  • They could've done better, but good none the less. But, the storyline isn't exactly my favorite...

This is one of those classic storylines where the hero gets amnesia and forgets who they are, but then remembers in the end. This is that...with a Superdog twist! After going to find the Downtown Dogs to lecture them for digging up a bed of flowers to impress their new girl in the group, Rosie, he gets exposed to red kryptonite, which he accidentally dug up while trying to trap Mutsy and his group. With the opportunity at hand, Mutsy has his chance to make Krypto part of the group, but Rosie protests against it. After helping them with different tasks, he slowly starts to remember who he is, and questions everything he knows. Rosie seems to be a good spotlight in this episode, but the main focus is of course around Krypto. To summarize the end, he figures out who he is, sends the Downtown Dogs to the Animal Shelter, Kevin's reunited with him, Rosie gets a home, easy as that.

This shows Krypto's will to do the right thing, even when he doesn't have a clue what's happening. The big issue I had here is two parts; why'd they have to use red kryptonite, and why'd they have to use the amnesia storyline? Kryptonite seems overly used in the Superman series, especially in Krypto the Superdog. Sure, they add the twist of red kryptonite, but it ends up being inevitably same in the end. This story also uses a cliched plot, which I felt actually deserved to be a 22-minute episode, so basically a two-parter. I still loved this, so I'll give it a 9.6/10moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • In all of the other episodes, the effects of the Red Kryptonite wear off after 24 hours. However, in this one it's pretty clear that it doesn't. Yet, the effects wear off when Krypto hears his name "Superdog".

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Krypto: Wow! (Uses his Superbreath) Even my lungs have muscles!

    • Streaky: Hey Kevin, where's K-dog?
Kevin: Krypto went to find the Downtown Dogs, and never came back! I'm worried about him.
Streaky: The Downtown Dogs? Don't you worry about them! I'll do this! (Uses karate moves) And this! (Accidentally flies into the ground) I meant to do that!

    • Krypto: Rosie? What have you done with her?
Mutsy: Why don't you do what I say, and maybe I'll tell you.
Krypto: How about you tell me anyway?!
      (Krypto snarls and chases them.)

    • Mutsy: Hey, I'm the brains of this group!
Krypto: I have my own brain, Mutsy.

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • This episode has alot of simularities to the movie, "Lady and the Tramp". Both featured a pet dog and a stray dog. Not only that, Krypto was grey(like the Tramp), and Rosie looks alot like Lady.
