AIRED:
Enik unravels a startling paradox. The Marshalls can leave only if replaced by parallel versions of themselves. So even as Rick, Will and Holly at long last depart home through the mist of a time doorway - they once again arrive for the very first time in the Land of the Lost.moreless

  • Forget the next two seasons, this is the true finale...

Events in the Land Of The Lost are reaching an apocalyptic conclusion, and its all the Marshalls can do to reach Enik, who has a startling explanation for the state of affairs. The SF pedigree of the writing staff for this season shines through as never before. NBC had a solid hit and then decided, 'if it ain't broke, get a team on it right away!'

It isn't just that the episode gives the show a conclusion---it feels like a conclusion is at hand, and maybe the writers didn't know the show was coming back--Saturday Morning back when had tons of one-season wonders, so this was not an idle thought. Even the famous intro is used within the show as the Marshalls are made to realize that not only do they not belong there---they shouldn't even be alive. Its kiddie SF/F at its best, and sadly it didn't keep for the next two seasons. For my money, its best to act like the uncle from S3 at some point again traded places with Rick, leading to this episode. Not just because they got out - but because it is simply a better episode.moreless
