Episode Summary

EDIT
When Nikita is sent to investigate a bartender at a posh club who may be a terrorist contact, he responds to her questioning by leaping from the 65th floor window to his death. A search of his apartment turns up a strange helmet-like device, which Section later discovers is used for brainwashing. Unfortunately, Nikita has used the device several times in an effort to discover what it is, and now it is in control of her mind. When Nikita and other operatives are assigned to protect the Premier of China from other similarly brainwashed individuals, Section has no idea that the greatest threat to the Premier is Nikita herself.moreless

  • Nikita gets addicted to the Section's new brainwashing machine and turns into the Manchurian Candidate.

    2.0
On top of being unoriginal, this episode seemed out of place amongst the family/unity theme Nikita has been building on the last several episodes. It starts out with a borrowed spy thriller plot, but unlike most Nikita episodes, it doesn't offer us any new, creative twist. The addiction metaphor of the brainwashing machine was odd and not realistic enough to effectively communicate a message about addiction.

The two best scenes were both scenes where Michael assured Nikita, "We'll get you through this." Does "we" mean the Section as a whole or Michael as an individual. I suppose at one level he did mean the Section, but he was specifically offering his support to Nikita. When you feel like crap, there is often a friend who points out, "You look like crap." Nikita definitely looked like crap, but Michael was thoughtful enough not to mention it. He offered his support by embracing Nikita.

Who thought the camera following the falling man at the beginning of the episode would be a good special effect? Evidently, if the Section wants to make Michael look smart, they just have him put on glasses. Weak plot, weak theme, weak episode. 2 out of 10.

  • Section gets brainwash machine and without any concern they decide to test it, on Nikita of course.

    4.1
Section gets brainwash machine and without any concern they decide to test it, on Nikita of course. And first it looks like nothing but then some strange things happen to her - nightmares and other things. But she somehow becomes addicted to machine and starts to worry others. Until they go to important mission and she tries to kill the man they were to

    protect.

Ok, this is all of the plot and it sounds rather pointless. Nothing catching, nothing too physiological and attractive - nothing new we haven't seen on that kind spy series/movies before. Usually the episodes just nail me to stare my screen but this episode - I had no second doubts when I thought about leaving to kitchen. The episode just had no connection with me. Weird, because I was almost sure this show as managed to enchant me so strongly that there is no weak episodes.

This one is defenetly the weakest episode so far. The only places I liked was when Michael came trough Nikita's apartment door - I mean the chain did not stop him. I think there are very little things that would stop him. And then the end, when she, again, aims on Michael and end up falling apart and he says: "We will get trough this!". Those moments save little but everything else was just...

    Not my favorite storyline, sure.moreless

Nikita: Just one more time, just one more...

Michael: Look at me. Look at me! (She manages to meet his eyes) You can do this... you have to. There'll be too many questions if you don't go. I'll be close. Get ready.
