I gave this episode such a high score because Debra DiGiovanni is FINALLY gone. She was quite possibly the worst comic I've ever seen. During her entire run on the show, I chuckled ONCE during her head-to-head with Matt. It made me angry that the vote was as close as it was, though. Matt was so unbelievably funnier than she was. Nevertheless, she's off and I'm happy.
Now, at this point, I'm going to do a breakdown of the contestants that are left, and my opinion of them.
Lavell Crawford - Hilarious. Absolutely freaking hilarious. One of the strongest comics on the show. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he won.
Matt Kirshen - Also very funny. His humor is intelligent, sarcastic, and witty. The style of humor fits very well with stand-up comedy, and it's sort of funny in an ironic way that he is that kind of comic with the way he looks (like a twelve-year-old.)
Gerry Dee - The worst comic left. His voice is annoying, his jokes are unfunny and don't really have a punchline, and he's annoying and overly-cocky. I hope he goes next.
Amy Schumer - Pretty funny. An average comic overall, but as the only girl, she's faring very well. I love how overtly offensive she is, she reminds me a lot of Sarah Silverman, and that's wonderful.
Doug Benson - Not much above Gerry Dee. He's shown some potential, but his jokes are very inconsistent. Some will be funny, others will fall flat on their face. Not my favorite.
Ralph Harris - Somewhere along with Amy. He's kinda funny, but not laugh-out-loud hilarious. He started out kinda bad too, but I think since winning the head-to-head, he's gotten funnier, which is a good thing.
Jon Reep - Similar to Matt and Lavell. He's hilarious. His jokes are funny, and he's kind of a nice parallel to Matt. Whereas Matt's jokes are aimed at the intelligent, anyone can appreciate Jon Reep. He does a lot of slapstick kind of comedy, and reminds me of Jim Carrey with his noises and facial expressions. Wonderful.
That's my opinion. Can't wait for the next episode, this series gets more exciting each time.moreless
