This was the best episode of season one of K-Ville by a long stretch. It's been a pretty strange first season of this New Orleans cop drama thus far. Some of the episodes have been good, some not so good, but all, up until now, have seemed to lack identity. But 'Ride Along' showed what good writing, and a bit of Orleans flair can do. Boulet and Cobb are assigned to look after a reporter from on one of the big national papers. As with all of these types of stories there's scpticism on both sides, but what I liked about this particular story line is that there's no bond formed between the reporter and the cops (as is usually the case in situations like this), in fact it's the reporter and her papers voracious appetite for a story that ends up getting a man killed. While I think the demonising of journalists is a touch over the top it works really well within this plot and adds to the tension and subsequent bitter sweet ending to the episode. There's no gloss, just the grim reality of life in New Orleans. Top effort!
