I'm watching the LOTL marathon today and noticed in the opening credits that Wesley Eure's last name is omitted when listed as Will Marshall. Was he really that famous back in the day that it wasn't really needed? Or is it that it's too difficult to pronounce. Kind of weird that they'd do it for this show.

I was wondering the same thing, and didn't remember that at all. He probably thought it was cool.

I was wondering the same thing. I haven't been able to find an answer online but here is some interesting bio stuff on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Eure

It's right there on his IMDB bio:

"As a gimmick, he had himself billed as simply "Wesley" in the "Land of the Lost" (1974) credits. This ploy hardly worked as it was intended to; in fact, Eure regrets the effort to this day."

There ya go. First names work for some performers it didn't for him.

He probably figured he'd a teen pop icon. I guess girls might have thought he was cute, ut that's a bit more to ask for from a series geared specifically for kids.

If you listen to the commentary with him and Kathy on one of the original DVD's (I don't know if the new set includes them or not), they make a joke about it. If I remember correctly, he said his agent was the one who encouraged it.
