object; Danger sense capable of providing up to three-hundredths of a second margin of early-warning for unseen personal danger; Has a collar that can shoot artifical spider-webs when he applies exact pressure with one of his paws to the front of said collar.

Background: Webbly was the pet Labrador of Harrison Henderson and happened to be bit by a test spider different from the one that bit his master, but on the same night. This spider was not as far along on the bio-engineered abilities as the one that bit Harrison and, so the abilities were about half the proportionate level of his master's for the most part (the one exception being the actual physical strength) and DIDN'T include the organic web generating powers. However, the powers Webbly DID get, he enjoyed having (though he was a lot more humble about the powers than Harrison was at first), right up to when Harrison decided to convert his Commander Arthropod persona from a stuntman to a super-hero. At first, Harrison refused to have his pet tagging along because of how dangerous super-heroing was (even more dangerous than being a daredevil was). However, the dog's persistance ultimately won out and Webbly was provided a web-designed mask and a web-shooter collar that he could use as Arthro-Pooch.

Personality: Friendly and energetic (even more so than most labradors), but also VERY stubborn and mindful of the responsibilities that come with his powers.

Description: Much like any other good-sized all-black Lab, except that he wears a blue mask (with golden yellow spider-web type designs) that covers his entire face except his dog snout and ears (though the mask lens are one-way mirrors that allow him to see out without somebody else seeing IN) and the red (web-shooter) collar with the white spider-like emblem on the front when in action as Arthro-Pooch.

Not bad, Mammal_Mage. Thanks for stepping up to the plate (and thanks for the inspiration in the first place)

    Now, here's my next one:

    Character Name: Basil Greggory

    Hero Name: Miracle-Maker

Powers: Contains permanently internalized ion energy that gives him infinite stamina, immense strength (he can lift a maximum of 800 tons), near-invulnerability (the only things that has been proven to be able to readily hurt him are negatively-charged ions and magic), the ability to fly at hypersonic speed (top speed: 4800 miles per hour) and the power to emit very powerful optic ion energy lasers at will.

Origin: Basil Greggory was a British mercenary who was hired to act as a test subject for a mad scientists' experiments with ionic energy. The experiments infused Greggory with tremendous powers (enough to make him one of the most powerful beings in his universe), but, in the scant seconds of madness following the ionic energy infusion, the mercenary ended up destroying much of the scientist's equipment; which meant it would take many years before the scientist was able to recreate the experiment. However, this mercenary STILL had the power to be quite useful to the mad scientist, who hired him again; this time to pose as a new super-hero to gain the world's trust until he could systematically eliminate all the world's geniune super-heroes.

The first part of the plan worked great; as Miracle-Maker, he performed several heroic acts that brought the attention of the press, after which he started teaming with other heroes from time to time; working with several of them more than once as part of his ploy to gain their trust. Along the way, he saved a Border Collie from a bolt of lightning (but the lightning struck HIM while he was holding the collie and the resulting energy surge ended up copying Miracle-Maker's powers onto the canine). Of course, eventually, the mercenary started getting an attack of conscience (the public praise for Miracle-Maker combined with his occasional association with real heroes [AND the constant affection of that Border Collie who gained copies of his powers] was starting to get to him and he began to like playing hero a bit too much). Eventually, he severed ties with the mad scientist who gave him his powers and abandoned the second part of the plan entirely in favor of being a legitimate super-hero and even went on to become a full-fledged member of the Icons as well as the current boyfriend of the Golden Enchantress.

Personality: A bit moody, somewhat arrogant, a bit publicity hungry at times and certainly not above occasionaly charging reasonable fees for his heroic deeds (the only throwback he allows himself to his ruthless mercenary days and, even then, he only does this to rich people that he happens to dislike), but, when push comes to shove, he DOES have a decent heart deep down and legitimately cares about innocent people AND animals.

    Based On: Wonder Man.

    Hero Pet:

    Name: Champion the Miracle Dog

    Species: Border Collie.

Powers: Flight (top speed: 4800 miles per hour), ability to emit powerful laser-like beams of ion energy from her eyes, Super-strength (can lift a maximum of 200 tons), infinite stamina, near-invulnerability (the only things that have proven able to readily hurt her are negatively charged ions and magic), senses of hearing and smell that are 4800 times peak Border Collie.

Background: Champion was just your average female Border Collie until one night when she was trying to save a couple of sheep that got caught out in the middle of a lightning storm. She saved the sheep, but got caught out in the storm herself. Miracle-Maker saved her, but, in the process, one of the lightning bolts struck Miracle-Maker while he was holding her and she became infused with dog-sized versions of the hero's powers as well as greatly increased senses of hearing and smell. At first, she had trouble controlling the powers (which necessitated Miracle-Maker's taking her under his wing), but Miracle-Maker's training eventually solved that problem, after which she was determined to put her powers to good use as both Miracle-Maker's faithful partner and a super-heroine in her own right.

Personality: Very courageous, highly compassionate and extremely loyal to Miracle-Maker (and his Icons teammates [especially the Golden Enchantress]). Champion also has an immense sense of responsibility pertaining to her powers.

Description: Same as a normal Border Collie except for the constant dark purple glow around her body and eyes.

    Civilian Name: Nigel Macesbur

    Hero Name: Crimson Spook

Abilities/Equipment: All senses superhumanly acute except his sight (he's blind); "radar sense" that replaces his lost sight for the most part; extremely agile[ highly skilled fighter, possesses a great deal of knowledge about the law (both military and civilian); has a natural knack for gadgetry; employs a billy club that can be turned into a grapnel, spray out tear gas or shoot out a taser (all dependant on how the billy club is twisted); Costume contains cloaking technology that allows him to became virtually invisible to the naked eye or to any means of electronic detection until it is time for him to strike.

Origin: The son of a decorated war-hero soldier who was murdered by traitors right before his eyes when he was only six years old while his father was home on leave, Nigel Macesbur tried to escape into a nearby science lab so that he could stay alive long enough to call the military police to track down his father's murderers. Unfortunately, the killers saw him and knew they had to silence him, so they gave chase. After a respectable chase, they caught Nigel and, during a desperate struggle to escape before HE could be killed too, he knocked over a vast mulitude of chemicals that set the entire lab on fire. The traitors barely escaped the fire, convinced that the fire almost assuredly finished the kid.

The accidental stewpot of spilled chemicals, indeed, ALMOST DID kill Nigel, but he escaped from the fire, now permanently blind even though his remaining four senses were heightened to superhuman sharpness. Though disoriented at first, Nigel came under the tutelage of a mysterious man known only as Rod. Under Rod's training, Nigel Macesbur honed his mind and body to the peak of human perfection over the course of twenty years; growing up strong, agile, smart and fearless.

Studying both science and the law, Nigel became a lawyer, but that was merely a cover for his real mission; bringing the truly guilty to justice as a mysterious vigilante. Employing a multi-purpose billy club and a stealth suit (both of his own design), Nigel became known as the Crimson Spook (a name the crooks gave him since his radar sense didn't allow him to see the color of the material he was using for his stealth suit).

Personality: A bit of a smart mouth, but dead-serious about crime fighting. As Nigel Macesbur, he acts like an average, mild-mannered blind man who just happens to be a skilled attorney. As the Crimson Spook, he is a fearless, unrelenting fighter. In both identities, he holds a strong measure of concern for the innocent.

    Based on: Daredevil

Pet's Name: Sunspot the Fifth; aka Winged Justice

    Species: Peregrine (sp?) Falcon

Abilities: All senses heightened beyond peak species (even his eyesight); High-speed flight; Razor-sharp talons (though both of those are common for this species of bird); Ability to screech a powerful sonic attack.

Background: This bird's great-great-grandfather, Sunspot the First, knew Nigel Macesbur since he was a hatchling and, in fact, was in the lab the night of the accident that left Nigel blind. In fact, Sunspot the First was the one who disoriented Nigel's assailants enough to get them to release their grip on him, Sunspot the first ALSO got doused in the lab chemicals and came out of the accident with heightened senses (including, unlike Nigel, his eyesight) and the ability to unleash powerful sonic blasts from his screeches. These powers were passed on to each generation of Sunspot ever since, right up to the version that fights by the Crimson Spook's side (and occasionally on his own) as Winged Justice.

Personality: Very fierce, but also quite loyal to Nigel/Crimson Spook. Absolutely adores tracking down criminals and unleashing his speed, talons and sonic powers against said criminals.

Description: Looks like a normal Peregrine (sp?) Falcon save for his mostly golden yellow hue and his medium silver collar (fortunately, Sunspot never leaves Nigel's secret loft except when it's time to go into action as Winged Justice, and very few except for Nigel himself even know about the loft, which means that Sunspot can be seen with Crimson Spook without revealing his secret identity).

Thanks for the villain addition, Mammal_Mage. Here's my next character:

    Civilian Name: Douglas Vincelo

    Villainous Name: Juice Master

Powers: Can absorb almost unlimited amounts of electrical energy into his own body and convert the energy into hand-fired electrical blasts, limited flight, force field generation and controlling any electrically powered machine within his immediate area. The more electricity he absorbs, the longer the charge lasts (though he DOES have a definite weakness pertaining to water and certain materials that have a natural resistance to electricity [such as wood, plastic, rubber and glass] are, logically, resistant to his powers).

Origin: Douglas Vincelo was just your average (if somewhat rude and ill-tempered) power line worker until, one stormy night, he and his crew were busy fixing some wires when the wind and rain took their toll on him and he fell right into the path of a downed wire, absorbing such massive amounts of electrical power that the doctors agreed that it was nothing sort of a miracle that he was still alive.

Unfortunately, when Douglas discovered he had gained super-powers from the accident, his greed outweighed his conscience and he became a super-villain, using his electrical powers to commit every type of crime ranging from robbery and assault to attempted world conquest over the course of his super-criminal career as Juice Master. His principal nemesis is Commander Arthropod (who usually, through sheer wits and courage [though, occasionally, also with the help of fellow heroes], manages to find a way to defeat Juice Master despite the villain being technically more powerful than him).

Personality: Greedy, ill-tempered and gets progressively more determined and ambitious with each defeat.

    Based On: Electro

    Pet Name: Sparky

    Species: Rat

Powers: Absorbing almost unlimited amounts of electricity harmlessly into his own body and converting said energy into power-zaps, limited flight, force field generation, controlling electrically powered machines within his immediate area, super-speed, tracking others via their specific electro-static auras, using electromagnetism to pin individuals to the ground or ceiling by the iron in their blood and travelling through electrical wires. The more power he absorbs, the longer his powers last (though he DOES have the same weaknesses as Juice Master)

Background: Once a lab rat subjected by scientists to a series of experiments using the DNA of Douglas Vincelo (aka Juice Master) as part of an effort to find a solution to the city's energy problem. The DNA experiments gave the rat the same powers as Juice Master, but the rat escaped before he could be contained. Eventually, he met up with the villain he got his powers from (the rat was almost irresistably drawn to Juice Master's electrical frequency), who named the rat Sparky (hey, nobody accused Juice Master of being imaginative) and began training the rat to help him commit crimes.

Personality: Sneaky, greedy and ill-tempered, but also slightly more imaginative than Juice Master (which is how he can get more uses out of his own electrical powers). He also has an unquestioning loyalty to Juice Master and, has, in fact, played a role in engineering more than one of Juice Master's many escapes from prison.

Description: Same as an average rat except that his fur has a slightly bluish tint (from continuous uses of his electrical powers) and he wears a collar with a medium blue lightning bolt on the front.

Okay? Next character. (and, though Mammal_Mage is definitely allowed, I would like to ask if anybody else is interested in tackling this too [])

    civilian name: ivon fist

    villian name: king pain

abilities: none, he's just a regular human.

origin: he was the son of a famous gangster. he went to jail as a teenager because he was in a cross fire between his father's gang and the police. when he was releast from jail, he erased all of his criminal records and started a business. everyone thinks he's a nice guy, but he's really the biggest gangster in new york, who owns a state of the art science lab. he's comander arthropod's and the crimson spook's arch-nemisis.

    personalty: greedy, swove, and sinister.

    based on: the king pin

    pet: adonus

    species: bearded dragon

abilities: none, just a regular lizard.

origin: he's king pain's pet. though he dislikes him, he wouldn't careless what webbly is up to. he mostly uses his masters lab equipment for his own selfish gain(though they all back fire on him).

personalty: selfish, cunning, and a little dim.

physical discription: a small brown lizard.

since the king pin was spiderman's lex luthor, why not give webbly his own ignasus.

Name(s): Allistair Angleson, Bettina Biggstuff-Angleson, Frederick Stryker, Joseph Biggstuff.

Hero Names: Sir Tremendous, Madame Poltergeist, the Stone Dragon and the Living Comet aka the Tremendous Quartet

Abilities: Sir Tremendous can stretch any and/or all part of his body to up to 600 feet (and can use this power to increase his resistance to impact attacks, enter and exit certain areas through any sized opening or morph his body into a variety of shape) and possesses a superhuman intellect, the ability to read the minds of up to four other people at a time within his immediate area AND see up to two full minutes into the future at a time. He also possesses an absolute mastery of all sciences, knows how to speak more than 50 languages fluently (including at least two dozen extra-terrestrial languages) and has a photographic memory.

Madame Poltergeist can turn herself and other people and objects invisible and/or intangible at will, generate incredibly strong invisible force fields around herself and/or others, teleport herself and up to seven others a maximum distance of sixteen miles at a time and create ultra-realistic illusions reflecting 120 times magnified versions of the worst fears of up to four opponents at a time.

The Stone Dragon has a body made entirely of super-charged living rock (except for the massive wings on the back) and in addition to being strong enough to lift a maximum of 1200 tons (making him one of the strongest heroes on his world [not THE strongest, admittedly, but still quite comfortably among the top five]) and very near-indestructible, also has extremely strong lungs that can allow him to either hold his breath for up to two hours at a time or exhale double-hurricane-strength gusts of wind. The wings on his back are strong enough to allow him to fly at a top speed of 600 miles per hour.

The Living Comet can fly at a top speed of 9600 miles per hour, possesses 9600 times peak human reflexes, can shoot powerful fireballs from his hands, fire powerful freeze beams from his eyes and surround himself with a heat aura capable for incinerating almost any projectile weapon that gets within six inches of him (though unlike Madame Poltergeist's force fields, these heat auras are only good against projectile weapons and he can only generate one around himself)

Origin: Allistair Angleson led a group of astronauts consisting of his wife Bettina, best friend Frederick and brother-in-law Joseph into space to investigate some cosmic anomalies with his experimental faster-than-light rocket ship. Though the ship's shields were able to withstand the energy discharges created by most of the anomalies, they were ultimately changed by the hand of fate once they actually reached the ship where the anomalies were originating from in the first place. Though protected from the worst of the energy discharges from the alien ship by their specially made space suits, all of them still ended up taking enough of a dose to be transformed forever by the time they were able to fix the problem.

Allistair gained the power of super-elasticity and had his already super-genius intellect increased (with his boosted brain providing limited psychic abilities) due to his dose of the alien energies. Bettina gained invisibility, intangibility, teleportation, force field generation and a fear-based illusion power as a result of her exposure. Frederick was transformed into a super-powerful winged rock monster by his dose of alien energy. Joseph gained hypersonic flying speed, hyper-reflexes and limited heat and cold powers from his dose of extra-terrestrial power.

Allistair promised Frederick he would try to find a way to cure him (as well as the others if they ever wanted it), but commented that there was a definite responsibility to go with their powers in the meantime. After some group discussion, the four of them vowed to stick together and employ their combined powers to help humanity as a team. Allistair, Bettina, Frederick and Joseph took the names of Sir Tremendous, Madame Poltergeist, the Stone Dragon and the Living Comet respectively and became collectively known as the Tremendous Quartet.

Personality: Allistair is an incredibly stubborn and somewhat absent-minded, scientist who often gets very wrapped up in his own experiments; even to the point of unintentionally almost ignoring the most important people in his life. Despite this, however, Allistair IS actually a pretty kind-hearted man.

Bettina might get annoyed at times with Allistair's overly developed work ethic, but she still cares immensely about him and faithfully supports him in the long run; even if she DOES get stuck playing referee between Frederick and Joseph pretty often.

Frederick comes off as a bit crude and ill-tempered at first and is certainly smart-mouthed, but he is capable of being surprisingly tender and warm-hearted, even if he and Joseph can't resist playing jokes on each other and he DOES like pounding on the bad guys a bit TOO much.

Joseph is definite the glory-seeking, hot-headed womanizer of the group, but even he is aware of the responsibilities that come with the powers and knows how to be serious when there's bad guys to battle and/or innocent lives to save. Of course, he and Frederick DO have that rather definite on-going prank war.

Based On: Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, the Thing and the Human Torch aka the Fantastic Four.

Pet Name: Estrella (Arabic for "star") aka Omnicat

    Species: White Persian Cat (female)

Powers: Hyper-intelligence; Personal invisibility; Force Field generation; Super-strength that allows her to lift a maximum of 150 tons; Ability to fly at a top speed of 9600 miles per hour unaided; 9600 times peak feline reflexes; Ability to shoot powerful fireballs from her front paws; Power to emit powerful freeze beams from her eyes.

Background: Estrella was once just an ordinary housecat living with Allistair and Bettina Angleson until shortly after her providers, Frederick Stryker and Bettina's brother Joseph Biggstuff all returned from the mission that had turned them into the Tremendous Quartet. While roaming the streets, she saw Professor Angleson's rocket returning nearby and curiously investigated. Greeting her owners and the others literally immediately following their return to Earth, Estrella had traces of extra-terrestrial energy from all four of them. Though she did not enough residual energy traces to duplicate ALL the combined powers of the Tremendous Quartet, Estrella DID manage to gain hyper-intelligence, invisibilty (though this only works on herself and she can't turn intangible), force-field generation, super-strength (though to a lesser degree than the Stone Dragon, given her size), hypersonic flight, seriously amped-up reflexes, fireball throwing and optic freeze beams. Though the powers made her cocky at first, Estrella eventually learned to be a little more responsible with them after she very nearly killed some dogs that were threatening a male cat she had her eye on at the time. Since then, she's been trying to be the best heroine she could be (both alongside the Tremendous Quartet and on her own) while still trying to work in time for a love life

Personality: Natural feline curiosity; Cocky, a bit of a show-boater and more than a little flirtatious when it comes to decent-looking male cats, but is still a pretty good cat deep down and, when push comes to shove, she'll always help her friends AND her providers.

Description: Same as your average well-groomed, well-cared- for white-furred female Persian cat, but with an emerald green collar, a lightning bolt style electric blue "'TQ'" emblem on her collar AND a golden yellow cape.

    Name: Reginald Harkness

    Hero Name: Cyber-Knight

Powers/Equipment: Scientific/engineering genius; Artifical heart of an advanced design that not only keeps him alive but also provides enough energy to power all of his armor's numerous functions; Full-body armored suit is made out a super-tough material capable of withstanding any physical assualt short of and including two tons of dynamite at blast point range and is powered by the special battery in his artifical heart; Heel jets allow for a maximum speed flight of 4800 miles per hour; Strength augmenting exoskeleton can up his strength enough to allow him to lift a maximum of 200 tons at peak operating capacities and increase his reflexes to 4800 times peak human; Wrist lasers are powerful enough, at full capacity, to burn, metal or cut through twenty feet of tempered steel in one minute; Hypersonic blasters built into his palms; Built-in sensory enhancing equipment in the armor augment his eyesight and hearing to 4800 times peak human; Built-in super-stealth technology can turn him invisible to the unaided eye, radar AND sonar; Chest plate contains a holographic projector that can create ultra-realistic illusions of anything he wishes to; Built-in four hour air supply that allows him to operate in space or underwater for extended periods.

Origin: Reginald Harkness was not a kid who accepted defeat; somebody who could always overcome adversity with science. Though he was born poor, he was blessed with a brilliant mind and an incredible work ethic that allowed him to cook up various inventions out of common, household items. The patents from the inventions allowed him to climb his way up to become a billionaire by his early twenties. When he found out that he was diagnosed with heart disease AND he was being framed for a series of serious crimes, he used his scientific skills to solve both problems at once; creating the most advanced artifical heart to date.... complete with a built-in super-efficent energy source that could keep him alive for 120 years AND power a suit of super-high-tech armor.... armor he would use as a disguise to investigate the crimes he was being charged with and track down the real culprits. Eventually, he DID succeed in tracking down the real culprits of the crimes he was being accused of, but the effort he went to made him aware of numerous other injustices in the world... injustices he would vow to defend the Earth against as the Cyber-Knight.

Personality: Extremely intelligent, a natural born engineer and an incredibly hard worker, but also has a little bit of a playboy streak in him and he's also a recovering alcoholic (the drinking was the reason for his heart disease). He also tends to be extremely stubborn about the courses of action he takes. In spite of this, however, he IS an honest businessman who geniunely cares a lot about the general public (enough to regularly fight on their behalf as the Cyber-Knight).

    Based On: Iron Man.

    Pet: Wellington aka Cyber-Rabbit.

    Species: Rabbit.

Powers: Cybernetic enhancements in his legs that allow him to lift a maximum of six tons, out-kick a Kansas mule, move at a top speed of 300 miles per hour, and leap up to 150 feet in a single bound; Eyes and ears are cybernetically augmented to 600 times peak rabbit; Lasers built into the wrist areas of his front paws can burn, cut or melt through six inch thick steel in a single minute; Hypersonic blasters built into the palm areas of his front paws.

Background: Wellington was just your standard, ordinary white rabbit (save in attitude; more later) when he was accidentally very nearly run over by some crooks that were flying from Cyber-Knight (aka Reginald Harkness). The vehicle missed the rabbit, but the tree the vehicle DID hit fell right on the rabbit. Cyber-Knight easily defeated the crooks and noticed the poor rabbit under the fallen tree, looking over the rabbit, the hero learned the rabbit was still alive (though his legs, eyes and ears were damaged beyond repair) Working fast, Reginald replaced the rabbit's damaged body parts with bionic replacements which he began training the rabbit in the use of. Since then, Wellington has been a faithful pet (though he prefers being called a "partner") to Reginald and, as Cyber-Rabbit, a true hero to the animal kingdom.

Personality: Smart-alecky, quick-witted and strong-willed, but has a pretty good heart deep down. Has a soft spot for kids and animals in trouble is very eager to use his unconquerable spirit, razor-sharp wits, and mechanized might to knock the bad guys down a few pegs.

Looks: Much like a normal white rabbit save for his cybernetic parts, which are covered by artifical fur except when he's in action as Cyber-Rabbit.

Sorry. Couldn't resist thinking of, essentially, a combination of Bugs Bunny and TT's Cyborg. For some reason, the thought just kept nagging at me.

Fair enough, Mammal_Mage. You're right. Coming up with civilian names IS tough. Perhaps we can make that strictly optional from here on in. I don't mind.

    Anyway,

    Name: Anton Von Armageddon

    Villain Name: Emperor Armageddon

Abilities/Equipment: Superhuman intelligence (the only one on his world, in fact, who coud be truly be considered an intellectual equal to the Tremendous Quartet's Allistair [Sir Tremendous]Angleson); Master scientist; Master planner; Speaks more than 50 languages fluently (including at least two dozen extra-terrestrial languages); Has some mystical skill (this allows him to, with supreme concentration, transfer his life essence and soul into another body, levitate items up to four tons or fire off bolts of pure mystic energy from his hands); Wears a full-body suit of armor that includes a powerful, but incredibly flexible, exoskeleton capable to increasing his strength, reflexes and agility to superhuman levels (he can lift a maximum of 60 tons and has 90 times peak human agility and reflexes while he's wearing the armor), high-powered heel jets that allow him fly at speeds up to 12, 000 miles per hour, a force field capable of allowing him to withstand several full-strength hits from the Stone Dragon COMBINED WITH several full-power blasts from the Living Comet, an entire built-in arsenal of weapons (including index-finger-mounted portable super-lasers, wrist-mounted freeze guns, palm-mounted sonic blasters and shoulder-mounted hyper-gravity guns), "phase-cloak-technology" that allows him to turn invisible (to the naked eye as well as to any means of electronic detection) AND intangible for indetermined periods of time AND holographic decoy projector that can create up to ten illusionary copies of himself scattered within a range of 300 feet; Has an army of robotic duplicates of himself programmed with all of his memories and personality as well as all the powers of his special armor; Countless other super-high-tech tools

Origin: Once an improvished child born to unjustly persecuted gypsy folk in Grevinnia, Anton Von Armaggedon strived for something better for himself. After the death of his mother, Anton began training himself in both magic AND science. His natural intellect made mastering science pretty easy for him and, in fact, his intellect got him noticed by a scout from a major university (the same university that was the alma matter of Allistair Angleson [the man who would become Sir Tremendous], in fact). Unfortunately, a bit of unpleasantness concerning an experimental portal explosion got Anton ejected from that same university. After years living with some mystic monks, Anton proceeded to overthrow the leadership of his home country of Grevinnia and take over for himself, using his technological skill to immensely improve the quality of live of the people under his rule; though those same people are very cautious not to anger their ruler. Soon after he soldified his reign over his native land, Anton, or Emperor Armaggedon now, found out about the special mission that created the Tremendous Quartet (led by Allistair Angleson, the former schoolmate he erroneously blamed for the explosion that got him expelled). And Emperor Armageddon has been the Tremendous Quartet's most persistent and dangerous enemy ever since.

Personality: Incredibly intelligent, but has an ego to match; Absolutely obsessed with getting the better of the Tremendous Quartet; Geniunely believes himself to be in the right as he tries to conquer the world time and again, reasoning that a world under his rule would be devoid of crime, war, illness and famine; Strangely honorable man who never directly lies (even though he DOES routinely do double-crosses that don't technically count as lies) and always keeps his word when he makes promises.

    Based On: Doctor Doom

    Pet Name: Nemesis.

    Species: Giant Griffin. (female)

Powers: Considerable proportionate strength (even by griffin standards), powerful wings for flight, and extremely sharp claws as well as the ability to emit optic beams capable of turning targets into solid stone; Ability to breathe either fire or ice.

Background: A mutant even by griffin standards, the giant griffin that would come to be known as Nemesis was not only bigger than a lot of griffins, but also had the powers of a gorgon (albeit CONTROLLED versions of a gorgon's power) plus both flame breath AND ice breath. During a battle with the Tremendous Quartet (this one was a time/dimension travel adventure to ancient Greece), Emperor Armageddon came across this powerful animal and eventually succeeded in taming her for use against his enemies. Even though the Tremendous Quartet had still defeated him (just barely), Emperor Armaggedon still returned to the present with this monstrous pet and named her Nemesis after the Greek goddess of revenge.

Personality: Cunning, fearless and savage but slavishly loyal to Emperor Armaggedon.

Desciption: Much like a standard Greek myth Griffin, except for being a staggering 100 feet tall standing up. She also wear a dark silver spiked collar.

    Name: Georgette Starling

    Hero Name: Feline Queen

Powers: Can cause up to ten minutes worth of VERY bad luck to any four enemies at a time within a range of 80 feet at will (though she can only use the power four times every half-hour and she can't use it on the same person twice in that same period); Has a telepathic link with all cats within her immediate area; Twenty times peak human strength, agility, reflexes and senses. Gloves each contain artifical, but super-sharp retractable claws as well as a built-in sleep gas sprayer and auto-retractable grapnel.

Origin: Georgette Starling was just a rich, gorgeous, well-bred and basically bored female socialite/thrill seeker when she, during one of her regular trips around the globe, encountered some thieves holding up an Egyptologist that uncovered an alledged mystic relic. During a moment of conscience, Georgette tried to stop the thieves and save the Egyptologist. She succeeded, but, in the process, got smashed across the head by the artifact the thieves were trying to steal. After a few hours in the hospital, it was determined that Georgette was quite capable of leaving the hospital under her own power as nothing was physically wrong with her. Within days of leaving the hospital, however, Georgette ended up discovering that her senses, strength, speed and agility were all greatly augmented and she had gained some sort of bad luck powers AND a telepathic link with all cats within a range of a quarter-mile. It didn't take long to figure out that the statue that was broken over her head must have contained mystic energies that were transferred to her when she got nailed with said statue.

Devising a VERY flattering and form-fitting feline-themed costume, Georgette Starling started prowling the night as the Feline Queen. Starting out as a thrill-seeking jewel thief, the Feline Queen ended up developing a strong attraction to the super-hero known as Commander Arthropod which led to a variety of meetings between the two; the vast majority of which were more flirtatious than hostile. Ultimately, her ever-growing affections for Commander Arthropod won out and the Feline Queen reformed, turning her powers to good use as a super-heroine (kayoing super-villains providing her with more than enough thrills while also doing a public service) and, specfically, as Commander Arthropod's girlfriend and sometimes-crime-fighting partner (though she does just as well as a solo operator).

Personality: Pretty much a thrill-seeker that sees taking down super-villains as the ultimate rush, but she is also extremely intelligent and capable of being QUITE seductive. A bit stuck-up at first, but a very loyal friend once she warms up to you (though, as far as romances go, she's almost sickeningly devoted to Commander Arthropod)

    Based On: Black Cat

    Pet's Name: Bast

    Species: Siamese cat.

Abilities: All standard physical cat abilities (agility, reflexes, strength, endurance, senses and retractable claws) twenty times magnified (in comparison to a normal Siamese cat) mixed with her mistress's telepathic link with cats (other cats in Bast's case) and bad luck powers.

Background: Bast was the pet of Georgette Starling at the time of the incident that gave the socialite her Feline Queen powers and via frequent contact with her during the period when her powers were just developing, Bast got a trace of the mystic energy too. When her OWN powers started developing, Bast couldn't resist accompanying Georgette night after night when she adopted the Feline Queen role. At first, Bast's relationship with Webbly could be described as antangonistic at best, but as they gradually developed a respect for each other, Bast and Webbly actually ended up becoming friends (though, unlike their owners, nothing more than that) and Bast now operates as primarily either the Feline Queen's crime-fighting partner or as Webbly's unofficial sometimes-ally (she might be willing to accept herself as an equal partner, but NOT a sidekick).

Personality: Devious, quick-witted and more than a little arrogant, but still capable of being fairly friendly and quite loyal once you get on her good graces.

Description: Much like a regular Siamese cat except for her diamond studded gold collar and the cat-sized Egyptian cat goddess head dress she usually wears.

    pet: belle

abilities: can temperarly copy the powers and personality traits of anyone she touches.(though, it has to be through her nose, paws, or mouth. for some reason, it dosen't go through her fur)

Sorry I took a while, but I was having a hard time thinking of another one. I just got this inspiration a little while ago.

    Name: Derek Polarius South

    Villain Name: Messiah

Powers: Absolutely mastery over the Earth's electromagnetic field. With extreme concentration, he can make his power precise enough to twist the iron in the blood of an entire army simulataneously or wide-spread enough to manipulate gravity or the tides. He can use this power in a variety of manners, such as, in addition to the uses mentioned earlier, flight, lifting massive loads of any material that can be affected by magnetism, attracting or repelling any weapons or armor that can be affected by magnetism or using a personal force field to deflect many different types of attacks.

Origin: Born during the dark days of the second World War, Derek was forced to watch helplessly as his entire family was brutually murdered by Nazi spies when he was but a child. Only his JUST dawning powers (fueled by righteous rage, but still taking a while to come to the surface) saved him from the same fate as his parents and brother... and allowed him to exact his revenge right after they finished killing that brother. However, the incident left Derek incredibly bitter and reluctant to accept anybody as a friend, for fear that they might end up like his family. The only one he ever DID accept as a friend was Professor Charles Zypher, an extremely idealistic man, who like himself, had an inborn mutant power that made him among the most powerful of that world.

The two had the same dream too; a world where mutants could life free of unjust persecution. However, their methods of obtaining that goal were the biggest thing that seperated them (Charles opted for the more peaceful methods AND using his powers to help ALL humanity, Derek opted to use his powers to conquer the globe and FORCE peace). Charles and Derek (or Professor Z and Messiah as they would be known as) ended up becoming arch-enemies due to their vastly conflicting methods, but Charles, out of respect for their former friendship, has tried many times to try to reason with Derek so that their issues could be resolved without one of them or the other getting killed.

Despite Charles's continued efforts however, Derek (aka Messiah) remains as determined as ever and one of the Z-Men's most unrelenting foes.

Personality: Charismatic and highly intelligent; A natural-born leader, but very cold and angry with the world; Fearless, cunning and obsessed with bringing peace to the world for his kind by any means necessary.

    Based on: Magneto.

    Pet's Name: Dynamo

    Species: Grey squirrel.

Powers: Incredible intelligence, super-strength, super-speed and the ability to generate large amounts of electricity from his paws. Also ages at the same rate as a normal human being.

Background: This squirrel was a mutant among its own species, being born with exceptional intelligence and a measure of speed greater than that of most normal squirrels (his super-strength and electiricity shooting power developed in his adolescence as did his greatly slowed down aging process). During an effort to fight off some hungry birds and some hungry cat, the squirrel made the acquaintance of the super-powered mutant extremist known as Messiah. Taking the squirrel under his wing, the mutant named him Dynamo and began raising and training him.

Personality: Basically a squirrel version of his master (charismatic and highly intelligent but cold and angry, fearless, cunning and obsessed), but also has an unyielding loyalty to Messiah mixed in there.

Description: Much like a normal grey squirrel, but with a dark purple squirrel-sized cape and helmet added to the look.

Congrats on the 300th post, Mammal_Mage. Anyway, here's my next idea:

    Civilian Name: Roger Irones

    Hero Name: Shining Eagle

Abilities: Ten times peak human strength, speed, agility, endurance and senses; Master of all forms of unarmed combat; Gifted tactian; A virtually indestructible shield that he can throw like a boomerang with fearsome accuracy.

Origin: Roger Irones was once a feverently patriotic, but physically frail black man who tried to volunteer for military service more than a full year BEFORE the attack on Pearl Harbor. Though initially rejected, Roger still noticed some hoods trying to rob a three-star general on his way out and did his best to stop the hoods despite his physical fraility. Thanks to his quick wits and sheer determination, he succeeded and, though he still wouldn't be let into the service officially, the grateful general still gave Roger his thanks. A few days later, Roger received a mysterious telegram requesting his presence at a vacant alley at ten-thirty p.m. where he was to find another message under a brick that the telegram only provided the subtlest clues for. That message would provide further instructions.

Upon arriving, Roger began looking for the brick based on what part of the clue he could get and eventually managed to find the brick he was looking for. All that was on the note was "' Look Down'". As he did, Roger found himself being lowered via hydraulic platform to a top secret underground military lab (the area he WAS originally had been sealed off by a high-grade reinforced steel covering disguised as a normal chunk of concrete. Roger was amazed to see the general who he helped out just a few days earlier, who explained that Roger was selected to be a test subject for a top secret formula that would come to be known as "the Sentinel's Serum" as a reward to a truly brave and resourceful individual. After some preparation work, the head scientist injected Roger with the formula, which transformed him into a physically perfected specimen. In fact, the formula even augmented Roger's physical prowess to literally superhuman levels. Unfortunately, Nazi spies that were cleverly positioned in the inside ended up murdering the head scientist and destroying the only copy of the formula. Roger managed to capture the spies before they could do any further harm, but it didn't alter the fact that HE was now going to be the only recipent of "the Sentinel Serum". After merely months of training, Roger had mastered all forms of unarmed combat and was provided with a virtually indestructible shield that he would carrying as the Shining Eagle; the living symbol of America's ideals. For four long years, the Shining Eagle had faithfully defended America both overseas and on the homefront from all manner of Axis soldiers, fifth columnists, gangsters and super-villains, until a Nazi scientist unleashed a deadly robot on the Allied leaders toward the very closing days of the war. The Shining Eagle defeated the robot with a lot of planning and a lot of luck, but when he tried to track down the robot's creator, he ended up getting caught in a plane explosion and frozen in Arctic ice for 50 long years before being found and rescued by Commander Arthropod, Cyber-Knight, Master Stormbringer, Massive Guy, Madame Bug and Lady Kluh; the founding six members of the hero team known as the Icons. Out of gratitude, the Shining Eagle has been a very faithful and highly valued member of that group ever since.

Personality: Quick-witted; courageous; highly idealistic; feverently patriotic; highly determined to live up to the iconic image he has grown to be; Extremely loyal to his friends and allies.

Based On: Captain America (though there IS a very subtle trace of Luke Cage aka Power Man in there too [not much, but a subtle trace])

Pet's Name: Sentinel. (actually, in all honesty, he's less of a pet than a sometimes animal partner)

    Species: Bald Eagle (male).

Powers: 100 times greater than normal strength, speed, agility, endurance and senses; Can shoot powerful optic lasers at will.

Background: Sentinel first came into contact with the Shining Eagle when the hero was tracking a mad scientist through a national park. During the hero's battle with the fiend, the eagle's mate and eggs were endangered and the avian flew to his family's aid. Breaking off the fight to help that family of eagles, the Shining Eagle got sucker zapped and captured and the eagle that was trying to protect his family got captured too.

When they woke up, Shining Eagle found himself in extremely strong restraints and saw that the eagle was being kept in a cage that was being slowly irradiated deliberately by the cruel scientist. The scientist arrogantly thanked Shining Eagle for providing a sample of the mysterious "Sentinel's Serum" for him to experiment with. Unfortunately for the scientist, the eagle's mate crashed in and took him be surprise. In his efforts to blast the female eagle, the madman freed the Shining Eagle and the hero worked of freeing the trapped eagle while also disarming the mad scientist before he could have finally got the male eagle's mate.

Thanks to the radiation, the eagle was slowly, but hope was not yet lost. Shining Eagle looked at the lab table and saw a beaker full of an unknown formula. Taking a desperate gamble, the hero injected the dying bird with the formula, figuring it might be the only way to save the live of that eagle. The hero's hunch paid off. It WAS a sample of the "Sentinel's Serum" in his own blood. Somehow, the formula mixed with the radiation to save the eagle's life and, more than that, the formula merged with the radiation increased the eagle's physical prowess a hundredfold and even provided him with laser vision. Though grateful for the Shining Eagle's assistance, the male eagle insisted that his place was with his mate and eggs, and with this entire area in general (writing out his explanation on a nearby wall with his new laser vision). The hero couldn't fault that eagle for his family devotion, but said he'd be back to check up on Sentinel (as he would dub the eagle) and his family ever so often and would gladly work with him any time a mission brings him to this area.

Personality: Very courageous; Highly loyal; Immensely proud.

Description: Looks exactly like a regular bald eagle, actually.
