  • Madeline is still human after all

A beautiful episode what after season 1 reminds us that Madeline is still human and she can have feelings. First it can be confusing as we are not sure is she playing or really starting to get emotionally involved. And she is not the only one who gets personal as Operations seems to see what is going around. And Madeline does not only takes her emotional involvement for trying to keep Leon, who does the same job as she for Red Cell, alive but also trying to get him out of the Section. For some part it is part of the profile but in some point, she is slipping away. She stages shooting Operations and tries to make Leon believe that she loves him. But is it lie? But then Leon takes Madeline in to Red Cell and their places are switched and then he orders her to end this came but from that moment it seems that Madeline has fallen. But the Section understands it too and they know where Madeline is, so they will go after her. There is no way out, and Madeline stands in front of Leon asking if they would kill her to get him. And Operations shoots... and then kills Leon. And Madeline reaction... it remind me even if she has been acting as totally emotionless, totally Section tool and pet, she is human.. after all...

Also like Birkoff who does something he should not - contacts his twin brother.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • The terrorist group targeted in this episode is Red Cell.

    • We finally get to see the device the Devos use to interrogate prisoners and leaves a cut beneath the eyes.

    • Nitpick: It seems strange that once they opened the gene coded trasmission with Leon's DNA Madeline and Operations didn't even waste a few seconds reading it, since it had to contain valuable new data on Red Cell's plans of some sort.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Madeline: (as Operations tries to prevent Madeline from leaving with Leon) My job. I'm sorry, Paul. But there's more to my life now than my job. (she pulls out a gun) My resignation. (she shoots him)

    • Madeline: (interrogating Leon) We know each other too well to continue playing past the end game.
Leon: Is this the end game?
Madeline: I think you know that it is.
Leon: Then you think you've won?
      Madeline: You're in the chair.
Leon: Sitting or standing, you seem to be answering my questions.

    • Madeline: I know who you are. But it seems as if my superiors feel they need confirmation.
Leon: It's hard to imagine, looking at you, that you have any superiors.

    • Operations: We've hit four Red Cell substations in ten days and still no sign of the man you're looking for. If the missions doesn't yield results...
Madeline: We'll hit four more. (Madeline walks away)

    • Walter: Hey, Amigo, everything OK with you? You seem distracted. Is something on your mind?
Birkoff: You're the guy who makes the life and death decisions about other people's lives. I thought you had all the answers.
Walter: I tried to tell you to let this thing slide. But no. You had to push it. And you found out. Yes, you've got a twin brother. Yes, he's free and you're not and I'm the one that made the call. But that's the way the cookie crumbled.
Birkoff: Only he got the cookie and I got the crumbs.
      Walter: Let it go.
Birkoff: Like you let him go.

    • Birkoff: No matter how long you've been in here at least you know where you came from. You know who you are. Do you have any idea what it felt like to know that I'm part of something? Someone? To make that connection?

    • Michael: (warning Operations when he learns Madeline was meant to fall in love with Leon) A woman in love may prove to be a more formidable opponent than the one she loves.

    • Madeline: Take him to processing with the others.
      Section Operative: He's dead.
      Madeline: That's his problem.
