L. A. Doctors

Show Summary

L.A. Doctors is a professional, well-made medical drama about a trio of successful Los Angeles physicians, Roger Cattan, Tim Lonner and Evan Newman. They all care for their patients and want to help them as best as possible. But in order to do so, they have to turn their back on the HMO's corporate red tape and practice the kind of medicine where the patients - not the money - matter more. Together, they put their careers on the line and open their own practice to save patients and give them the treatment they deserve. The three friends join forces with beatiful gynaecologist Sarah Church and they often bend both law and order in their quest to cure both sickness and soul.

The series focuses on these four doctors as well as their families and patients. All the leading actors deliver solid performances: Ken Olin as Roger Cattan, Matt Craven as Tim Lonner, Rick Roberts as Evan Newman and Sheryl Lee as Sarah Church. The recurring characters include Deirdre O'Connell as sympathetic nurse Suzanne Blum, and Melora Walters as the loyal and hard-working but somewhat troubled secretary Felicity.

L.A. Doctors aired Mondays, 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. on CBS. Featuring some very well-written storylines and impressive acting, it was a very acclaimed series. In 1999 it won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Television New Dramatic Series. It was also nominated for several other awards, including a 1999 TV Guide Award nomination for Favorite New Series. However, L.A. Doctors was a short-lived show. The show struggled with the ratings and although many TV series do so during its first season, CBS decided not to give L.A. Doctors a chance and cancelled it after its first season. It will be sorely missed among all us fans.moreless

ummmmm...(again)....a REALLY good show! Why did they stop this show?? It has not been on since 1999 and I STILL think about it! Robin Williams did a spectacular job as a self-isolated man with a major deformity....and the finale with the helicopter!!.....oh gosh, this show was awesome! What happened? We never had an answer as to why this show was cancelled. Other than the occasional \"guest appearance\" by Whoopie Goldberg, the cast was excellent. A sort of Pre-Nip/Tuck without the naughtiness of Christian Troy. Come on.....bring it back!moreless
