Based on the novels by Harry Kemelman, Lanigan's Rabbi starred Art Carney as small-town Police Chief Paul Lanigan. He was aided in his investigations by his friend (and amateur sleuth) Rabbi David Small (Bruce Solomon). Lanigan's Rabbi was the last series to air under the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie banner. It replaced Quincy, M.E. after that series evolved into a one-hour weekly show. In the first half of 1977, it aired along with Columbo, McMillan and McCloud. After the end of the first season of Lanigan's Rabbi, the Sunday Mystery Movie was cancelled.moreless
