I have to say I am shocked....SHOCKED at what I saw today. Let's start with the first set of finalists. Are you kidding me? They put through the pretty boy talking about working out at the gym but didn't put through the black chick with the cousin who won't eat fried chicken? Pretty boy wasn't terrible but he started off really bad and only had one bit I thought was really funny. And the black guy in the sweater made it through with jokes about how it feels like to be fired? Not funny nor universal enough if you ask me. But I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that audience ate it up. I live in Las Vegas (where this episode was taped) and there is plenty of white trash.
In fact, the audience was so white trash they exploded in laughter and applause upon hearing Adam Hunter's vile, racist against Asian males. That was unbelievable! I understand the laughter - it was kind of funny even for an Asian guy like myself. But applause? Don't we reserve that for jokes we'd be happy to tell other people. If I was laughing at that joke I wouldn't be proud of it. Do we get to laugh and applaud if an Arab tells jokes about how Jews being cheap and having big noses? What if a Southerner started telling jokes about black people being lazy, dumb, and criminals? Do we get applause there and move on to the finals?
I'm very offended. As far as I'm concerned, racial jokes for the most part need to be restricted to members of that race or observations that don't insult the race but rather just point out differences. Just my 2 cents. I'm annoyed right now. NBC should be ashamed.moreless
