While searching for a way out of the Land Of The Lost the Marshals become trapped in an underground cavern where they find an old Civil War soldier. The soldier is mining and keeps the Sleetak at by with strange power crystals.
  • The Marshalls meet another human in the Land of the Lost.

This was an exciting episode that featured several important plot points. One was that the main river in the Land of the Lost only goes in circles and is not a way out. Another was that a fellow human was discovered, so the Marshalls know that they are not the only ones to become stuck there. A third is the first appearance of the power crystals, and the fact that they can be used to different effects.

Walker Edmiston as Jefferson Davis Collie III was a riot in this episode and you could tell he loved playing the role. He would go on to play Enik in numerous episodes. I would have loved to see Collie make another appearance on the show, but that never happened unfortunately.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • After they get in the Cave, Holly's pants turn from red to black. Near the end, when they follow the soldier out of the cave, they're red again.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Rick: (holding Sleestak bones) Do you know what these are?
Collie: Sure. First year I was here, shot three of 'em. Biggest dang yankees ya ever saw. They weren't bad, though - tasted a whole lot like lobster. But yet again, not like lobster if ya know what I mean. Course, they don't bother me much...anymore.
Rick: Well the next one you see might shoot back. They have crossbows - and they think we taste good too.

    • Collie(referring to his cannon): Ol Sherry here, she don't talk much, but when she do, you better listen!

  • NOTES (2)

    • This episode features the first indication that the Land of the Lost is an enclosed or pocket universe since the river that flows out of one end of the land emerges from a waterfall on the other. In a later episode the Marshalls climb to the mountains on the edge of the land and by using binoculars can see their backs on the other.

    • This is the first appearance and use of the crystals. Red and green can produce a bright light, and can create a blinding flash if combined with a yellow.
