A large bouquet of roses is delivered anonymously to the Baxter's house on Valentine's Day which Kristin suspects her boss, John may be the secret admirer, while Mandy assumes the flowers are from Kyle. Eve conducts interviews on who is to become her new boyfriend.
Boyd becomes a discipline problem at school, when Kristin explains that the school counselor suggests he go on medicine for ADHD, both Ryan and Mike passionately disagree. Mandy spends all of her free time studying in an effort to get good grades for a change.
Eve posts one of Mike's political charged vlogs on her Facebook page but ignores the kids at school after they give her a hard time for her own views causing Vanessa to worry that he daughter maybe an outcast. The Baxters find themselves in trouble with a local patrolman and Mike is outnumbered when the women in his family get off with warnings.moreless
In the spirit of Christmas, Mandy plays Santa by anonymously arranging a holiday surprise for Blanca, the Baxters’ housekeeper. Also, when Vanessa gives Boyd a "magical" Elf doll, Ryan wants to tell Boyd it's just a doll, but Mike wants Ryan to see that a little Christmas spirit isn't a bad thing.moreless
Mike's father Bud arrives for Thanksgiving taking everyone by surprise when announces his plans to open a recreational marijuana store. Mike struggles to either support his Dad or question the message this new business venture.
Vanessa feels guilty when she encourages Mandy to break things off with Kyle, she vows to make things better, but her efforts only makes matters worse.
Eve is thrilled after a snowstorm hits, cause she can start her annual snow shoveling business, but finds out her friends have beaten her to it, leading Mike to give his daughter some advice.
Vanessa takes over the Halloween haunted house fundraiser for Boyd's school, but her ideas scare him, which leaves Mike to find a way to reassure Boyd and to help him face his fears.
Kyle is distracted from his work by his new interest in philosophy. Meanwhile, Mike is upset that Boyd will be going to a bilingual school instead of one in his neighborhood.
